Chapter 125: A True Match

Chapter 125: A True Match

Meanwhile, after Yue Huai finished his bath, he chased the servants out of the room.

He held the silk, wiping his hair as he pondered something.

The door suddenly opened, and a teenager swaggered in and plopped down opposite him.

"Cousin, it's been a long time!"

Yue Huai glanced indifferently at the uninvited guest in front of him and asked, "What brings you here?"

The newcomer was Han Zhiyan, the son of Yue Huai's uncle. He was dressed in blue, wearing a jade crown on his head, and had a smug smile on his lips.

"I came to see you. I heard you brought a girl in. Where is she? Let me see her." Han Zhiyan said, looking for the girl in the room. "With your bad temper, how come a girl is willing to be with you?"

Yue Huai frowned, somewhat displeased, and said, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll tell my uncle that you're going to..."

"Hey, hey, I won't say anymore, I won't say anymore, I'm scared of you." Han Zhiyan pouted, sat on the table, poured himself a cup of tea, took a sip, and then said, "With your bad temper, what girl would want you?"

Yue Huai gave him a cold look, clearly impatient, and opened his mouth to dismiss him: "You came to see me just to say this? If that's all, you can go back now."

"Oh, no, I'm here on serious business." Han Zhiyan's expression turned completely serious as he handed him a letter: "I know you're investigating the owner behind the inn. Guess who this big shot is?"

Seeing his expression, Yue Huai had a bad feeling and took the letter to read it.

“It’s Prince Hui. He’s really bold to do these things right under the emperor’s nose.” Han Zhiyan said while drinking tea. “However, this matter is probably not so simple. I just received news that Prince Hui has sent people to Minister Yu’s residence.”

After reading the letter, Yue Huai's expression turned somewhat unpleasant. He thought for a moment and then spoke.

"Didn't Prince Hui lose the Emperor's favor some time ago? How come he still dares to act so blatantly during this period?"

“You know His Majesty favors Prince Hui.” Han Zhiyan glanced at him, then whispered, “His birth mother, Consort Yi, once shielded His Majesty from a sword, which led to her being weak and dying in childbirth. His Majesty has always felt guilty towards her, so he posthumously promoted her from a low-ranking concubine to Consort Yi and buried her with the honors of an Imperial Noble Consort.”

After recalling what he had just learned, Yue Huai fell silent.

“Cousin, now that you’ve gotten involved in this case, it seems you’ve been targeted by Prince Hui. What are you going to do?” Han Zhiyan asked anxiously when he saw that he hadn’t spoken. “Should we ask our cousin, the Crown Prince, for help?”

“No need.” Yue Huai quickly refused. After thinking for a moment, he said, “If the mastermind behind this is really Prince Hui, then it means that he has a sorcerer by his side. We can’t let the Crown Prince get involved, otherwise it will implicate him.”

"That……"

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Yue Huai nodded to him, indicating that he could rest assured.

Han Zhiyan was worried, but since his cousin had said so, he had no choice but to obey.

The two didn't chat for long before Han Zhiyan got up and left.

After a quick wash, Yue Huai lay in bed, a series of thoughts flashing through his mind.

If it really is the Prince of Hui, then A-Wu and the Shao family are in danger.

They definitely won't get the better of A-Wu, but Shao Chengrui might be a different story.

A mere scholar, powerless and without the strength to even kill a chicken, though he possesses a life-saving charm, fears nonetheless that someone might set a trap for him, causing him to offend a powerful figure.

Yue Huai became increasingly uneasy. After thinking for a long time, he got up and wrote a letter to the Crown Prince.

The next day, Jingwu slept soundly until dawn. She rubbed her eyes as she got up, washed up, and then heard her stomach growling.

She stepped out of her room, intending to find something to eat, when she bumped into the butler who was coming towards her.

"Miss Jing is awake. Young Master Huai is waiting for you in the front hall to have dinner together."

Jingwu's eyes lit up, and he immediately agreed with a smile.

"I'll lead the way for you," the butler said with a smile, walking ahead.

Jingwu followed behind him for quite a while before they reached the front hall.

As soon as she walked in, she saw her older cousin and Yan Shengming there. The three of them were sitting at the dining table, waiting for her to arrive.

Jingwu sat down with a smile: "You all got up so early."

“Yes, the early bird catches the worm.” Yue Huai replied with a smile, while serving her a bowl of porridge: “This porridge is made with top-quality tribute rice, you should try it.”

Upon hearing this, Jingwu immediately scooped up a spoonful and put it in his mouth.

In an instant, the aroma of rice filled her entire mouth; it was soft, sticky, and sweet, making her unable to resist taking another bite.

It truly is top-quality tribute rice; the taste is simply delicious.

Yue Huai looked at her with a smile and was about to speak when he heard Shao Chengrui speak.

"I went out for a stroll this morning and found that the story of what happened at the inn last night has spread throughout the entire capital." Shao Chengrui put a steamed bun on the girl's plate and said jokingly, "Awu, your name has also resounded throughout the entire capital."

"Hmm?" Jingwu lifted his face from the bowl, looking at the person in front of him with great confusion: "Why?"

“Naturally, this is the work of someone with ulterior motives.” Yue Huai’s expression was somewhat unpleasant as he said, “The inn’s owner is Prince Hui. You are definitely being watched now, so be careful. He… is no benevolent person.”

Upon hearing these two words, Jingwu raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but mutter to himself, "How did I run into him again?"

She gave a soft reply and buried her head in her breakfast.

She finished eating in no time and went to the yard to digest her food, her mind still preoccupied with other things.

A moment later, a familiar voice came from afar.

"Awu, you promised me you'd come find me once you got to the capital, why did you break your promise?"

Jingwu paused upon hearing the voice, then turned around and saw Yun Fanjing, dressed in a pink dress, walking towards her with feigned anger.

"Princess? What brings you here?"

"You still have to say that? If it weren't for the nanny telling me about the rumors this morning, I wouldn't have known you came to the capital." Yun Fanjing pouted, her face full of displeasure. "Then I asked the nanny to come out and inquire, and that's how I found out you stayed at my uncle's villa, so I came to find you."

“I just arrived two days ago. I was planning to come find you after I settled in, but I didn’t expect you to come first.”

Jingwu looked at the person in front of him with a gentle light in his eyes, and was surprised. He then quickly made some calculations and raised his eyebrows.

"Has Your Highness had any good news these past two days?"

"Hmm? What do you mean by that?"

Jingwu smiled and jokingly said, "Judging from your face, your destined partner has appeared, and you will soon be happily married."

Upon hearing this, a hint of doubt flashed in Yun Fanjing's eyes: "True love? Where?"
