Chapter Seven: Isidro is also a genius

"Instructor Yinsidero, you said before that the souls of the deceased did not reincarnate... what is that all about?"

When asked about Yinla's question, Yin Sidero Collins, who was organizing materials to be delivered to the [Kings' Conference], was visibly taken aback... He glanced at Yinla and said, "It means exactly what it says... Yinla, don't you already know?"

I know?

Yinla looked puzzled. He had only learned about the idea that "souls might be captured by monsters within the World Tree" after hearing Yinsidero's speech at the Conference of Kings.

With her doubts lingering, Yinla waited until the meeting ended before coming over to ask about it.

"When I found you and that Sevilla, I had just mentioned it, hadn't I..."

However, Instructor Yin Xidelu said this with an even more confused expression, "So, Sevilla was actually frightened. You said you already knew... what was that all along?"

If I remember correctly, right?

...

Yinla: "..."

Yes, Instructor Insidero was not mistaken, but he clearly treated the information that "the monsters in the World Tree have replaced the gods" and "reincarnation has been interrupted" as the same thing... In fact, Inra only knew the former and knew nothing about the latter.

After a helpless explanation, Yin Xide Luo vaguely understood something...

"It sounds like you, Yinla, have a pretty good relationship with the Chaos in the World Tree."

Clearly, while there are many fools in this world, Professor Isidro Collins is obviously not one of them; he has clearly gleaned the truth from a few words.

Even so, this truth is no secret to Cassiopeia's sister and many others... What? You're asking why I'm mentioning "her sister" separately?

Because there are quite a few idiots in this world, and Cassiopeia is clearly one of them.

However, Yinla did not necessarily want to hide this fact. He responded, "Yes, but Chaos is currently on our side, and... I don't completely trust her either."

Yin Sidero didn't say anything about this fact, but he looked at Yin La seriously, nodded, and said, "Obviously, [Chaos] didn't tell you anything about the reincarnation of souls."

Then, Isidro began to slowly recount his research—

...

First, it's important to understand that... in this world, everyone believes that after death, people go to the World Tree to reincarnate, losing all their memories and being reborn.

This is not something particularly worth questioning.

On one hand, the World Tree itself is indeed qualified to accomplish such a great feat. On the other hand... the existence of the [soul] in this world is already proven, and there is also research on the materialization of the soul.

The best example is the headless horseman made of the souls of warriors... This is the manifestation of the soul.

After death, a warrior's corpse can become a Black Knight, which is the manifestation of the physical body... Similarly, what carries memories is not only the soul, but also the physical body.

In other words, if a warrior's soul and body are equally qualified to exist as both a Black Knight and a Headless Horseman, then when that warrior's body becomes the Royal Black Knight and awakens its memories, there might be two identical people in the world.

For example, if Black's soul had not gone to the World Tree, but instead became the Headless Horseman, then there would be two beings in the world who embody the past Black when he was still alive.

Both of them would consider themselves to be Black... Of course, whether they would reject the other's existence depends on their individual personalities. For example, Black would not care if there were two of him in the world at the same time.

"Transforming Mobiras and the others into liches was one of the most successful transformations I've ever done..."

As he spoke, Insidero showed off his bookshelf... It was densely packed with research books related to the soul, all signed by Insidero Collins.

"And before them, and after them... none of my students (experimental subjects) were able to transform into liches. Perhaps you think... this is because Mobius had extraordinary luck, is that so?"

"Or rather, did I accidentally do something during that ceremony?" asked Isidro Collins, his withered fingers tracing the book cover.

As he asked the question, Isidro Collins pulled a book from the shelf. The cover of the book read "Death God Kaseri." He said, "Will the combat mage class teach the principles of rituals?"

Yinla nodded in agreement...

"Well, that's good... The deities addressed in the rituals vary. Generally speaking, a lich conversion ritual requires temporarily sealing the soul and then transforming the body. During this process, [Kaseli] is usually invoked, right?"

As he said this, Isidro Collins opened the book and said, "But in theory, calling on the Soul God Lauwus would have the same effect... because all we need is to temporarily prevent the soul from going to the World Tree, nothing more."

Yes, that's without a doubt.

"But I failed, I have been failing all along... because I chose to ask Lady Lauwus instead of Death Caesar, and I made the same choice in the experiment with Mobius."
