Chapter Thirty-Five: Heading to Pingjiang Prefecture
Upon hearing this, Yun Fanjing immediately had someone invite him in.
A moment later, a familiar figure walked in.
Jingwu looked up and saw an old acquaintance.
The two looked at each other for a moment, their eyes filled with surprise.
"Cousin, what brings you here?" Yun Fanjing got up and walked towards him, looking at him with a smile.
Yue Huai withdrew his gaze, a smile in his eyes: "A few days ago, Granny Yue sent someone to Xuanmen to invite me, saying there was something important. I happened to be down the mountain to take care of some business those days, and I only found out today, so I rushed over."
Yun Fanjing knew that Granny Yue had gone to invite him for her sake, so she smiled shyly and whispered.
“I got lost in the forest before, and Liu Xian gave me a glass lamp, but I didn’t return it in time. He then took my soul, and that’s probably why the old lady came to find you then.”
"What?"
“However, cousin, I’m all better now. The master helped me.” Yun Fanjing said immediately when she saw his face turn cold.
Yue Huai first examined her. Although her soul was still somewhat unstable, she would recover after a period of rest.
Then, he turned to look at the girl sitting next to him and nodded to her.
"Thank you, Miss Jing."
Jingwu tilted his head and said with a smile, "No need to be so polite, the princess has already given me the payment."
The implication is that one takes money and does favors.
Yue Huai smiled when he heard this.
Then, he turned to the princess and said, "I am going to Pingjiang Prefecture. Take good care of yourself and don't go out for the next few days."
After saying this, he immediately took out a talisman and handed it to her: "Keep this talisman close to your body, so that those wandering ghosts won't approach you."
Yun Fanjing took it and said softly, "The master has already given me one. By the way, cousin, what are you going to Pingjiang Prefecture for?"
“My mother sent me a message saying that the old lady of the governor’s family in Pingjiang Prefecture has been having nightmares these past few days and is being haunted by ghosts. She asked me to go and take a look.”
Yun Fanjing nodded, then realized, "So you didn't come here specifically to solve my problem!"
"The people you sent didn't explain things clearly. They just said you asked me to go over there. They thought it wasn't a big deal, so naturally they didn't notify me." Yue Huai lightly tapped her head: "If you had told me earlier, I would have resolved your matter a few days ago."
Yun Fanjing covered her head and muttered softly, "I was unconscious at the time, how would I know so much?"
Moreover, the news of her coma must not be spread. If it gets out, it will reach the ears of her father and mother, and she will be taken back to the palace!
Hearing her muttering, Yue Huai guessed what she was thinking.
After carefully checking that she was alright, he turned to Jingwu and spoke.
"Miss Jing, would you be interested in coming to Pingjiang Prefecture with me?"
Jingwu was surprised to hear her words, but then, remembering the merit involved, he nodded.
"Sure, but I need to go back and tell my uncle and aunt first."
"good."
Hearing their conversation, Yun Fanjing realized that the two had known each other for a long time, and immediately jumped up and said, "I want to go too!"
"Have you forgotten what I just said? If you continue to act recklessly, I will send a message to the palace and have my aunt send someone to arrest you and take you back."
Yue Huai looked at her with a stern face, and at that moment she looked quite like an older brother.
Yun Fanjing fell silent and slumped into the chair.
Jingwu finished his meal and received his payment, then stood up to say goodbye to the princess and prepared to leave.
Yue Huai followed her out of the Han residence, and the two walked side by side.
"You and the princess are actually cousins?" Jingwu thought for a moment before asking.
Yue Huai nodded and answered truthfully, "Yes, my mother and her mother are sisters, both women of the Han family."
Upon hearing the answer, Jingwu did not ask any further questions.
She went to the orphanage and donated half of her earnings for the day before turning back to the Shao family home.
Yue Huai followed behind her, watching her back, and couldn't help but recall what his master had said.
He once asked his master why he couldn't open the Ghost Gate while Jingwu could.
The master said that the founder of Shuangcheng Temple was once a god of the underworld. After he came to the human world and founded Shuangcheng Temple, he stayed in the human world to catch ghosts and exorcise evil spirits until his death.
The fact that later generations can summon the Ghost Gate may be related to the techniques passed down from their ancestor.
Although Yue Huai still wanted to learn this technique, he knew that since he was not a disciple of Shuangcheng Temple, they would never allow him to learn it secretly.
