Chapter Nine: Sincerity is a Weapon

"I want to annihilate the [Calamity]!"

The young boy said this, his body covered in frostbite, looking very weak, but his calm eyes held a hint of determination... He looked up at the star-like figure, his voice filled with resolve.

Generally speaking, after discovering hidden secrets, humans or other intelligent beings who come to the astral plane through the "gate" always crave things like "wealth," "health," and "power."

Of course, there are also many who hope to bring the dead back to life.

However, this is the first time I've encountered an astral being who so directly declared that they would "annihilate the calamity," just like this young man... It seems they have indeed suffered a lot from the "calamity."

The astral body was not surprised that this human boy knew the name of "Calamity". After Ira revealed everything, the news had gradually spread to various countries almost during the banquet.

Whether they were high-ranking officials or ordinary people, they quickly learned the truth about the calamity, which was naturally what Ira wanted to achieve... Only in this way could the desired outcome be achieved through the external force called "calamity".

Which calamity?

As the astral being asked this question, it did not, as it had done before, immediately inquire whether the person could pay a price after making a request, because it would not actually help resolve the calamity.

Even if they could, the young man in front of them couldn't afford the price.

Astral bodies are not benevolent beings, at least not now.

“Every calamity.”

The boy pleaded, looking somewhat tired, and addressed the astral body that he believed to be more powerful than any calamity: "It is every calamity that Lord Ira spoke of, whether we know it or not."

That's far too greedy.

"..."

Do you know the price you'll have to pay to obtain information about [solving the calamity]?

As the astral body spoke, she looked at the boy before her, her empty face gazing in his direction. She shook her head and said, "Do you have the resolve to give your all... including your life, including your soul?"

"Besides, even if you give up everything, you can only get a portion of the information. It's just a drop in the ocean compared to the whole calamity. That's all... You can ask for something else."

The underlying meaning of this statement is—please go back.

However, even an astral being cannot imprison the other's soul... that is the authority of the gods.

"Intelligence...right...you can only give people knowledge...that's what my grandfather's book says..."

The lost and dejected boy spoke these words to himself, appearing quite dazed. His face gradually turned mournful, and then he covered his face and burst into tears...

However, the astral body had enough patience to wait for him to cry his tears dry.

"But, but..."

The boy sobbed. He didn't really understand how important the "world" that Ira spoke of was, but he knew very well that his family and his friends were gone, and his kingdom was beginning to fall into danger.

It's a small country, not a great place... It's like a disaster that affects everyone equally, and that's the most unfair thing.

"But everyone around me is dead..."

That has nothing to do with astral bodies.

"Lord Ira and the King said they were going to save the world... I don't understand how we're supposed to do it. It seems like everything is still the same as before, except that the people I love are gone."

This is also unrelated to astral bodies.

“I don’t know what I can do, but Lady Ira and His Majesty the King must be doing something incredible… My mother says I deserve to live more than she does, I don’t understand…”

"..."

"..."

So long-winded.

Astral thought to himself, but still tried his best to be a good listener... even though he was no longer the "Black Morning Star of Trading Knowledge" but more like a psychologist.

"But I remembered what she said, so..."

As the boy spoke, he realized he had stopped crying sometime earlier. He raised his head and said, "There must be someone more deserving of living than me, if that [information] is indeed useful..."

"..."

In the silence, the astral body raised its head... It looked at the boy with some surprise, though its expression certainly didn't reveal its inner thoughts.

But barring any unforeseen circumstances, the boy has already made his decision.

"I want to make a trade, you can have both my body and my soul..."

The boy said this with a smile on his face, a happy smile appearing on his face in this situation of willingness to "sacrifice himself": "Please tell Lord Ira the information that will be useful to the world!"

"..."

What kind of logic is this?

The astral body tilted its head in thought, and it was very clear... the boy's logic was that "I (the boy) die," obtain "information," tell Ira, and then Ira can prevent more and more important people from dying.

"You seem to trust Iraq a lot?"

Regarding the question about the astral body, the boy, who was already prepared to die, nodded with great certainty and said, "Yes, because I'm useless. Useless people should believe in useful people, and worthless people should believe in worthless people."

"Then……"

As the boy spoke, he smiled and said to the astral body, "The weak should be considerate of the strong, and the strong should protect the weak... I am very grateful to His Majesty the King and Lord Ira, so I must..."
