Chapter Thirty-Two: The Han Family of the Capital
As soon as Jingwu left the house, she went straight to the orphanage. Her spiritual power was almost depleted, so she needed to quickly accumulate merit and then convert it into spiritual power. Otherwise, she would not feel at ease.
She walked to the gate of the orphanage, found the person in charge, Granny Wang, took out half of the silver from the collection and handed it to her, and gave her her name as usual: "Shao Jiajingwu from Green Bamboo Village".
Looking at the girl who frequently came, Wang Mama smiled and responded before writing her name in her notebook.
She did remember her; usually, it was the ladies and young women from wealthy families who came, but she herself was still wearing linen clothes and had nothing of value on her, yet she came the most frequently.
"You're a kind-hearted young lady. You've been coming here often lately. The children inside are truly blessed to have your help."
Upon hearing this, Jingwu smiled and said, "We are destined to meet."
After she finished speaking, she didn't say anything more. Just as she was about to turn around and leave, she saw several healthy little girls standing timidly in the distance, secretly looking in her direction.
Following her gaze, Granny Wang sighed, "We have mostly girls here."
Hearing this, Jingwu understood what she meant. He pursed his lips, said nothing more, and turned to walk outside.
That's just how the world is. Poor families can't afford to feed many mouths, but they still want a son, so they have no choice but to have him.
They would abandon a girl if she was born, until a son was born.
Fortunately, there are still orphanages that can help some poor girls.
When Jingwu returned home, he found the house empty. He then remembered that they had all gone to his aunt's house to help.
After going upstairs and converting the merits she had gained that day into spiritual power, she went to sleep.
The next morning, Jingwu was heading to South Street when he saw five or six people gathered in front of the Shao family's house.
She frowned slightly as she watched this scene. Could it be that they had come seeking revenge?
"You must be Jingwu." The woman in the lead greeted her with a smile as soon as she came out.
Jingwu looked over and saw that she was wearing a light green embroidered dress and a black cloak.
She had an oval face, almond-shaped eyes, and jet-black hair styled into two buns, adorned with several exquisitely crafted pearl flowers.
She walked towards them at a leisurely pace, a perfectly timed smile playing on her lips.
Jingwu was puzzled. This man's demeanor suggested he came from a wealthy family, but he didn't recognize him.
"Who are you?"
“My name is Jiang Fuxue, you can call me Xue’er.” Jiang Fuxue replied with a smile and respect: “My master invited me here today, please come with me.”
Jingwu frowned slightly upon hearing this: "Who is your master?"
"The Han family of the capital, my young lady has been visiting here these past few days, but unexpectedly encountered something unclean. I've heard that she's skilled in exorcising ghosts and fortune telling, so I've come to invite you to come and take a look."
Jingwu raised an eyebrow; it turned out to be a business opportunity.
She nodded and replied, "Okay, you lead the way, I'll follow you."
Jiang Fuxue finally felt relieved after hearing this reply.
She immediately led the person to the carriage and personally lifted the curtain for her: "Please get in, young lady."
Jingwu looked at the blue carriage in front of him and fixed his gaze on the Akhal-Teke horse in front of it.
What a fine horse! It's a real shame to use it for pulling a cart.
She got into the carriage and immediately felt the warmth inside.
Looking down, I saw a charcoal fire burning in a basin inlaid with gemstones.
Upon seeing this, Jingwu immediately recalled in his mind what kind of family the Han family in the capital was.
She had always stayed in the temple, and although she would sometimes go down the mountain with her master to handle matters, she didn't have a deep impression of these aristocratic families.
After a while, the carriage stopped, and the accompanying maid pulled back the curtain.
Jiang Fuxue went out first, then helped Jingwu down from the carriage.
"Slow down, young lady."
Jingwu nodded slightly, got off the carriage, and looked up to see two huge stone lions crouching at the entrance of the mansion.
Jiang Fuxue then led her through the front hall, down the corridor, and into the backyard.
Inside the pavilion, a woman was already waiting.
This person was the one who got off the carriage that stopped in front of Jiang Yu's house yesterday.
