Chapter 47 Lesson: The Responsibility of a King

"Do any of you have anything to report?"

In Satan's words, the leader of the constructs began to report: "The port, the fishing port, construction, is basically complete, only, there are no fishing boats, and it may be necessary to purchase them."

Iraq confirmed this yesterday after running around trying to find out.

“Mr. Ira mentioned this to me again yesterday.”

The ghostly girl with glasses, whose body appeared black and white and transparent, said this as she took out her notebook and reported to Satan Ye: "Due to funding issues, we can basically rule out purchasing fishing boats from other countries."

While the reason given was financial constraints, the Demon King's territory could easily afford to buy one or two, or even five or six fishing boats. However, it would be somewhat embarrassing to buy only one or two fishing boats from other countries.

While the Demon King's territory may not be particularly concerned with saving face, things that are too embarrassing should still be avoided if possible.

Actually, everyone knows this perfectly well.

With Satan Ye's curious commentary, Ira, sitting in the corner, spoke up: "We've finalized the plan: to purchase fishing boats from the territories of other monsters."

If this were in the Empire, Ira would have patiently explained and guided Isabella, seeing her despair, to why she had made such a choice. But not now.

Satan Ye is not suited to be a solitary king, so there is no need for him to learn this kind of knowledge, even though it seems a bit unfair to Satan Ye... As a teacher, I am a little incompetent.

(Isabella: @#¥%&!)

Without explaining to Satan Ye why he came to this conclusion, he looked at Senata and said, "I later contacted Senata, and according to her information, siren-like monsters have joined the territory of the Gorgon."

With Ira's words and the vampire girl Senata nodding in agreement, Satan Ye fell into thought, saying, "Hmm... Gorgons? Should we buy from them?"

"..."

Everyone present knew the answer to this question, but Satan Ye seemed genuinely naive to think that it involved buying from other territories... If that were the case, he wouldn't have brought it up in this way.

"Unfortunately, the Gorgons don't seem to be planning to pay their taxes for this quarter before the end of winter... I mean, they probably aren't planning to pay their offerings at all."

As Ira spoke, Satanye raised her head to meet his gaze. She seemed to realize something as well, and after glancing around at all the leaders, she asked, "Have the Medusas betrayed us too? How many territories have chosen to defect?"

As these words were spoken, the insectoid leader clenched his fist tightly, and the other leaders who commanded the army also seemed to be suppressing something, keeping their heads down and remaining silent.

"Of the seventy-four territories ruled by monsters, according to my intelligence, only forty of them can be confirmed to pay their tribute on time before the end of this quarter."

As she said this, Senata shook her head helplessly and said, "Although these things are 100% certain, even if it really comes to the end of the quarter, the number won't increase much."

"..."

"In other words... do the thirty-four territories no longer recognize me as the Demon King?"

As Satan Ye spoke, she sighed with deep emotion. Ever since her father died on the battlefield, there had been signs of disintegration within the Demon King's territory. She felt fortunate that the problem could be delayed until winter.

However, her words were too sorrowful; as a demon king, she shouldn't be so humble and melancholic.

"However, the Demon King is the Demon King, and he does not need the approval of those rebels."

Sylvia said this softly, but her words did not reassure Satan Ye. Instead, Satan Ye smiled and nodded as if nothing had happened, as if she really didn't care.

"..."

However, she couldn't hide it from everyone; apart from Vera, no one knew what to say...

"Lord Demon King."

The leader of the Black Knights, clad in black armor, spoke in a voice that evoked the gentleness of a kind man, comforting Satan Ye, saying, "Don't worry about what other territories think. We've always known that you are the only Demon King."

This statement is valid, but not very effective.

"I know, let's continue with the story of the Gorgon..."

Ira pondered for a moment before speaking to Satan, who seemed completely absorbed in official business. He said, "I need your opinion on how to deal with Gorgon and the other traitors."

After considering this for a moment, Satan Ye said, "Well, Mr. Ira, you can decide..."

Ira: "No!!"

"Huh?!"

Seeing Satan Ye's strange gasp of surprise, Ira softened his tone and said calmly, "As the Demon King, you are responsible to all the demons."

Ira looked at the other leaders who were looking at him, and met the gaze of Satan Ye, who had a bewildered look in his eyes. He gently instructed, "For territories that are loyal, you need to show them the meaning of loyalty. For territories that betray you, you also need to deal with them accordingly."

"Because you are the Demon King, not us, you will ask for our opinions, and we will give our thoughts. But you need to know that the one who makes the 'yes or no' decision is you (the Demon), not us."

As Ira said this, amidst the relieved looks of those who seemed to have realized something, she continued, "Your orders can determine the fate of others. Whether you declare the end of the traitors' lives or declare that they will be led back to the right path, it is a responsibility you must bear."

After Ira finished speaking, Satanye fell into deep thought.

These words shouldn't have been spoken in the court, but the Demon King's territory didn't seem to care, so Ira directly taught Satan Ye this way... A king needs to bear the responsibilities that belong to a king, and Satan Ye needs to understand this.

Moreover, Satan Ye wouldn't care about that at all; she'd probably study very seriously, right? This kind of queen is indeed quite adorable.

"Hmm... So, I shouldn't just let you decide? I need to be more responsible... but I just don't know how to handle this, what should I do?"

Regarding Satan's doubts, Ira felt that the nature of the council had changed, and he began to patiently teach, saying, "Ask us, we certainly each have our own thoughts."

"But... oh, I see, I'm supposed to be the one making the decision, right? Cough cough, thank you, Mr. Ira. This is my first time being king, so I don't quite understand."

As if understanding Ira's meaning, Satanie said apologetically, turning her gaze to all the leaders and asking loudly, "So, what are your opinions on how to deal with the confirmed rebellious territories?"

His voice was high-pitched and resonant, his face radiating the confidence of a king.

It seems that something has changed from this moment on.
