Zhou Dazhui swept a sinister look over the villagers.
"Do you understand? If you let it slip tomorrow, I'll skin you alive!"
Several villagers were so scared that they nodded repeatedly, like pounding garlic.
"Understood! Understood! Brother Zhu, don't worry, we will keep this a secret!"
On the other side, Chen Changyuan and others transported all the prey into the warehouse and registered them.
Looking at the overflowing warehouse, Xiao Liuzi rubbed his hands excitedly:
"Brother Changyuan, we've accomplished a great deed this time! The village chief will definitely reward us handsomely!"
Chen Changyuan was not as optimistic as Xiao Liuzi. He frowned and felt a little uneasy in his heart.
"Don't be too happy just yet, Xiao Liuzi. This matter isn't over yet."
After registering the prey, Chen Changyuan immediately thought of Yuan Chao's illness. His face changed and he hurriedly said to Xiao Liuzi:
"You watch here, I'll go find Mrs. Wang."
Yuan Chao's face was pale, his lips were chapped, and he lay weakly on the straw mat, groaning in pain from time to time.
When Chen Changyuan found Wang Pozi, she was drying herbs in the yard. Seeing Chen Changyuan's anxious look, Wang Pozi put down her work and asked:
"Changyuan, what happened?"
"Mother Wang, Yuan Chao drank raw yellow sheep blood and now he has a severe stomachache. Go check on him!"
Chen Changyuan said anxiously.
When Mrs. Wang heard this, her expression became serious.
"Don't drink this raw yellow sheep blood carelessly. It might contain parasites! Come on, take me to see it!"
Wang Po came to Yuan Chao, first carefully observed his face, then took his pulse, her brows furrowed tighter and tighter.
"His pulse shows signs of inflammation. We need to induce vomiting and get him to spit out all that dirt!"
Mrs. Wang took out a packet of black medicine powder from the medicine box, mixed it with hot water and gave it to Yuan Chao to drink.
Not long after, Yuan Chao began to vomit uncontrollably. The vomit was fishy and smelly, which made Chen Changyuan feel nauseous.
After all the trouble, Yuan Chao's complexion finally looked better and he stopped groaning.
Mrs. Wang wiped the sweat from her forehead and said:
"He looks better now, but we need to observe for a few more days to see if he's infected with parasites. Feed him light food these few days and don't let him eat anything else!"
Chen Changyuan said to Wang Pozi gratefully:
"Thanks to you, Mrs. Wang,"
Mrs. Wang waved her hand:
"We're all from the same village, why are you being so polite? This kid is lucky. If it were any later, he'd be in trouble!"
After thanking Wang Po, Chen Changyuan stood up and prepared to leave.
Just as he reached the door, he was stopped by Mrs. Wang.
"Changyuan, wait!"
Mrs. Wang took out a small package wrapped in oil paper from the medicine cabinet behind her and handed it to Chen Changyuan.
"This is a plaster for Old Yuantou, to treat his old cold legs. I was just worried that I didn't have time to take it to him. Since you know him well, why don't you take it to him on your way?"
Although Chen Changyuan was a little tired, he still took the plaster and nodded in agreement.
"Okay, Mrs. Wang, I'll send it to him later."
"Thank you for your help." Mrs. Wang said with a smile.
Chen Changyuan walked out of Wang Pozi's house and said to Xiao Liuzi who had come running over:
"Xiao Liuzi, take your brothers back first. I have something else to do."
"What's the matter, Brother Changyuan? Do you need my help?" Xiao Liuzi asked.
"No, it's just a small matter. Take everyone back to rest."
Chen Changyuan patted Xiao Liuzi on the shoulder.
After watching Xiao Liuzi and others leave, Chen Changyuan turned and walked towards Lao Yuantou's house.
Lao Yuantou's home is at the westernmost end of the village, a dilapidated thatched house standing there alone.
Chen Changyuan walked to the door and knocked, but no one answered.
He knocked a few more times, but still no response.
"Old Yuantou? Are you at home?" Chen Changyuan raised his voice and shouted.
There was still no response from inside the house.
Chen Changyuan felt a little uneasy. He tried to push the door and found that it was not locked.
"Strange, Old Yuan always locks the door when he goes out, what happened today?"
Chen Changyuan was confused and gently pushed the door open and walked in.
The room was dimly lit and a musty smell filled the air.
Chen Changyuan looked around, but it was empty and he didn't see the old Yuantou.
"Old Yuantou?" Chen Changyuan called out again, but still no one answered.
He plucked up his courage and walked in. When he reached the bed, a strong smell of blood suddenly rushed into his nostrils.
Chen Changyuan's heart sank suddenly. He hurried to the bedside and saw Lao Yuan lying on the ground, his face pale and his breathing weak.
He was covered with a tattered quilt, on which dark red bloodstains were faintly visible.
"Old Yuantou! What's wrong with you?" Chen Changyuan hurried forward and helped Old Yuantou up.
Old Yuantou opened his eyes slightly and saw that it was Chen Changyuan. He moved his lips as if he wanted to say something, but no sound came out.
Seeing this, Chen Changyuan was shocked and hurriedly checked Lao Yuantou's breath. He found that his breathing was extremely weak and his pulse was very slow. It was obvious that he had been unconscious for a long time.
Chen Changyuan was anxious and didn't care about anything else. He quickly pinched the old man's philtrum under his nose.
After a long while, Lao Yuantou let out a faint groan and slowly opened his eyes.
"Old Yuan, you finally woke up!"
Seeing this, Chen Changyuan felt a little relieved.
The old man smiled weakly and said:
"Changyuan...what's wrong with me?"
"What are you talking about! You must have eaten something bad, you're vomiting and having diarrhea, you almost..."