Jiang Fuxue led his people into the pavilion and bowed slightly to her.
"Granny Yue, I have invited the young lady here."
Granny Yue looked at the person in front of her and nodded slightly.
He then pointed to the stone bench opposite him: "Please sit down, young lady, and we'll talk."
Jingwu was puzzled, but he still sat down.
I watched as she gracefully poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of me.
She picked up the teacup and took a sip; it turned out to be top-quality Dongting Biluochun tea.
But isn't this tea usually reserved for royalty?
Jingwu remembered that once, a member of the royal family came up the mountain to ask the master for a favor, and he brought this tea with him, and made it clear that this tea was only available to the royal family.
Could this person in front of me be a member of the royal family?
Jingwu was so curious about the identity of the person in front of him that he immediately did some calculations.
Upon learning the identity of the person in front of him, his heart skipped a beat.
She is the princess's nanny, so the owner of this mansion must be the princess.
Could it be that they discovered the Jing family had a daughter like her, and used the pretext of catching ghosts to lure her here?
She herself didn't care; this mansion couldn't confine her. But what about her uncle's family who had taken her in?
Granny Yue looked at the person in front of her with downcast eyes and a calm expression, making it impossible to tell what they were thinking.
She sighed deeply and said, "I've heard that you can catch ghosts and tell fortunes. How about you tell my fortune?"
Jingwu looked up at the person in front of her, and seeing that she was testing him, he agreed.
"Alright, but I have to pay for fortune telling, ten coins per reading."
Upon hearing this, Granny Yue gestured to Jiang Fuxue, who was standing beside her, to take out ten coins and place them on the table.
Jingwu accepted the ten coins: "What do you want to know?"
Granny Yue thought carefully for a moment, a ripple flashing in her eyes: "I had a daughter when I was young, but she got lost during the Lantern Festival. I wonder if you could help me find out where she is?"
Upon hearing this, Jingwu immediately shook his head.
Upon seeing this, Granny Yue immediately said, "It can't be calculated?"
"No." Jingwu raised his eyes, a hint of a smile in them, and said seriously, "It's because you have no children."
"How could that be? I've given birth myself, don't I know?"
“You entered the household at the age of eight, and entered the palace with your daughter at the age of fifteen. You are still fifty-five years old now, and you have never married or had children.”
Jingwu smiled and looked at the person in front of him, saying, "Am I right?"
Upon hearing this, Granny Yue breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appearing in her eyes.
She nodded and said with a smile, "You are indeed remarkable, young lady."
"Now, may I go see the princess?"
When Granny Yue heard this, she was slightly surprised, but she quickly realized that the person in front of her was a master and should be able to calculate everything.
She thought for a moment and then poured her some more tea.
"Master, you are indeed a genius! The one who encountered the evil spirit is none other than our princess. She has been here to relax for half a year. Half a month ago, she went for a stroll in the countryside and accidentally wandered into the deep forest. Since returning, she has been in a coma. I have consulted countless doctors, but none of them could do anything. Then someone knowledgeable said that the princess had encountered an evil spirit."
Granny Yue sighed softly and explained, "I heard that there is a master on South Street who is very good at fortune telling and catching ghosts, so I invited you here."
"Was that carriage in front of Jiang Yu's house yesterday yours?" Jingwu thought for a moment, then added, "Did you also send someone to tell Zhang Xianzhu to come looking for me?"
"Master is indeed wise." Granny Yue smiled and then stood up: "Please come with me to see the princess."
Jingwu nodded, stood up, and followed her through the corridor into a courtyard.
Granny Yue pushed open the door and led the person inside.
As soon as Jingwu entered, he smelled a strong medicinal aroma, mixed with a trace of demonic energy.
She raised an eyebrow, looked around, and didn't see the glass lamp on the octagonal table.
After squinting and carefully checking, Jingwu vaguely guessed what was going on.
"Master, please come here."
Jiang Fuxue lifted the layers of beaded curtains and led the person to the bedside, saying through a layer of bed curtains, "This is the princess."
