Chapter Seventy-Six: The Power of Rules?

"If you can, you can think of the [plane] as a bubble... like the soap bubble that a child blows up when blowing up a balloon. If you don't know what a soap bubble is, think of it as the bubbles formed by rubbing soap shavings while washing clothes."

"Then, clusters of tiny bubbles, which are clusters of universes. Don't ask me what a universe is. A universe is a [plane]. You can just understand it that way for now... The plane of your world is equivalent to a universe."

“The clusters of bubbles are like individual ‘worlds,’ different from the worlds we usually talk about. What we need to destroy now are these clusters of bubbles.”

"..."

In the silence, the serpent sheath asked the unspeakable goddess, tapping the chessboard with a "tap tap" sound, "Can you understand this analogy?"

During their previous interactions, even the snake had to admit that the young goddess truly lived up to her title of goddess; in terms of intelligence alone, she was indeed superior to her.

Well... Snake Shedding can't really be called stupid. If she wanted, her calculation ability could be raised to a terrifying level at any time. But this is not her original "intelligence", but a false thinking ability constructed with her abilities.

She wouldn't consider something like that as her own.

"Of course, your explanation is concise and vivid... From your description, it is indeed more difficult to move from one bubble cluster to another than to move between bubbles."

The young goddess spoke, imagining bubbles tightly packed together, connected only by thin bubble walls, and then said, "So, you and Ira aren't from one bubble (plane) but from another bubble pile?"

Moving from one bubble to another only requires passing through a small layer of barriers, but running from one bubble pile to another requires traversing a very, very long distance.

From a washroom where clothes are being washed to a maid beating clothes by a small river... if we describe a "plane" as bubbles, then the "distance" between the bubbles is quite terrifying.

"Yes, but only for Yinla, he was born from a pile of bubbles, while for me..."

As she spoke, the snake pondered for a moment, then decided there was no need for further metaphors. She asked directly, "Do you believe in the existence of gods?"

Girl God: "???"

This is similar to Batman asking Superman, "Are humans alone in the universe?" Both of them should know the answer to whether extraterrestrials (gods) exist.

However, this time the snake's molt wasn't meant to express any sentiment.

"In my view, all of you gods are merely false, pseudo-gods, a race called 'gods,' because I know... there is a true, absolute god who does not even claim to be a god."

As she spoke, she continued using the same analogy as before, saying, "You can imagine a giant snake flying in the air, with countless bubble clusters flying around it... feeding on those bubble clusters."

"The giant serpent doesn't literally mean swallowing the world whole, but rather feeding on a certain concept of those worlds. The world that is eaten is very likely to experience all sorts of disasters, such as an omnic crisis or a biological crisis."

"If we were to call her, she would be the [World-Devouring Serpent], a serpent that devours worlds."

"..."

The young goddess pondered. She wasn't the type to get angry just because she was called a "false god," but she was still somewhat unwilling and said helplessly, "It's a 'snake' again. You're a snake too, and the 'world-devouring snake' you speak of is also a snake."

Wait, is there any connection between these?

The snake-skinned deity nodded to the girl who seemed to have thought of something, and explained, "Because my sister and I were just some tiny scales that were rubbed off when the [Devouring Serpent] was rolling around in her sleep... To her, they were just some dander."

“We flew into worlds and named them after things that were similar to rules… Snake skins are not special; there may be seven or eight snake skins in a world at the same time.”

That's truly... a terrifying existence.

The young goddess couldn't help but make this judgment. Looking at the snake molt, which she considered to be "invincible," she commented, "If just the shed scales have such invincible power... no, not only invincible power, but also the ability to traverse worlds."

Because it can travel freely between worlds, it can simply use its power to solve any problems it encounters.

"But if you're referring to the rules, I have those rules too."

As the young goddess spoke, she squeezed out some golden light from her fist and said, "This is the power of the sun, the authority of the sun god... We also call it the rule."

"..."

“There are some errors in what you said; well, you can safely tell Illa everything I said before, or rather, I will tell him when he comes next time, but after that… you absolutely must not utter a single word.”

At this point, the snake molt became slightly serious and said, "I am not invincible. There is no difference in combat power between snake molts. They are all equal. Although there is a slight difference in combat power, they are similar to each other... other snake molts can fight just as well as me."

"Besides these, there are three things called [Snake Shedding], [World], and [Rules], which are the answers to all the heavens and myriad worlds, and also the ultimate form of power... When you master any one of them, you will be on the same level as me."
