Gu Xu had already climbed over the wall and, in a moment of crisis, rushed forward and grabbed Pei Di's hands.
The thing below seemed somewhat wary of Gu Xu, but then it frantically pulled the two of them down.
They were determined to take both of them away in one fell swoop.
Pei Di's entire body was submerged in the cave. Only then could he see that there were scattered white bones at the bottom of the cave, and he didn't know whether they were human or animal.
If you weren't actually in the middle of it, you wouldn't be able to see the skeletons underneath from above.
He was so frightened that his scalp tingled, and in his nervousness, he kicked several times, even kicking the thing at the bottom in the face.
With a tinkling sound, Gu Xu's bronze mirror fell to the ground.
The thing below screamed and suddenly let go.
Neither of them had anticipated this turn of events. Pei Di nervously swallowed and said to Gu Xu above, "Should I jump down and retrieve it?"
"No need." Gu Xu took a deep breath and, taking advantage of the fact that the thing below had stopped attacking, pulled Pei Di out of the cave.
Pei Di was overjoyed to see the light of day again and wept with joy. Luckily, it was him who came. If it had been He Wangyao, with his arm strength, he would probably have been dragged away by the evil spirit in no time.
He glanced at his ankle, where two horrifying black handprints emanated, exuding a chilling aura that suggested just how ferocious the ghost had been.
Pei Di lit an exorcism talisman and moved his legs into the sun to bask in it. The wisps of yin energy gradually dissipated and did not continue to invade his bone marrow.
However, to completely eradicate it, Mingzhuo's intervention is still needed.
When he turned around to call out to Gu Xu, he saw a horrifying scene: Gu Xu jumped down into the cave without hesitation!
"Mr. Gu!!!"
For a moment his mind went blank. He was going to die. Mr. Gu didn't know magic!
——
Gu Xu used the cave wall for leverage and descended to the bottom of the cave.
The bottom is hollow, the space is larger than I imagined, forming a boot shape, with an underground river at the toe.
The temperature at the bottom of the cave was very low, and the chilling air seemed to penetrate deep into one's lungs, freezing the blood in one's body.
Using the faint light overhead, Gu Xu made his way towards the spot with two points of light.
In the darkness of the cave walls, one dark figure after another suddenly appeared, staring at him lifelessly.
His gaze was filled with venom and lust, yet he hesitated to approach due to some apprehension.
Gu Xu: "Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I'm just here to retrieve the bronze mirror."
He walked to the bright spot, but before he could pick up the bronze mirror, his vision suddenly went completely dark.
The last bit of sunlight overhead disappeared.
This is clearly abnormal; Pei Di is on top, so he certainly wouldn't be covering the opening.
Unless, something happens to the people in charge.
——
Pei Di was about to call Ming Zhuo when he took out his phone and realized that the signal was bad on the mountain and he couldn't make the call.
Upon seeing the monk appear at the intersection, he was overjoyed. "Master, come quickly and help! My companion has fallen into a hole, and there are evil spirits down there!"
The monk hurried over, "Amitabha, what exactly happened?"
“Just now, a demon disguised itself as a child and tricked me into going down, but my companion saved me…” Pei Di briefly explained the situation.
"Please, Master, make a trip here immediately and fetch my boss, Ruan Mingzhuo!"
As he spoke, he suddenly looked at the monk warily, "Why do I feel like I've never seen you before?"
The monk smiled and said, "I was injured last night, and the abbot told me to rest during the day. It's normal that you haven't seen me."
Pei Di breathed a sigh of relief. "I see."
He glanced at the monk's shadow. If he had a shadow and dared to stand in the sun, he was a human, not a ghost.
"Then I'll trouble you..." He had just raised his head when he caught a glimpse of the shadow's movements out of the corner of his eye, and his heart skipped a beat.
Before he could escape or warn anyone, a karate chop landed, and Pei Di immediately lost consciousness.
——
There was no light, and even sound seemed to be completely swallowed up by the darkness.
But those gazes didn't disappear; in fact, they drew even closer.
Gu Xu knew they were afraid of him, and he also knew that even if they were reduced to ashes, they would still want to kill him.
Why? He was puzzled. All the other ghosts and monsters avoided him like the plague, but the evil spirits underground did not.
He vaguely remembered that the bronze mirror was just a step or two away, but it was nowhere to be found now.
He dripped blood onto the bronze mirror, and the ghosts probably wouldn't dare touch it, so it's highly likely that his position changed.
The space here is very strange. Even someone as oblivious to yin energy as him could feel the oppressive terror. Clearly, this is not the human world.
Gu Xu simply groped his way to sit down. He trusted Ming Zhuo; if he were in danger, she would definitely be able to sense it.
The scenery before him began to slowly change, and a blurry figure appeared in front of him.
"Ah Zhi, is that you?" he couldn't help but ask.
Luo Zhi stood by the dark river not far away, looking at him with a compassionate yet tender gaze. "A Xu, you shouldn't have come here."
"You already know, right? The prophecy about the twins—only one of us is destined to live."
The scenery rushed past, and Gu Xu saw his younger self and Luo Zhi. He saw that Luo Zhi had chosen to leave with her mother in order to save him.
After that, time split into two lines. He enjoyed a life of luxury in an international metropolis and received an elite education as an heir; while Luo Zhi cultivated in the deep mountains and forests, facing death at every turn.
Many years later, Luo Zhi had grown into the person his mother had hoped for, but the Saha sect was still quite dissatisfied with this holy child.
Because Luo Zhi is too kind.
He had no blood on his hands, but the deity was always dissatisfied and kept urging his mother to harden her heart.