"When are you going to Pingjiang Prefecture?" Jingwu turned to look at him, and seeing him deep in thought, asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Yue Huai snapped out of his reverie and looked down at her: "It's nothing. I can set off for Pingjiang Prefecture right away. It's up to you."
"After I finish talking to my uncle and aunt, I'll go with you."
Yue Huai nodded, and just as he was about to say something more, he saw the person in front of him disappear.
He smiled helplessly and had no choice but to find a noodle shop nearby to sit down and eat while waiting.
Jingwu chanted a teleportation spell and returned to the Shao family. Seeing that no one was home, he remembered that his uncle and aunt were still at the Ruan family's house.
So, he chanted the teleportation spell and arrived at the Ruan family's house.
As soon as I entered the courtyard, I heard crying.
Just as Jingwu was about to go in, he heard two women talking beside him.
"I heard that Mu Jing was killed because she coveted something. Do you think that thing is really that evil?"
"Oh, don't say anymore. Old Mrs. Ruan sent that thing back overnight and even took a lot of paper money to burn. People shouldn't be too greedy."
Upon hearing this, Jingwu immediately hurried inside.
Upon entering, she saw the room filled with white. She looked at the people dressed in mourning clothes and searched for her aunt.
Then, they saw a woman wiping away tears as she busied herself.
Jingwu walked over quickly and called out softly, "Aunt."
"Awu? What brings you here?" Ruan Chongyue's eyes were red and swollen, clearly from crying for a long time. She immediately realized what was happening and asked, "Did your uncle forget to leave you some money?"
As he spoke, he reached into his pocket for money.
Jingwu stopped her and took out a purse containing silver notes, handing it to her: "Aunt, I need to go to Pingjiang Prefecture. My return date is uncertain, so I came to let you know."
“Pingjiang Prefecture? What are you going there for?” Ruan Chongyue subconsciously took the purse and asked.
"There's something going on over there." Jingwu couldn't say it outright in public, so he could only give a vague answer.
Ruan Chongyue understood what she meant and nodded: "Okay, then be careful. Your uncle went to town to buy things. I'll tell him when he gets back."
Jingwu nodded and prepared to leave.
Ruan Chongyue then realized that she had taken the purse from her and quickly called out to her, "Awu, your purse is still with me."
“Aunt, there are two hundred taels of silver notes inside. After you’ve finished dealing with things here, go to town and look for a suitable house,” Jingwu said, turning to her with a smile.
The Shao family's house was too cramped. Although the four of them could live there, Shao Chengrui had to sleep on the floor every time he came back, and he couldn't sleep well.
Although Jingwu didn't say it, he knew in his heart that Shao Chengrui had returned to the academy a few days ago because he couldn't sleep well.
"What?" Ruan Chongyue was surprised and quickly stuffed the purse into her hand: "No, no, how can I take your money?"
"Aunt, just think of it as helping me find a place to live," Jingwu said with a smile, patting her hand.
As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and left.
Yue Huai was still waiting for him to go to Pingjiang Prefecture together.
Ruan Chongyue held the purse in her hand, unsure of what to do. She could only wait for her husband to return so she could discuss it with him.
Jingwu had already used the teleportation spell to return to where he had been.
Seeing that the boy was not in the same place, she looked around and found him on the stall a second later.
Jingwu walked over and sat down opposite him.
Yue Huai had already finished eating and looked at the person in front of him, asking, "Did you say that?"
Jingwu nodded: "We can set off anytime."
Yue Huai nodded, put down his chopsticks, looked at her and smiled, "Then let's go."
Jingwu stood up and went with him to Pingjiang Prefecture.
Leaving was out of the question, so the two went to a secluded place, chanted a teleportation spell, and headed towards Pingjiang Prefecture.
The next second, the two appeared together outside the residence of the governor of Pingjiang Prefecture.
Jingwu looked up at the house and surveyed it. He didn't find any yin energy in the outer courtyard.
At this moment, Yue Huai stepped forward and knocked on the door.
Soon, a man dressed as a butler came out: "And you are?"
"My name is Yue Huai."
Upon hearing the name, the butler immediately opened the door respectfully and invited the person inside.
Yue Huai turned to look at the girl standing there: "Let's go."
Jingwu nodded and followed him inside, looking at the feng shui along the way.
The butler looked her over and saw that she was dressed in linen clothes, without any jewelry, with a delicate face and a small figure, and could hardly be considered a beauty.
He couldn't help but click his tongue inwardly, marveling at the unique vision of the eldest son of the Yue family.
