Chapter 348 I Know Where She Is

“She’s not. No matter how similar the two people are, their eyes can’t lie,” Gu Xu said. “We might have mistaken her for someone else in our haste, but the reason we have such a preconceived notion is because we’ve been misled.”

He turned to look at Wen Shaoan.

Wen Shaoan probably realized immediately that this woman was not Linglan, but he deliberately raised questions to lead everyone to doubt.

He then put on a show of heartbreak and pain, which completely dispelled any doubts that might have been raised.

Mingzhuo walked up to Wen Shaoan and said, "You're quite clever. You not only saw through the substitution trick, but you also immediately turned the tables on him."

Wen Shaoan gave a bitter smile: "But you still managed to see through me, didn't you? But since you've already found Yuan Qingwan, just release Linglan."

Mingzhuo: "I just praised you for being smart, how come you're acting stupid again right away?"

This person is truly stubborn and won't shed a tear until they see the coffin; they still firmly believe that lily of the valley is just lily of the valley.

"Who are you? Explain yourself now! Where is Yuan Qingwan?" Fang Linxiao demanded sharply of the woman.

The woman trembled with fear, shaking her head frantically, her whole being like a frightened bird.

Gu Xu: "You don't need to scare her. She can't explain it clearly. I suspect... she doesn't have a tongue anymore."

Mingzhuo nodded. She had just observed that "her tongue must have been cut off a long time ago."

He paused and then added, "Moreover, this person must be related to Yuan Qingwan by blood to be able to substitute one person for another and make these ghosts mistake her for someone else."

Everyone felt a chill run down their spines. If that were the case, then Yuan Qingwan was truly wicked, capable of even harming her own family.

"Do you know where she ran away to?" Xie Xiao asked Wen Shaoan. She didn't understand why this man was still protecting that vicious woman.

Wen Shaoan closed his eyes, refusing to answer.

From the very first day he met Linglan, he knew what kind of woman she was, but so what? He was still deeply in love with her and couldn't extricate himself.

With no leads available, everyone was at a loss for what to do.

Fang Linxiao thought for a moment and said, "I will immediately send people to seal off the village's exits and search every house."

Mingzhuo: "No need for that. I know where she is."

She led everyone back to the villa they had visited before.

Special forces have taken over the area; some are escorting the servants, while others have gone to the basement to collect the corpses.

The remains that were cleared out were placed in the yard, and after being counted, they would be transported away.

After all, there are still many villagers nearby, and in order to avoid causing panic, these things need to be cleared away as soon as possible.

Mingzhuo asked, "Has the upstairs been searched?"

"We've searched it. The living quarters are upstairs, and there's a lot of valuables inside, probably stolen money. Our people are taking inventory," a special agency representative said as they approached.

This is all standard procedure; everyone is professional and knows what to do.

Mingzhuo nodded, then unexpectedly walked to the truck next to him and ripped open the skeletons on it.

Linglan probably thought her plan was foolproof. Even if the scapegoat didn't take a group of people with him, he would be enough to draw her attention, and she could hide under the corpses and escape in the chaos.

Seeing that she could no longer hide, she hurriedly jumped up to try to escape, but Mingzhuo lashed out with his whip, which wrapped around her thigh, and she fell face-first into the dirt with a thud.

What's most infuriating is that the whip was her own weapon, which Mingzhuo took away and used to whip her, its master.

Linglan glared at Mingzhuo with resentment: "You little bastard, I shouldn't have let you give birth to me!"

Mingzhuo walked over and stepped on her wrist. "Don't talk like you didn't do anything. Didn't you cast a spell on me back then?"

Linglan's well-maintained, fair hands were chafed raw by the rough ground, and blood flowed down her cheeks.

Those who came to clean up the mess were all from the logistics department. Seeing such a beautiful woman being treated like this, they all immediately showed reluctance.

I feel that even criminals have human rights, and what Mingzhuo did was somewhat humiliating.

Fang Linxiao stepped forward, somewhat hesitantly, "Teacher Ruan, is she Yuan Qingwan?"

But she looks way too young; she looks no more than thirty, probably because she dresses in a mature and sexy style.

Linglan: "I am not Yuan Qingwan. Yuan Qingwan is my mother. You have arrested the wrong person."

She looked pitiful and cried, "I have done a lot of wrong things, but they were all done at my mother's behest. Can you please let me go?"

The special department personnel brought the woman from earlier over as well. The two women stood together, their features very similar, but one was in her thirties and in her prime, while the other was in her sixties or seventies with white hair.

To anyone else, they looked like a mother and daughter.

“If you confess properly, we will consider reducing your sentence.” Someone immediately believed her tears.

Linglan felt a surge of smugness. These men, deep down, are all scoundrels. As long as she remained beautiful, there would always be someone who would take pity on her.

Even if Mingzhuo catches her, so what? During the escort, she still has a chance to escape by taking advantage of the man's soft heart.

"Why don't you take another look at her face?" Mingzhuo sincerely suggested.

The man who had just been sympathizing with Linglan paused for a moment, and when he saw the change in Linglan's face, he was immediately shocked.

"How...how could this be?" He was so frightened that he took a few steps back.

Linglan was confused, but she was eager to seize the opportunity. Seeing Gu Xu walking over, she hurriedly said with tears welling up in her eyes, "I didn't hurt you just now, and I even let you go, didn't I?"

She hoped that Gu Xu could put in a good word for her, since Gu Xu seemed like the kind of person who gave orders.
