Mingzhuo had just said goodbye to Xie Xiaogang when his phone rang. It was a call from Wu Jiao.
He has information about Chu Yuqi's whereabouts.
"After she fled that day, she went to Yuru City, where the Bai family lives, and then disappeared. We guessed that she might have gone into the Bai family's old house."
Mingzhuo smiled and said, "Oh, that's quite a coincidence."
Wu Jiao: "Isn't that too much of a coincidence? Elder Bai is still pressing us for this matter, demanding that we hand over Chu Yuqi. They've already hidden her away, so how can we hand her over?"
As the prime suspect in the attack on Xu Shanglou using the Incense Ash Gu, the Xuanmen sect has been relentlessly pursuing Chu Yuqi's whereabouts.
However, no sooner had the arrest warrant been issued than Elder Bai called to lodge a strong protest.
To say that Chu Yuqi could not possibly have betrayed the sect and to demand the withdrawal of the arrest warrant is, according to Xuanmen, a slanderous act without any concrete evidence.
They even turned their attention to Ming Zhuo, since several people present at the time of Chu Yuqi's disappearance were controlled by the Incense Ash Gu and were unable to make a clear and independent judgment.
The only person present who was of sound mind was Mingzhuo, so it was clear that Mingzhuo was the one with the bigger problem.
Under pressure, Wu Jiao withdrew the arrest warrant, but did not give up the investigation in secret. He sent people to stake out Yuru City and sure enough, they found Chu Yuqi's whereabouts.
He simply wouldn't believe it if someone said the Bai family was innocent.
"I plan to send someone to probe the Bai family and see what's going on," Wu Jiao said, and he had already prepared a list of candidates.
"Let Xiang Yuhan and Zhuang Xun lead the team. They have experience dealing with incense ash gu and should be able to spot some problems."
Li Wenhe frowned: "Won't sending them alert the enemy?"
These two people visited Beishan Temple with Chu Yuqi, making it hard not to draw connections.
Wu Jiao's actions were well-considered. "The Xiang family and the Zhuang family have personal ties with the Bai family. If the elders of both families make the request, the Bai family will find it difficult to refuse."
Sending someone else over would likely result in being turned away.
Mingzhuo, however, had a different opinion: "If the person is really hiding in the Bai family, sending anyone there will only alert them. I think it would be better to let me go instead."
Wu Jiao said with emotion, "Teacher Ruan, I never expected you to take the lead like this! Even with such a busy schedule as the college entrance examination, you still find time to manage the internal affairs of Xuanmen. You are truly a blessing to Xuanmen!"
Li Wenhe: "..."
He silently sipped his milk tea, thinking to himself that Dean Wu's filter was a bit too thick; Mingzhuo was clearly just looking for trouble with the Bai family.
Mingzhuo: "Since you have no objections, I'm free now. Let's get this over with quickly and send me the money to book the plane tickets."
Wu Jiao had no objections and immediately did as instructed.
Li Wenhe spoke only after Mingzhuo hung up the phone, "You're only this proactive when you're looking for trouble."
Ming Zhuo: "Nonsense, I clearly went to save the Bai family!"
She absolutely won't admit to picking a fight!
Pei Di exclaimed excitedly, "Boss is going to fight? That's great! I'll call Yao Yao and Xian Ze right now!"
Li Wenhe glanced at the injury on his arm. This guy was a warmonger; being injured didn't stop him from calling for men to fight.
Mingzhuo: "Xianze doesn't need to be here. Let him stay in Yunwu City and help look after my family."
A few people decided to leave on a whim and simply meet at the airport.
Not long after they arrived at the airline's VIP lounge, He Wangyao and Xianze also arrived.
Mingzhuo looked at the people behind the two of them and asked, "Axu, why are you here too?"
The exam ended a little early today, and she decided to leave today because she felt there was still plenty of time. But Gu Xu probably hasn't gotten off work yet, right?
Gu Xu stepped forward and looked at Ming Zhuo, "My father is sick, and I need to go back to the Gu family."
After learning that his mother might be a descendant of the Yemei Kingdom, he wanted to go back to the Gu family and ask his father in person.
Now that he knew the twins were holy children of the Saha sect, he had an even worse feeling.
This matter can't be delayed any longer; he must go home as soon as possible.
Just then, the housekeeper called to say that her father had gone to Antarctica and had fallen ill after returning.
He simply put aside his company affairs and rushed to the airport with He Wangyao.
After listening to Gu Xu's explanation, Ming Zhuo nodded, "Okay, then remember to be careful in everything you do."
Gu Xu took out a bronze mirror. "Here, you might find it useful."
Mingzhuo shook his head: "No need. You can keep the bronze mirror yourself, and you can also take these talismans."
Although Ashu is passively immune to magic, he is not very aggressive. If he encounters a powerful opponent, he may be in trouble.
Mingzhuo gave him a talisman, which he might not be able to use, but it was better than nothing.
He Wangyao felt uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen.
“In TV shows, when something big happens at this point, it’s bound to be something big. There might be a trap waiting for A-Xu at the Gu family’s place.” He secretly discussed with Li Wenhe, “But Uncle Gu is sick. I can’t just tell A-Xu not to go back. That would seem too unfilial. What should I do?”
Li Wenhe: "..."
He rubbed his temples. "You said you couldn't persuade him, so what else can we do? He's going home, not into some dangerous place. It's all just your imagination. On the contrary, we can foresee that there will be danger on our trip to the Bai family."
He Wangyao: "That's different. What danger could we possibly face if we followed the boss? He could cut down any demons or monsters with a single sword strike. But A-Xu is all alone."
A classic rule in horror movies: those who are alone usually die quickly.
Li Wenhe: "Then why don't you go with him to the Free State?"
He Wangyao had a sudden thought; it wasn't impossible...
