Chapter Fifty-Six: Forest and Sunset

Sometimes, speeches don't need lengthy scripts. In fact, a heartfelt speech is far more effective than you might imagine.

Whether or not the monsters need an inspiring speech before the war begins is another matter, and Ira isn't sure if the monsters will mutini, but there's no doubt that...

Now, whether it's the Headless Horseman, the Black Knight, or any other monster, they all harbor a complex mix of emotions that are hard to define.

Perhaps it was anger at the traitors, or perhaps it was recognition of the demon king, the scarlet dragon named Satan Ye, but the demons on the march were now advancing with all their might, like arrows shot out, or spears determined to pierce the throats of the traitors.

“Satan Ye, your speech was very effective.”

As Ira spoke softly, he knew that Satan had never considered the concept of "effectiveness" or "ineffectiveness." He added, "I wouldn't be surprised if your words came from the mouth of an Imperial general who has commanded numerous battles."

So, did I do a pretty good job?

Satan asked with a flushed face as she flew through the air with Ira, guiding the army ahead of them... The headless knight's speed was not well utilized in the forest.

Therefore, Satan and Ira were able to fly very easily in front of them.

Of course, there is no doubt that even if the headless knight left the forest, he still could not match the speed of the crimson dragon on the plains... After all, the crimson dragon is a race of a very high level, after all, it is a race that can become a demon king in the prime material plane.

"You did a great job."

As Ira praised him, he realized that such direct praise was better than bland praise that might be mistaken for a quarrel... at least for a young girl, but for a king, it was a different story.

But the king of the empire is a king, while the king of the Demon King's territory can be a girl, or at least a girl before becoming a king, or a cute loli.

"Did you see that? Everyone is moving forward with a passion that I like to call anger."

As Ira sighed, he reached out and patted Satanie's head. Seeing her puzzled expression, he said, "Anger brings power, for better or for worse... but it is something that should not be taken for granted, because it breaks the still waters."

"Like delicious food?"

Satan Ye, who had heard Ira say before that "only good food and inner anger should not be betrayed," looked down at the marching monsters and said, "Everyone seems to have become very motivated."

"Mr. Blackie, and Miss Lotia too, everyone seems to have become incredibly energetic."

Ira smiled and nodded at Satanye's words. Perhaps Satanye didn't understand the meaning behind her words, but Ira did. He asked, "Do you know why everyone has become so motivated?"

"Is it because they want to eliminate the rebels for the Demon King's territory?"

"almost."

Ira answered, looking at the path in the forest, which he widened in an instant with blazing flames, burning trees, weeds, small animals and large animals to piles of ashes in a flash.

Iraq said "almost", so obviously there are still some differences.

"Because you are the Demon King, after you said those words, everyone has no reason not to be angry."

As he spoke, Ira gazed leisurely at the marching army below, watching them advance along the still-scorching road. He said, "Everyone agrees with you, so they all feel your resentment and your anger. Therefore, they will suppress these emotions in their hearts and then erupt for your sake."

Satan Leaf naturally believed this. She blinked gently, her tail swishing happily behind her, and said, "Yes, everyone is such a nice person~ I feel really lucky to have met you all."

These words shouldn't be uttered by a king, but for Satan Ye, they didn't seem out of place at all.

Greer Forest is a natural barrier located in the southern part of the Demon King's territory, separating the Demon King's territory from the territories of other monsters.

If the Empire or other countries want to advance all the way to the heart of the monster-controlled territory, they can either occupy the area from the border and try to cross this forest, or they can attack from the north of the monster-controlled territory by waterway.

However, even in its decline, the Demon King's territory, with its sirens army, still possessed a naval force that other countries could not easily overcome. The warships standing in those naval ports were proof of this, even though the sirens had now betrayed them.

This path was originally the route for the Demon King's troops to leave this place to support the front lines or other territories. However, because there had been no battles requiring rapid marches for a long time, the official road had turned into a small path as the trees grew.

On the day that Ira was exhausted of both her stamina and world runes, she followed the great river that flowed from west to east, flowing into its southeastern branch, and was intercepted by the Demon King's forces in this forest.

That makes it sound like Iraq is some kind of valuable commodity...

This is a very large forest, and it was estimated that the army would not be able to cross it until tomorrow morning. However, with Iraq clearing the way, they may be able to cross the forest and reach the plains to set up camp before tonight.

After all, it is now the headless horsemen's troops that are slowing down the march.

Even if their warhorses were easy to control and maneuver, four legs would still make it difficult to increase speed on a not-so-wide road.

At least no matter what, no one can be faster than the tireless Black Knight or the insectoids who are naturally suited to moving in the forest.

Not to mention the flying Ira and Satan, and the swarms of harpies... Incidentally, most of the insectoids brought along this time are insectoid hunters, who can also fly, just not for long periods of time.

While chatting with Satan Leaf, dusk soon fell. It was at this moment that Ira and Satan Leaf, who were leading the way, saw colors different from those in the dark forest.

The trees ahead thinned out, and the beautiful red sunset finally shone through the layers of leaves into the forest, turning the already somewhat dark forest into a beautiful red.

As they rushed out of the forest, a beautiful sunset appeared before their eyes.

"The darkness has passed, Satanieh."

Ira said this in a soft voice.

"Um."

Satan nodded.
