Chapter 174: Xiangyun Town

Chapter 174: Xiangyun Town

Jingwu opened his eyes instantly, lifted the curtain, and looked out the window.

It was already dark outside when the carriage slowly entered a city gate. The wooden plaque above the gate read the three large characters "Xiangyun Town".

She was puzzled; how come she had never heard of this town in Jinzhou?

Jingwu turned to look at the boy and asked the question that had been on his mind: "Have you heard of Xiangyun Town?"

Yue Huai thought about it carefully and shook his head: "Never heard of it."

Jingwu pursed his lips, watching the street flash by outside the window.

The streets were deserted and the rows of houses were pitch black, without a single ray of light.

How come such a big town doesn't even have a night watchman?

Jingwu craned his neck to look for a long time, but still didn't see a trace of anyone, so he pulled his head back.

The carriage slowly came to a stop at an inn, and the coachman outside said with a smile.

"Everyone, please get off the bus."

Jingwu followed the boy off the carriage. When he turned around, he noticed that the luxurious carriage in the middle was gone. He frowned and asked the coachman, "Where is your prince?"

The coachman, smiling, packed his things and said, "I'm just a coachman. I don't know where our prince went. He only told me to take you to this inn. The rest is not my responsibility."

After he finished speaking, he gave a wink to the coachman in the carriage behind him.

Then, he turned around, got into the carriage, and slowly drove the horses away.

Jingwu glanced at the coachman of the carriage behind him, who quickly helped the two people off the carriage. Then he turned and left, frowning slightly.

She looked around and then fixed her gaze on the signboard of the inn.

His eyes narrowed slightly, and the next second he noticed the scratch marks next to the door plaque.

Jingwu glanced at the height, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

At that height, ordinary people couldn't reach it without the help of tools.

"What exactly is Prince Yu up to?"

Yue Huai muttered to himself, then looked at the inn's door and said, "Shall we go in and take a look?"

"Okay." Zhao Xuanzhou nodded in agreement: "Be careful of ambushes!"

Upon hearing this, Jingwu immediately became alert and watched as the boy pushed the door open and went inside.

The inn was pitch black, without even a candle, and the group could only walk around by the dim moonlight.

The room was very quiet; you could even hear a few people's footsteps.

The next second, all the candles in the inn suddenly lit up, enveloping everyone in the lobby.

Jingwu was momentarily blinded by the light and instinctively reached out to cover his eyes.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw a woman dressed in red standing on the stairs.

She wore her hair in a bun, adorned with a hairpin, and her face was heavily made up. She held a shawl in her hand, and her eyes were fixed on the four men, her face expressionless.

Jingwu was startled when he first saw the person at the bottom of the stairs.

Upon closer inspection, one could see her heaving chest.

Alive?

No, it's not a normal living person!

Jingwu squinted and looked more closely, and saw the woman swaying her hips and walking down the street.

With a smile still on her face, she looked at the group and asked, "Are you here to stay or to eat?"

As Jingwu watched her approach, she instantly sensed something; her eyes were fixed on the woman's chest.

Heartless!

The woman seemed to sense her gaze, smiled, and reached out to wave her shawl, instinctively covering her chest and heart.

"Gentlemen, why don't you sit down for a while before deciding whether to have a meal or stay at a hotel?"

Jingwu realized what was happening, looked away, and then said, "We're looking for a room at the inn. Do you know how many superior rooms you have?"

The woman leaned on the counter, resting her chin on her hand, and said with a seductive look in her eyes, "That depends on your relationship with this young master, young lady."

Jingwu was a little confused by what he heard and was about to say something when he saw the young master's face suddenly turn cold, so he immediately retorted.

"Four superior rooms, thank you."

The woman chuckled as she looked at the boy's bright red ears, nodded, and then said, "Alright, then four superior rooms will do. Gentlemen, go upstairs and turn left; the four rooms by the window are the best."

She took the inkless brush and scribbled a couple of lines on the paper, then lowered her head and muttered to herself.

"She's still a clueless girl."

Hearing this, Jingwu was very puzzled and wanted to ask something, but he felt that something was wrong with everything, so he withdrew his puzzled gaze and looked at the person next to him.

"Shall we go upstairs and stay here?"

Yue Huai nodded, picked up his luggage first, and headed upstairs.

After watching the craftsmen choose their rooms first, he turned to the girl and said...

“This shopkeeper is no ordinary person; I can sense the presence of an ancient artifact on her.”

Jingwu nodded. She had noticed it earlier as well, but she didn't know whether this person was friend or foe, so she couldn't let her guard down yet.

“I’ll be careful, and you should be careful too. Oh, by the way, she was just muttering…”

"Esteemed guests," the woman said, walking over with four bells in her hands. She looked at the two men with a meaningful gaze and said, "Choose one of the bells."

Jingwu frowned slightly and asked, "What is the use of this bell?"

Seeing her wary look, the woman curled her lips into a smile and said casually, "If you don't want to die, you'd better keep this bell with you."

Jingwu was about to ask a question when he saw the person in front of him stuff all the bells into his hand and turn away.

"Oh, right. Don't go out at night, go to bed early, and don't meddle in other people's business if you hear any noise."

The woman said as she walked forward, swaying her hips.

Jingwu stared at the ordinary bell in front of him, feeling very puzzled.

She looked up at the boy in front of her and asked, "Can you tell what's in this?"

Yue Huai stared intently at the bell, then shook his head.

He hesitated for a moment, still feeling uneasy, and then said, "Awu, how about we make do for the night? That way we can make a decision quickly if anything urgent happens."

After saying this, Yue Huai looked at the girl's wide eyes and, fearing she might misunderstand, immediately waved his hand to explain, "I didn't mean to take advantage of you, don't misunderstand, it's just..."

Jingwu hadn't thought that much about it. He was a little surprised when he first heard it, but now that he thought about it carefully, he realized that it would be better for the two of them to share a room, so he nodded.

"good."

Yue Huai thought she was going to refuse, but to his surprise, she agreed, and the corners of his mouth turned up in a crazy smile.

He nodded, his ears turning bright red, and quickly went inside, telling everyone to come in right away.

Jingwu followed her inside, placed the bell in her hand on the table, rested her chin on her hand, and stared at the bell as if trying to see if there was anything different about it.
