A few hours ago, the mist had not yet dissipated at the shore of Chengxian Lake.
A boat was moored in the middle of the lake.
The group of people on the lake were none other than Ming Zhuo and his companions, as well as Hu Miao and his wife.
Before leaving last night, Mingzhuo asked Hu Miao to help prepare a boat, as she planned to go to the center of the lake early tomorrow morning. Hu Miao prepared it without hesitation.
As if she had guessed what Mingzhuo was going to do, she waited by the lake with Zhang Long early in the morning.
The morning air was chilly, and Hu Miao was dressed lightly. Zhang Long took off his coat and wrapped it around her, but she didn't notice, as she was only staring at Ming Zhuo.
"Master, is this the place?"
Ming Zhuo glanced at the misty lake, nodded, and said to the others, "Let's begin."
They brought over the monstrous corpse of Hu Mazi, which is now placed on the deck.
Li Wenhe, He Wangyao, and Pei Di all changed into solemn ceremonial robes with Zhuang Xun. Zhuang Xun and Li Wenhe performed the ritual, while He Wangyao and Pei Di assisted.
Performing the ritualistic steps on the boat was clearly quite difficult; even a slightly large movement would cause the boat to sway, but everyone remained solemn.
After lighting incense and candles, burning talismans, and chanting scriptures, Zhuang Xun and Li Wenhe were both slightly sweaty after completing the entire ritual.
Getting to Mingzhuo was much simpler. She casually wiped her hand across the peach wood sword, and beads of blood appeared in her palm. She drew a talisman with the blood and then threw the talisman into the lake.
At that moment, the candlelight flickered, and a pair of feet gradually appeared behind the candle.
Hu Miao held her breath as she watched the person gradually appear, then covered her mouth and tears streamed down her face.
"Sister Shengnan!"
Hu Shengnan looked at her gently, "Miaomiao, you're so grown up now."
She still looks like an eighteen-year-old girl, while Hu Miao is already middle-aged. No matter how well he takes care of himself, there are traces of the hardships around his eyes.
They are separated by life and death, by twenty-four years, and are no longer the same as they were back then.
Hu Miao was overcome with grief.
Hu Shengnan: "Don't be sad. I've already taken my revenge, and I have no regrets."
The village chief and Aunt Xiang were the ones who drugged her and framed Uncle Ma back then. Now that Mingzhuo lifted the restrictions on the lake for her, how could she possibly let those people go?
Last night, she went ashore herself and went to find everyone who was involved in the incident back then, one by one.
Zhuang Xun was stunned. He hadn't expected that Ming Zhuo would actually allow Hu Shengnan to harm people and take lives.
He could sense the ferocity beneath Hu Shengnan's calm exterior, tainted by karmic consequences.
"You shouldn't take people's lives. How will you be reincarnated if you do that?"
He was taken aback when he said that.
It was as if he was convinced that Mingzhuo could help Hu Shengnan remove the Soul-Devouring Nail and send her to reincarnation, but upon closer inspection, he realized that this was simply impossible.
Hu Shengnan smiled and said, "It's not that I don't believe in karma, but I can't wait even a second longer, and I want to take revenge myself."
As for reincarnation, she no longer has the chance.
Hu Shengnan looked at Ming Zhuo and said, "Master, please do it."
Before she was completely obliterated, she was already content to be able to kill her enemies and see her old friends one last time.
Mingzhuo nodded: "Okay."
She raised her hand and slapped Hu Shengnan.
Hu Miao was startled and utterly horrified, "Sister Shengnan!"
Hu Shengnan had already closed her eyes when she suddenly felt something was wrong. She felt no discomfort in her soul, so she looked up at Ming Zhuo in confusion.
"What is that?" He Wangyao felt the ripples on the bottom of the lake getting bigger and denser, and couldn't help but curiously lean out to look into the lake.
Then he saw a huge shadow beneath the ship.
"I've never heard the villagers mention a giant monster in the lake!" The boat rocked violently, and He Wangyao was almost in tears.
He not only has thalassophobia, but also megalophobia. Isn't this a nightmare coming true?
Li Wenhe frowned: "Didn't you check the local county annals? There have always been legends of a lake monster in Chengxian Lake, and there were even reports of fishermen witnessing the monster decades ago."
He Wangyao's heart skipped a beat. Oh no, it's actually true.
In novels, at this point, the people on the boat usually fall into the water one by one like dumplings being boiled, becoming the monster's snacks...
"Who is summoning me?" A strange voice suddenly came from the water. The thing was submerged at the bottom of the boat and did not show itself very carefully.
Mingzhuo: "It's me."
She sat on the gunwale of the boat, smiling as she stepped her feet into the icy lake water. "Could you do me a favor and bring the body from the bottom of the water ashore? I'll pay you if you do it."
Li Wenhe walked over and looked at the bottom of the water. He didn't know how deep the thing was, but the huge black shadow gave people a strong sense of intimidation and oppression.
The thing in the water remained silent for a moment, then slowly sank.
The boat gradually stopped rocking, and He Wangyao asked in surprise, "It's leaving already?"
The terrifying and tense atmosphere just now almost made him think that they were about to fight.
Mingzhuo stared at the water and shook his head. "No."
Sure enough, after a while, the ripples on the water grew larger again, the boat rocked violently, and people could hardly stand. A wave crashed over and drenched them completely.
Only Mingzhuo remained unmoved, smiling as he looked down into the water, his feet still in the lake.
The voice came from the water again, "Here you go, I don't want to collect junk anyway, it's all because you humans keep dumping corpses into my house!"
The voice sounded quite indignant.
Mingzhuo: "Really? Isn't it because you like collecting corpses?"
The thing in the water: "..."
How can this person be like this?! When asking for a favor, can't they at least speak properly?!
