Chapter 136: Ridiculous
When King Hui saw the young girl in front of him, she kept her head down and didn't speak, so he assumed she was considering something.
So, he smiled and increased his bet.
"What do you think of this villa, young lady? If you pledge allegiance to me, I will give it to you. How about it?"
Jingwu looked around, seemingly genuinely considering the matter.
Just when Prince Hui thought she would agree, he heard her clear refusal.
"No, I don't associate with people who use any means necessary."
Jingwu stood up, looking at the person in front of him with a half-smile: "You have committed numerous evils and your methods are ruthless..."
"Shut up!" Seeing her refusal, Prince Hui felt like he had been tricked and immediately flew into a rage. He stood up, walked to her side, and looked down at her: "Don't forget, your cousin still has to take the imperial examination. I can make him fail with a flick of my finger."
Jingwu chuckled: "Then you didn't move your fingers hard enough. After all, you didn't succeed in the provincial examination, did you?"
Prince Hui's eyes were like poison, fixed on her, and he had a strong urge to strangle her.
Now that she knows about the provincial examination, she no longer needs to hide it.
"Since you know this, you should understand that Yue Huai is not a member of the royal family; he is merely the Empress's nephew. You should also understand that I have a greater advantage than him."
Jingwu glanced up and felt even more disgusted.
“I judge people not by their family background, but by their character. Your Highness need not say more; I will never associate with unscrupulous people.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she stood up and prepared to leave.
The next second, guards appeared out of nowhere and surrounded her.
The door creaked shut, and Prince Hui walked up behind her, letting out a cold snort.
"Do you think this place is a place you can come and go as you please? I had the master set up a barrier long before you arrived. You can't leave this courtyard even half a step. You might as well obediently listen to me and either become my concubine or my advisor."
A glint of greed flashed in his eyes as he reached out to touch her face.
The next second, however, they were violently repelled by a barrier.
Prince Hui, with his large frame, fell to the ground instantly. Ignoring the pain in his backside, he looked incredulous and asked, "You dare to lay a hand on me?"
Jingwu glanced at him sideways, a hint of impatience flashing in his eyes.
Why is this person so annoying?!
When the person in front of him ignored him, King Hui immediately waved his hand and ordered the guards next to him to press her down.
The guards, following orders, surrounded the area, but just as they were about to make a move, they were all thrown back by a barrier and fell in a row.
Jingwu coldly looked at Prince Hui, and lit a small flame with his hand: "If you dare to lay a hand on me again..."
“No…” Prince Hui subconsciously took a step back, then realized that this was a loss of face, and immediately steadied himself: “Miss Jing, why must we make such a fuss? Wouldn’t it be better if you obediently became my advisor?”
He saw the girl roll her eyes, and although he was annoyed, he suppressed his temper: "This barrier was specially set up by the master. If you don't agree, don't even think about leaving here."
Jingwu scoffed, his hands quickly forming hand seals, intending to forcefully break through the barrier: "This lousy barrier thinks it can trap me? Overestimating yourself."
"Don't waste your energy, this..."
Before the King of Hui could finish speaking, the girl in front of him vanished into thin air. His eyes widened, and he immediately waved for his men to search for her.
Unable to contain his anger, he threw the teacup, shattering it on the floor.
The entire villa was turned upside down, but Jingwu could not be found.
Prince Hui's face turned extremely pale. He pointed at the steward's nose and angrily shouted, "What use are you if you can't even keep an eye on a woman?"
The steward felt wronged. This was no ordinary woman. With her skills, even the Imperial Guards wouldn't be able to handle her.
However, he didn't dare to say anything, after all, the person in front of him had an even more fiery temper.
After hurling his rant, King Hui gradually calmed down.
He twirled the ring on his finger, a sudden inspiration striking his mind: "Go and bring her parents and family to the capital. I want to see them."
He refused to believe that Jingwu could be so heartless towards his own family.
Although the steward didn't know what his master wanted to do, he immediately agreed and went out to do it.
After breaking through the barrier, Jingwu returned to the street where he set up his stall.
From a distance, one could see Yue Huai frantically calculating something.
Who do you think you are?
Jingwu walked to his side and asked in confusion.
Upon hearing this sound, Yue Huai jumped to his feet and looked him up and down.
Seeing that she was unharmed, he was relieved.
“My guards reported that Prince Hui’s men had taken you away. I rushed over immediately, intending to use your scent to find out where you were. I had only just begun when you returned.”
Jingwu smiled and patted his shoulder: "Don't worry, he can't do anything to me yet."
Yue Huai looked at the person in front of him, opened his mouth as if to say something, but then stopped himself.
"Just say what you have to say," Jingwu said with a smile to the person in front of him.
Yue Huai nodded: "Is Prince Hui planning to win you over?"
Jingwu nodded: "Isn't it ridiculous? He said he would either make me his concubine or his advisor."
Upon hearing this, Yue Huai unconsciously tightened his grip.
"and you……"
Before he could finish speaking, he felt like he was out of his mind.
If Jingwu had agreed, she wouldn't be here anymore.
Yue Huai immediately shook his head and said with a smile, "It is indeed ridiculous."
Seeing his expression, Jingwu assumed he was worried that he might side with Prince Hui, which would be detrimental to the Crown Prince, so he immediately spoke up.
"Prince Hui is ruthless and unscrupulous. Don't worry, I will never side with him, nor will I help him deal with the Crown Prince."
Yue Huai nodded as he listened to the first half of the speech, but he was somewhat stunned when he heard the last sentence.
He looked at the person in front of him with a strange look in his eyes, his face full of unspeakable emotions.
Jingwu, completely oblivious to the expression on his face, then said, "I'm worried he might harm my cousin, but unfortunately I have no connections in the court. I can only ask you to keep an eye out for me."
Yue Huai suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and nodded solemnly: "Don't worry, the imperial examination will never happen again."
Even if they did appear, he would never let them succeed.
Jingwu smiled and nodded: "Thank you."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Jingwu propped his head up, feeling extremely hungry. He asked the boy to watch the stall while he went to the side and bought some pastries.
After I finished buying, I turned around and saw a crowd gathered in front of the stall.
Jingwu's eyes lit up, and he quickly walked forward.
They hadn't walked two steps when they saw that Yue Huai's face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
On the table in front of me was a delicate embroidered ball.
Jingwu was stunned, standing there somewhat bewildered. What was going on?
