The Archon is a combat position that allows anyone to absorb any kind of mana, whether it's from monsters, humans (before any restrictions are imposed), or elves, and use it as their own mana.
This involves borrowing, which means asking the World Tree in the name of the Mana Master (whether dead or alive) to borrow this portion of Mana... and then using it to release power.
Mana's repayment for this part will be delayed.
This raises a question that, under normal circumstances, would not need to be considered at all—only creatures within the World Tree system can be utilized by the Archon.
But generally speaking, everyone belongs to the World Tree system... even gods are no exception.
But what if some things' mana is even older than the World Tree itself? What would happen then? Although the Archons would still stuff any mana they asked for into the Wing Pillars, where would they borrow mana if they needed to use their power?
...
"I'm sorry, my action of deactivating the shield just now was... very inconsiderate."
As Ira spoke, he blinked his icy blue eyes apologetically and said, "My mana-based defenses were unharmed, so I made a wrong judgment. It seems I underestimated the calamity."
"..."
Something's not right... I feel like something's not quite right.
Ernie thought to herself, then opened her mouth, looking at Ira, whose tone and words seemed normal... She gazed into Ira's icy blue eyes and said, "I... underestimated you."
I never expected that Ira would be able to absorb even a Mana of the [Calamity] level.
As she spoke, Ernie looked up at the empty sky and said, "You've really given us so many surprises lately. Everyone was probably stunned just now... Of course, besides the surprises, there were also some shocks."
"..."
"I'm so sorry... haha~"
Ira responded softly, his eyes narrowed as he felt Mana being struggled to restrain within him... For the first time, his teeth chattered from the cold, but his eyes remained as cold as ever.
No, that's not "as always," that's not the look Iraq usually has in his eyes!
Perhaps Iraq is indifferent, indifferent, and calm, but it should never be so terrifying with such a chilling meaning, it should not be like this... just looking at it is like facing a calm and deadly snow.
"Ira, are you alright?"
When Ernie asked this, Ira nodded weakly while shivering, replying, "For now, I'm alright... but I'm not feeling very well."
As he said this, Ira took a deep breath and, under the watchful eyes of many outsiders, said, "There's no mistake, this Mana of [Zero Degree Cold] doesn't have a real consciousness as its vessel... In other words, the so-called [Zero Degree Beast] is these Manas."
As she spoke, icy blue mana poured out from Ira's body, gently enveloping Ernie... After hesitating for a moment, Ernie did not resist, but allowed the mana to form a new protective barrier around her body.
Then, both the scarlet and crimson shields disappeared simultaneously...
Ira directly exposed his body to the previous cold, showing no reaction whatsoever. He looked at Ernie and said, "Now, you should be able to feel... the malice these cold manas harbor towards the world itself."
Yes, now that Ernie is enveloped in Ira's icy blue mana, she can clearly sense that... this mana is not directed at any living being, or even at her, but at the world itself.
This world itself is built upon the framework of the World Tree.
If Ira hadn't been holding these manas back so tightly, they would have immediately tried to burrow into Ernie's body and lower her temperature to absolute zero... The chill was terrifying.
However, Ira quickly opened the mana bundle again and said, "Take care of yourself. I'm going to withdraw the mana... To be honest, I'm not feeling very well right now... I can't control these manas."
As Ira spoke, he looked at Ernie, who had protected him again. He watched the icy blue Mana flutter at his fingertips before returning to his body. He watched Mana, like a veil of light gauze and silk mist, drift and fly freely.
Ira's words were strange, because he was indeed genuinely controlling the calamity power called "Zero Degree Cold," a power... enough to drive an outsider to the brink of despair, something everyone could see.
This also shows just how much Ernie trusted Ira.
"I have only temporarily become the consciousness of the calamity... or rather, the decision-maker."
As he spoke, he explained casually, “Everything in the world has mana, but the amount of mana that can be absorbed by a thing depends on its suitability… whether it is stone, outsider, professional, or commoner; but I do not.”
Yes, there wasn't a single trace of Mana belonging to the Consul inside him.
"In other words, when I incorporated the Mana of Calamity into my body and displayed the [Wings] of that Calamity, I was identified as a part of Calamity... I am the only [Mind of Calamity], ruling the Calamity."
As he said this, Ira narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at everything covered in ice and snow before him. He made a judgment, his teeth chattering as he said, "But I cannot defy their will and command them... I cannot resolve this disaster."
