Chapter 143: Emerging from Her Body

Chapter 143: Emerging from Her Body

Lord Lu was filled with resentment. He had thought about dying on the battlefield, at the hands of the enemy general, but he never imagined that he would die like this, at the hands of his own people.

He was unwilling to accept it!

He thought about seeking revenge against the Prince of Hui, but for some reason, he couldn't get out of there. Gradually, he lost his mind.

Lord Lu looked at his daughter before him, overwhelmed with grief. His first wife had died young, leaving him only this daughter. Now he was dead too, leaving her all alone. How could he possibly let her go?!

He sighed deeply, his mind racing, and after a moment he said, "Ning'er, pack your things and go back to your hometown tomorrow. Don't think about seeking revenge against Prince Hui. Just live a peaceful life and find a good man to marry back home. The Marquis's mansion has enough money for you to live on for the rest of your life."

Lu Yanning wanted to refute these words, but then she heard her father speak again.

"Your father only wants you to live, to live peacefully and safely." Lord Lu stroked his daughter's head from afar and sighed deeply.

Lu Yanning understood her father's meaning, but she was unwilling to accept it. Her father had spent his whole life guarding the frontier, only to die at the hands of his own people. How could she accept this?!

She turned around abruptly and knelt down before the two men standing to the side: "Young Master Yue, Miss, can you please help me? Prince Hui has committed so many evil deeds, doesn't he deserve retribution?"

Jingwu was taken aback by the kneeling, then helped the man up: "Yes, he will be punished for everything he has done, but I cannot interfere in your karma."

"When will the retribution come?"

Jingwu lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, then reached out and cast a divination: "Soon, you will be able to see it."

Upon hearing this, Lu Yanning knelt on the ground and pondered for a moment before nodding: "Alright, then I'll wait and see his retribution."

Jingwu nodded, put Lord Lu's soul into his Qiankun bag, and then left with Yue Huai and Lu Yanning.

Yue Huai has already reported this to the Crown Prince, and his men will soon take over the matter.

After Jingwu returned to the villa, he opened the gate to the underworld and sent Lord Lu down there.

After all, he had lingered in the mortal realm for too long and had been corrupted by yin energy, making his soul unstable. He needed to enter the underworld as soon as possible.

Just as Jingwu finished doing all that and was about to lie down to rest, he heard someone knocking on the door outside.

"Ah Wu, are you asleep?"

Jingwu got up, put on an outer robe, opened the door, looked at his cousin standing outside, and stepped aside to let him in: "Not yet, cousin, what's wrong?"

"I need to trouble you with something." Shao Chengrui sat in the chair, looking at the person in front of him somewhat awkwardly: "I didn't plan to trouble you so late, but you weren't home during the day, and I'm afraid things might change if I wait until tomorrow."

"It's alright, cousin. I haven't gone to sleep yet either." Jingwu poured him a cup of tea and placed it in front of him.

"It's like this, Brother Shengming has a distant relative in the capital who happened to come to the academy to see him today. During their conversation, I overheard the lady saying that she was going to Nanming Temple in a few days to fulfill a vow and thank Buddha for giving her a child. She also asked if we wanted to go with her to pray to Buddha for our success in the imperial examinations. I asked for the address, and she said it was in Qingshan."

Shao Chengrui picked up his teacup, took a sip, and said with a furrowed brow, "We originally planned to go, but then I suddenly felt very anxious, so we postponed it until tomorrow. Awu, can you tell me if the trip will go smoothly?"

Upon hearing the name Nanming Temple, Jingwu immediately recalled what the hamster had said and concluded that the temple must be dedicated to an evil god.

She twitched the corner of her mouth and said, "Cousin, you were right not to go. The statue in that temple might not be a Buddha, it might be an evil god."

Upon hearing this, Shao Chengrui was extremely surprised: "An evil god?"

Jingwu nodded: "Yes, it seems that Young Master Yan's cousin's wife is possessed by an evil spirit. Cousin, could you arrange for me to meet with her tomorrow?"

Shao Chengrui trusted his younger sister completely, so he immediately agreed.

He looked at the person in front of him, hesitating to speak: "Awu, will the evil god be in danger to you?"

Jingwu was taken aback by these words, and a warm feeling instantly welled up in his heart. He then smiled and said, "Don't worry, cousin, I will take good care of myself."

Upon hearing this assurance, Shao Chengrui nodded: "It's getting late, so I won't disturb your rest any longer. Tomorrow morning, I'll talk to Brother Shengming and arrange for you to meet your cousin's wife."

"Okay." Jingwu watched him walk out, his eyes darkening.

Just when she was about to fall asleep, a pillow was handed to her; she was planning to go find those two temples anyway.

Jingwu lay in bed and slept soundly.

The next day, she got up very early and went to the front hall for breakfast. Then, Shao Chengrui and Yan Shengming brought over their distant cousin-in-law.

"Sister-in-law, please sit in the front hall for a while. I'll go back to my room to get something, and then we'll go to the temple to pray to Buddha."

As Yan Shengming spoke, he led the person in, his eyes frantically scanning the girl.

As soon as Jingwu saw the woman, he realized that she was possessed by a snake spirit.

She immediately formed a hand seal and sent out an exorcism talisman.

The woman immediately dodged, and after a moment of surprise, her eyes were fixed on the girl in front of her.

After looking her up and down, he slowly opened his mouth.

"You ill-mannered little girl! I'm Shengming's cousin-in-law, and you've already attacked me the moment we met?"

Hearing this, Jingwu scoffed, a cold glint flashing in his eyes: "You possess other people's bodies, corrupt their souls, and commit countless evil deeds. Do you think I need to be friendly to you?"

She quickly formed hand seals and glared at the person in front of her, shouting angrily, "Get out of her body now!"

"I won't come out, what can you do to me? Even if you forcibly separate my soul, her soul will be damaged." The woman found a chair and sat down seductively: "Don't you mystics practitioners value cause and effect the most? If you get involved in this cause and effect, it probably won't do you any good for your cultivation."

Hearing these provocative words, Jingwu felt a surge of anger rising within him.

As she stood up and walked outside, she kept talking.

"Since you don't want to go to the temple with me, I won't linger any longer. Farewell, little sorcerer."

Before she could finish speaking, she bumped into the barrier.

Jingwu slowly appeared behind her, his voice carrying a half-smile: "Since we invited you here, how could we let you leave so easily?"

Her gaze fell on Yue Huai, who was walking in from outside. Fortunately, she had discussed with the young man and set up a barrier and array in the courtyard.
