Chen Changyuan narrowed his eyes and quickly looked at the men in front of him.
They were dressed in ordinary clothes, but they had a distinct air of being from the city.
Especially the man with a mustache in the lead, with a bulge on his waist, it was obvious that he was hiding a weapon.
"Brothers, are you planning to rob?" Chen Changyuan asked in a relaxed tone.
"I wonder which sect you are from?"
The man with the mustache was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting the other party to be so calm. He then sneered, "Kid, why do you care so much? Hand over the money if you know what's good for you!"
"I'm just curious." Chen Changyuan said slowly.
"You are so bold, daring to rob right under the emperor's feet. There must be someone behind you, right? How about we become friends?"
"Stop talking nonsense!" a tall and thin man cursed impatiently.
"If you don't pay up, I'll show you what blood splatters five steps away!"
Chen Changyuan noticed that in addition to the man with a mustache and the tall and thin man, there were three other people blocking the alley.
One of the guys with a fat face was rubbing the dagger in his hand with a fierce look in his eyes.
"I'll tell you how many people there are."
Chen Changyuan continued to stall for time, "Are you following that man in the windbreaker? Did he ask you to rob me?"
"Why waste your time talking to him!"
The man with a face full of flesh suddenly became angry and rushed forward with a dagger in hand.
At this moment, Chen Changyuan moved.
His movements were as fast as lightning. With a flick of his left hand, the dagger in his arms was unsheathed.
The knife flashed, and the man with a face full of flesh screamed and squatted on the ground, covering his arm.
Blood kept dripping from between his fingers.
"Depend on!"
The tall and thin man reacted and pulled out an iron rod to hit Chen Changyuan.
Chen Changyuan dodged sideways and at the same time swept his right foot, hitting the tall and thin man's ankle.
There was a loud "crack" and the tall and thin man fell to the ground with a scream, his ankle obviously twisted into a strange angle.
"You... who are you?"
The man with the mustache had a drastic change of expression and subconsciously took two steps back.
Chen Changyuan did not answer, but pointed his dagger at the remaining three people: "Either get out or lie down."
"Go! Go together!"
The man with the mustache gritted his teeth and shouted.
The remaining two minions looked at each other, hesitated for a moment, and then drew their weapons.
One held an iron rod and the other held a switchblade.
"act recklessly."
Chen Changyuan sneered and gently turned the dagger in his hand.
There was a chaotic sound of fighting and screaming in the alley.
When passersby heard the noise, they quickly quickened their pace and left, fearing that they would get into trouble.
A few minutes later, Chen Changyuan wiped the blood off the dagger and looked at the people lying on the ground.
The man with a mustache covered his shoulder and broke out in a cold sweat due to the pain. The others were also groaning on the ground.
Chen Changyuan put the dagger to the mustache man's throat and said coldly, "Tell me, who asked you to come?"
The man with the mustache swallowed his saliva and said in a trembling voice, "It's...it's Lao Wei."
"Old Wei?"
Chen Changyuan narrowed his eyes, "What's the story?"
"He's the manager of Spring Breeze Casino."
The man with the mustache quickly explained.
"He told us to follow the man in the windbreaker, saying he had something he wanted. But when we saw you, he gave you some money, so he thought of taking advantage of you first."
Chen Changyuan's heart moved. It seemed that the man in the windbreaker and Old Wei had some grudge against each other.
But this had nothing to do with him. He put away his dagger and looked down at the few people condescendingly.
"Remember, stay away from me next time. If I see you again, it won't be so easy next time."
Several thugs nodded repeatedly and supported each other as they fled the alley.
Chen Changyuan patted his clothes and walked out of the alley.
The sunlight was a little dazzling, so he squinted his eyes and looked around.
The streets were crowded with people, and it seemed that the fight just now did not cause much commotion.
After buying the plaster, Chen Changyuan thought of his mother Fang Suxia's faded old clothes and decided to buy her a new one.
He stopped at the door of the clothing store and looked carefully at the clothes in the window.
"Comrade, what do you think of this one?"
The clerk was a middle-aged woman wearing glasses, who introduced enthusiastically.
"This is Dacron from Shanghai, and it's hard to buy right now."
Chen Changyuan picked up the light blue dress. The fabric was indeed good and the style was suitable for his mother.
He asked, "How much?"
"Fifteen dollars."
The clerk said with a smile.
"Isn't it too expensive?"
Chen Changyuan frowned, "How about ten dollars?"
The clerk hesitated for a moment: "Well... okay, you seem like a filial son."
Only then did Chen Changyuan remember that he only had the four thousand yuan given to him by the man in the windbreaker.
He pulled a ten-yuan note from his pocket and handed it to the clerk: "Here."
The clerk took the bill, looked at it under the light, and his expression suddenly changed: "This... This is a counterfeit bill!"
"What?"
Chen Changyuan was stunned. "Impossible."
The clerk slammed the bills on the counter and asked, "Where did you get this money? Are you trying to cheat me?"
The customers around him all looked at him strangely, and Chen Changyuan's face turned red.
He looked at the banknote carefully and found that it was indeed a little different from the ones he usually saw. The color was slightly darker and the feel was not right.
"That man in the windbreaker..."
Chen Changyuan said in disbelief, "Give me the fake money!"
The clerk stood with his hands on his hips, looking aggressive.
"Tell me clearly, where did this money come from? Do you want me to call the police to investigate?"
Chen Changyuan took a deep breath and suppressed the anger in his heart.
