Chapter 159 Attacking the Body is Paramount

Ye Erniu accompanied Ye Daniu to the horse farm.

She didn't want to go to the shop in Qingshui County with Ye Guihua, nor did she want to go to the horse farm or the fields.

He spends all his time at home with Wang Jiao, and he's incredibly anxious.

But after three days, I couldn't stand it anymore.

"When you're busy, you think about having free time, but when you finally have some free time, you get so anxious!"

Mrs. Sun slammed down on the stool, "I was so anxious that I got blisters on my lips!"

Ye Panjiu's lips twitched, and she put down the pen in her hand.

She, however, found herself with a rare moment of leisure, practicing calligraphy and reading books.

"Second sister-in-law, why are you in such a hurry?"

Madam Sun sighed, "The county examination is on the second day of the second lunar month. The last time I saw Ming'er was a month ago. I wonder how Ming'er is preparing, and how he's doing at the academy. It's worrying!"

Ye Panjiu patted her shoulder, "Since you're so worried, why don't you go to the academy to see Ming'er?"

Mrs. Sun shook her head, "No, it will delay his studies. What if he fails the exam?"

Ye Panjiu fell silent. She always felt that if it was a teacher like Headmaster Bai who had produced both top scholars in literature and martial arts, it was unlikely that he would fail the first hurdle of the county examination tomorrow.

There are not many people in Qingshui County, and there are many villages around it, and even fewer scholars.

They had everything going for them – perfect timing, perfect location, and perfect people.

Besides, it's only the fifteenth tomorrow. If you don't pass the exam this year, you can just take it again next year.

Having an extra year of study and a more solid foundation is a good thing.

Of course, I couldn't tell my second sister-in-law this; she really couldn't wait.

All she could say was, "We haven't visited Miss Guan since we got back. Shall we go to the academy instead?"

I'm counting down the days; I'll be giving birth soon.

Sun's eyes lit up. "That makes sense. I miss Miss Guan so much. I wonder if she's gained any weight. She's so thin."

Ye Panjiu nodded and walked outside.

Sun was terribly afraid of heights and couldn't learn to ride a horse. She was shorter than Ye Panjiu and sat in front of Ye Panjiu.

Ye Panjiu took her on horseback.

Sometimes she felt like her second sister-in-law.

Heng Tong rode alongside the two men.

Before long, the three of them arrived at the foot of Bailu Academy Mountain.

After dismounting, Madam Sun took Ye Panjiu's arm and said, "Little sister, after we see Miss Guan, how about we poke a hole in the window paper outside the house in the courtyard, like peach blossoms?"

Ye Panjiu glanced at her, "How much time will it take? You still have clothes for Ming'er on you, don't worry about it."

This is what parents are like; they are always conflicted and afraid when it comes to their children.

When the Ye family was going to Shuzhou before the New Year, they sent Guan Muning to Bailu Academy and entrusted him to the care of Doctor Gu.

There are plenty of empty rooms at Bailu Academy, so there's no shortage of extra people for meals.

Doctor Gu, with his compassionate heart, would not abandon Guan Mu Ning, this unfortunate woman.

The three of them walked to a secluded house.

This house is right next to the house of Dr. Gu.

The sound of reading aloud came from inside the room.

It was Guan Muning's voice.

Ye Panjiu raised an eyebrow and knocked on the door.

Who is it?

“Miss Guan, it’s Pan Jiu. I’ve come to see you.”

Guan Muning's voice was clearly excited, "Sister Pan Jiu, come in quickly!"

Ye Panjiu pushed open the door and entered, and saw Guan Muning leaning against the headboard with a book on the quilt.

She's gained some weight, and her eyes have become much gentler.

"How have you been lately?"

Guan Muning reached out and excitedly grasped Ye Panjiu and Madam Sun's hands, "Great, great! I've missed you so much!"

She laughed and said, "You've all become even more beautiful in just one month."

Madam Sun squeezed her hand. "Why has Miss Guan's mouth become so sweet? Is it because you're reading all day?"

Guan Muning picked up the book. "Sister Sun, you don't know, I had nothing to do all day when I first came up the mountain, and I was so annoyed."

As a result, Doctor Gu brought in a tutor who would spend half an hour each day teaching me to read and write, and also assigning me homework. Only then did the days seem to pass a little faster.

Sun praised him, saying, "Amazing! My brain can't learn to read, but I'll come to you when I need to read in the future."

Miss Guan smiled and said, "No problem, leave it to me."

Ye Panjiu then asked carefully, "Did Doctor Gu say when?"

"They said it would be in the next few days." Guan Muning chuckled slightly as she mentioned this.

Ye Panjiu felt sorry for her and patted her head, "Don't be afraid. After you get out, you can go back to the Ye family."

She wanted to protect Guan Muning.

Guan Muning waved her hand, "No, I haven't forgotten my good family yet. I now think that strategy is worse than martial arts; attacking the body is inferior to attacking the mind."

"Tsk tsk tsk, look at how literate people speak, it's so different from what I say." Mrs. Sun pinched her cheek.

"Thinking so much is pointless; your happiness is what truly matters."

The three of them stayed with Guan Muning for a while, telling her about some of the things that had happened in Shuzhou.

As the sun began to set, Ye Panjiu and the other two prepared to leave.

Guan Muning was reluctant to let go of their hands, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Take care on your journey."

Ye Panjiu couldn't bear it. "Don't be sad. We've been here for you all this time. I'll try my best to come and keep you company every day."

She didn't want Guan Muning to be all alone when she was about to give birth.

Guan Muning then smiled, the tears in her eyes receding. "I took it seriously, you can't lie to me."

Ye Panjiu laughed, "When have I ever lied to you? Take a good rest and don't overdo it with reading."

Guan Muning withdrew her hand and obediently watched the three of them leave.

My heart felt like it was soaking in a hot spring, warm and comforting.

In her heart, the Ye family were her true relatives, and it felt wonderful to be cared for and cherished.

After leaving the house, Mrs. Sun felt very uncomfortable.

"What a tragedy, such a beautiful girl, why does she have to suffer so much?"

Ye Panjiu patted her hand and walked towards Doctor Gu's room.

She was still worried and needed to hear what Doctor Gu had to say.

Doctor Gu was writing something furiously.

Behind him was a whole wall of Chinese medicine cabinets, and the whole room was filled with the strong smell of medicine.

"I hope Doctor Gu is doing well," Ye Panjiu said softly.

Doctor Gu put down his pen, looked up and saw her, then smiled, "So it's Miss Ye."

Ye Panjiu bowed to him, "Doctor Gu, I've come to inquire about Miss Guan's health."

"There are no problems now. The baby is in the correct position, and Miss Guan is not too fat. She walks around every day, and the subsequent care is appropriate."

Ye Panjiu felt a little relieved and continued to ask, "I wonder who will be delivering Miss Guan's baby?"

Doctor Gu smiled and said, "I had already hired a highly reputable midwife from a local family, just in case she had overexerted herself and there were any complications during childbirth."

Ye Panjiu bowed to him again, "I'm really troubling you, Doctor Gu. If I'm not at the academy when the attack starts, please be sure to send someone to call me."

She wanted to be with Miss Guan, because childbirth is a life-threatening experience for women.

Ms. Guan was covered in injuries for the first four months; this child is truly resilient.

“Alright, I see that Miss Ye looks better. Why don’t you take her pulse as well?” Doctor Gu raised his hand to look at her.

Ye Panjiu did not refuse, and sat down as instructed, raising her sleeve for him to take her pulse.
