Chapter 143 Stealing

Granny Wang looked at Du Lian with confusion. "Du Lian, that's not what you told me! You only said you wanted the noodle shop to do better business!"

That's outright theft!

Du Lian moved her lips, then lowered her head and remained silent.

Ye Panjiu smiled and said, "Actually, we're all neighbors. We can deliver our braising liquid to you every day for free. Just ask us. If your business gets better, it will attract more people to this street, which will benefit everyone's business. It's a win-win-win situation."

Granny Wang closed her eyes in anguish, tears streaming down her face, and murmured softly, "I told you so..."

Before Ye Panjiu could say anything, she stood up and bowed to Ye Panjiu, "I'm sorry to the boss. I will never go to Jiujiu Lu again. I'm sorry."

She feels betrayed by Du Lian and her husband, and she is extremely upset.

The employer was betrayed by him; thankfully, he discovered it in time. If he hadn't, the losses would have been immeasurable.

Ye Panjiu helped her up. "Aunt Wang, it's hard to stick to your principles no matter what, but if you want to have a clear conscience, you have to stick to them. Your relationship with Jiujiu Lu can only go this far."

Granny Wang slumped into a chair, tears streaming down her face.

She has lost her future path; where will she earn money to support herself?

She regrets it now; she shouldn't have been so conflicted, she should have persevered.

Ye Panjiu looked at Du Lian, "Hand over the spice packet."

Du Lian raised her head, gritted her teeth, and said, "What spice packet? I have no idea!"

She insisted that she didn't know, so what could this person do to her?

Granny Wang sighed as she looked at her like this.

Tian Chi looked down at the ground, not even glancing at his wife.

Ye Panjiu gave Heng Tong a look.

Heng Tong drew his dagger and cut off both of her sleeves.

Du Lian screamed in terror, "Murder! Murder!"

Ye Panjiu ignored him, bent down to pick up her sleeve, took out her spice packet, and threw it into the charcoal brazier.

The aroma of the braising spices spread as the flames burned.

The room fell completely silent; no one spoke.

Tianchi's heart was pounding like it was being fried in oil, waiting for the final verdict.

Du Lian fell to the ground in fear, hiding from Heng Tong.

The dagger in her hand gleamed, and she cut her sleeve quickly and swiftly. Before she could even react, the sleeve was gone.

Old Mrs. Wang wiped away her tears. "Boss, please have pity on them! They have a six-year-old son!"

Ye Panjiu didn't turn around until the spice packet had completely turned to ashes. "Tian Chi, why do you think the manager of Hongfu Inn would eat noodles at your shop? Can't Hongfu Inn make a bowl of noodles?"

It was like a thunderbolt had struck Tian Chi's mind; it turned out that all of this was a trap set by someone else!

We're just waiting for him to take the bait.

Now things are really messed up; not only is the noodle shop beyond saving, but Aunt Wang has also lost her livelihood.

He even lied to his wife; after many years of marriage, their hearts had drifted apart.

Ye Panjiu looked at Du Lian and said, "If you could say no to Tian Chi as firmly as you did when you said you didn't know, and trust Aunt Wang again, the noodle shop might be able to come back to life."

Du Lian stood there blankly, feeling empty inside; she could hear the whistling of a gust of wind.

Ye Panjiu ignored them and walked out of the house.

As for the manager of Hongfu Inn, she prefers to use such underhanded tactics instead of competing fairly based on taste; she'd like to go and see for herself.

These three people are pitiful yet their fates are uncertain; their lives will only get harder and harder.

She doesn't have to do anything; she's already suffering enough.

She is kind-hearted, but even though no one wants to hurt her, she still wants to help others.

That means she's foolishly kind and can't see things clearly.

We're all adults; shouldn't we all bear the consequences of our choices?

After Ye Panjiu left, Granny Wang watched her retreating figure and cried even harder.

Seeing her crying, Du Lian comforted her, "Alright, Aunt Wang, your good fortune is yet to come. So what if you lost a job? It's good that you don't have to work anymore."

Granny Wang pointed angrily at the door, "Get out of my house! Don't ever come to my house again! I've paid back everything I owe you!"

Upon hearing this, Du Lian's face turned cold, and she turned to leave, cursing as she did so, "Fine, I won't go then! Years of friendship, you can just throw it away! Who cares!"

Tian Chi stood up and quickly ran past his wife.

He should stay away from home for the next few days to avoid getting upset.

Hongfu Inn was not doing well in Shuzhou. It was almost dinner time, but there was only one table occupied.

The waiters gathered together chatting, since they had nothing else to do.

When Ye Panjiu and Heng Tong came in, the others ignored them.

Ye Panjiu raised an eyebrow, "Is your manager here?"

One of the men then looked at her and said, "Come with me."

Go through the small door on the side to the back, and you'll find the innkeeper's room.

The waiter called out two or three times, but no one answered.

Ye Panjiu smiled and pushed the door open.

A woman inside the room screamed and pulled the blanket over herself.

The shopkeeper, still dressed and with his back to the door, spoke with an annoyed expression, "Didn't I tell you not to bother me unless it's absolutely necessary! Get out!"

He then tried to crawl back into bed.

Ye Panjiu spoke casually, "Manager Han has quite the leisure time."

Han Cong frowned and turned around. "Who are you?"

"Owner of Jiujiu Braised Food, come and hear what explanation Manager Han has for me. Qian Zixuan from the Qian family is still in jail." She said lightly as she sat down on the stool.

Han Cong was over forty years old, but due to long-term indulgence, his face was pale and his eyes were dark.

He smiled obsequiously, poured tea for Ye Panjiu, and waved his hand, "You all get out!"

The man turned and ran away.

The woman in the blanket didn't move. He turned around and kicked the blanket, yelling, "You get out too!"

The woman gave a coquettish laugh, threw off the covers and pulled on her clothes, muttering, "Sir, you haven't paid me yet!"

Han Cong gave Ye Panjiu an awkward smile, "Go ahead and ask them to help you."

The woman then swayed her hips and walked away.

Han Cong bowed deeply to Ye Panjiu, saying, "Please don't be offended, Master. It's all a misunderstanding."

Ye Panjiu remained silent, neither drinking her tea nor speaking, simply watching him and waiting for him to continue.

"Hey, I just mentioned wanting your spice packet, and Tian Chi actually took it seriously. I'm a business owner too, how could I not know how important that spice packet is to my boss!"

Ye Panjiu smiled but remained silent.

Han Cong was somewhat annoyed. "What does the master mean by this? He comes to our door without saying a word?"

Ye Panjiu raised her hand, and Han Cong dodged backward.

He saw her beat up that thug that day.

That slap was so swift and decisive, so loud that it hurt him just hearing it.

Ye Panjiu looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Han Cong smiled and said, "I had the pleasure of witnessing my master's slap the other day, and I unconsciously stepped back."

Ye Panjiu smiled and said, "Don't be nervous. I'm just telling the shopkeeper that Tian Chi did indeed get the spice packet from my shop."

He also said that the shopkeeper had told him whoever got the spice packet would receive two hundred taels of silver; the shopkeeper was a blatant thief.
