Chapter 177: You want me to catch an adulterer even though I’m sick?

Lu Zhenzhu lay in bed, tossing and turning for half an hour and couldn't fall asleep.

She didn't know why, but she just couldn't calm down.

He found his phone on the bedside table and played with it for nearly twenty minutes. Then he got up, turned on the bedside lamp and went to the bathroom.

When she came out of the bathroom, she glanced at the sofa inadvertently and frowned slightly.

The air conditioner was on in the room, but it wasn't even April yet, and Taipei was still cold. Gu Huai slept on the sofa without even a blanket covering him.

The room wasn't cold, and since he didn't take his health seriously, she didn't bother to care.

Lu Zhenzhu was about to look away when she realized that something seemed to be wrong with the man.

The sofa in the bedroom was less than two meters long, so he had to retract his legs a little. But now Gu Huai was curled up with his hands on his abdomen, as if he was sick and curled up in a ball.

She thought of his cold fingers and frowned.

After struggling internally for a while, Lu Zhenzhu still walked towards him.

As she got closer, she found that Gu Huai's face was no longer pale, but had turned red. There was a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, his brows were furrowed, and his handsome face showed a look of discomfort that was visibly visible to the naked eye.

I reached out to touch his forehead, it was so hot that my fingers were covered in cold sweat.

Her cheeks were so red that they were almost turning into plateau erythema.

Lu Zhenzhu's expression changed and she touched his arm again.

The man whose fingers were cold before now has arms as hot as fire.

This is a high fever.

Although colds and fevers are common, a very high fever can make people stupid or even die.

Lu Zhenzhu pulled his arm and shook it, "Gu Huai, get up quickly, you have a fever."

The man said nothing, but just held her hand.

Lu Zhenzhu's face was solemn. She tried to pull her hand away but failed. The man held it tightly. He stretched out his other hand and held her arm against his chest with both hands.

She tried hard to pull her hand free but failed, so Lu Zhenzhu had to use her cell phone to call Aunt Zhang. After hanging up, she called 120 for emergency medical services.

When the ambulance arrived, Lu Zhenzhu sat in the ambulance wearing the coat Aunt Zhang gave her.

Gu Huai held her hand tightly, and the doctor didn't pry it open. She only wore one sleeve, and then she simply asked the nurse to help her take it off and put it on directly.

The doctor gave Gu Huai an IV drip.

Lu Zhenzhu contacted Li Tezhu in the middle of the process.

Assistant Li didn't answer the phone, so she could only stay with Gu Huai in the hospital until the next day.

Gu Huai opened his eyes and looked at her half-lying on the hospital bed, using her elbow as a pillow. The half of her face that was exposed was peaceful and beautiful. He touched her head and the door of the ward was carefully pushed open.

Special Assistant Li brought breakfast over and Lu Zhenzhu opened her eyes. When she stood up, her arms were numb and she hung in the air with her face wrinkled in pain.

She hissed.

Gu Huai held her arm and gently massaged it to relieve the numbness.

Lu Zhenzhu narrowed her eyes and looked at Assistant Li. "Why didn't you answer my call last night? How did you know Gu Huai and I were in the hospital?"

She wondered if Gu Huai was deliberately sick in order to act pitiful and gain sympathy?

Lu Zhenzhu turned her head and looked sharply at the man who was rubbing her arms.

Gu Huai remained expressionless, showing no emotion.

Special Assistant Li was a little embarrassed. "Madam, I was busy last night and didn't receive your call. I called you this morning and saw that your phone was turned off, so I called Aunt Zhang. From Aunt Zhang, I learned that you and Mr. Gu were in the hospital."

"Really?" Lu Zhenzhu scrutinized him. "Aren't you the special assistant on call 24 hours a day? You'll always answer Gu Huai's call."

Li Tezhu seemed to be hesitant to speak.

Lu Zhenzhu pulled her arm back and narrowed her eyes unhappily, "You deliberately had a fever to trick me into taking care of you? Gu Huai, have you forgotten that you said you didn't need me to take care of you?"

"I don't."

Gu Huai's voice was hoarse from his illness and sounded a bit weak.

"I've never seen you call Assistant Li and he not answer."

Upon hearing this, Special Assistant Li could only bite the bullet and say, "Madam, I have a girlfriend, and Mr. Gu rarely calls me late at night."

"What does it have to do with whether you answer the phone or not if you have a girlfriend..." Without uttering the word "relationship", Lu Zhenzhu stopped talking abruptly when she saw the expression of Special Assistant Li.

She understood.

She shut her mouth. The ward was unusually silent and clean, and there was also a hint of awkwardness.

It was Gu Huai who broke the awkwardness by holding her hand and said, "Bring breakfast here."

Special Assistant Li put breakfast on the table. Lu Zhenzhu pulled her hand away and stood up. "If he comes, let him take care of me. I'm going back."

She rubbed her neck. It was sore from sleeping on her stomach all night.

Gu Huai grabbed her wrist and said, "Eat first."

"I'll go back and eat." Lu Zhenzhu couldn't break free and glared at him. "You said last night that you were sick and didn't need my care. What are you doing?"

If he hadn't held her tightly last night, she wouldn't have come to the hospital with him, but would have asked Aunt Zhang to come over.

"You don't have to take care of me, but you have to stay with me."

Gu Huai turned his head and coughed twice, "You're going to find another man when I'm not watching you. Do you want me to catch you cheating even though I'm sick?"

Lu Zhenzhu's face turned completely cold. "Is there a difference between accompanying you and taking care of you?"

Gu Huai said indifferently, "Taking care of me is a nurse's job. You just need to stay under my nose to accompany me. I won't care what you do."

"What if I don't?"

Gu Huai didn't say anything, but just held her wrist tightly without loosening his grip.

The two men were in a stalemate, and Assistant Li spoke well of his boss.

"Madam, Mr. Gu got caught in the rain last night for you, so you should accompany him."

"Did I let him get wet in the rain, or did I beg him to come to me?" Lu Zhenzhu retorted, "He barged in and ruined my good thing, and I haven't blamed him yet, but you blame me."

Li Tezhu was speechless and regretted speaking.

He shouldn't talk too much.

Lu Zhenzhu's stomach growled, she sat down with a gloomy face, picked up the spoon and drank the porridge.

Gu Huai loosened his hand, peeled the still warm egg, broke it in the middle, took out the whole yolk, and gave her only the egg white.

Lu Zhenzhu lowered her eyes, feeling a strange feeling in her heart.

She didn't like egg yolks, but Wei Zhao didn't know this at first.

Every time Wei Zhao gave it to her, she ate it, but she ate the egg yolk very slowly. Wei Zhao only noticed it later.

Gu Huai will stay in the hospital for two days.

Two days after being discharged from the hospital, he had a social event and took Lu Zhenzhu with him.

In the private room, Gu Huai did not forget to take care of Lu Zhenzhu while chatting with others, and he picked up all the dishes she liked.

"Mrs. Gu, would you like some wine?" the woman beside her suddenly asked Lu Zhenzhu.

Before she even opened her mouth, Gu Huai had already answered for her.

"She doesn't drink."

The woman was about to take the wine away, but Lu Zhenzhu said, "Who said I don't want to drink? I just want to drink."

The woman was a little surprised and embarrassed to see that she was contradicting Gu Huai. She didn't know whether to give her the wine in her hand or not.

She offended Mr. Gu.

Don't offend Mrs. Gu.

Lu Zhenzhu took the glass from her hand and drank it in front of Gu Huai. She asked the waiter to pour her another glass. As soon as she picked it up, Gu Huai held her hand.

"Stop drinking."
