Chapter 24 Stay Home and Behave Well

Ye Daniu also stepped outside; he hadn't yet delivered the last batch of charcoal.

Ye Panjiu followed him. She had to tell Manager Qin, and she was also really curious to see this Wang family girl.

Madam Sun quickly stood up and followed her, "Brother, are you going to town to deliver charcoal? I'll go too! I'll go too!"

Old Mrs. Ye pulled her back, "The oxcart is busy hauling coal, there's no room for you! Stay home and behave yourself!"

Sun blinked her eyes at Ye Panjiu.

Ye Panjiu looked at the old ox, who had clearly lost weight from overwork, and silently turned her head away.

Let's buy an oxcart while we're at it.

Ye Santian drove the oxcart, skillfully parking it at the back gate of Laifu Inn.

Ye Daniu walked into Laifu Inn with great familiarity, and soon after, Manager Qin followed him over.

"It's been a long time. How have you been, Madam Ye?"

“Indeed, I see there are many more guests at Laifu Inn.” Ye Panjiu replied with a smile.

"I don't know why, but there are definitely more people here." Manager Qin stroked his mustache, a smile playing on his lips.

People are in high spirits when they have good news, and business people love to see their business doing well.

"Congratulations, Manager Qin. Today is the last time we will deliver charcoal to you."

Manager Qin paused, "Why is that?"

"To be honest, my stall business has been pretty good lately, so I'm hoping my family can lend me a hand. I'll have to stop burning charcoal." Ye Panjiu was completely honest.

She believes that sincerity is the most important thing in getting along with people, so that others will be more likely to think of her if there are any potential opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Avoid lying if you can avoid it.

"What does Madam Ye sell at her stall?" Shopkeeper Qin asked with some curiosity.

"Braised foods, such as braised intestines, braised eggs, braised vegetables, and wood ear mushrooms."

Manager Qin was stunned. "So this was made by you! Someone at the inn bought it before, and I tried it and thought it was delicious, so I've been sending people to buy it from the street every now and then!"

Ye Panjiu smiled, "I'm glad it suits your taste. Next time Manager Qin sends someone to buy it, I'll give you a 20% discount if I mention your name."

"Oh my, very good! I really didn't expect this. This is truly remarkable. Now we should call you Manager Ye. I wonder if Manager Ye would be interested in making a business out of this charcoal-making method?" Manager Qin's eyes flickered.

"Manager Qin is going to pay me for my charcoal-making method?" Ye Panjiu understood quickly.

Manager Qin nodded and held up three fingers.

There are specialized charcoal sellers in Qingshui County, but they are expensive, more so than those who buy charcoal from individual vendors. The town is an hour away from the county, and the cost of transporting the charcoal is not low.

If he can acquire this method, Laifu Inn can then teach it to individual charcoal burners, resulting in better charcoal production—a win-win situation.

Ye Panjiu held out a hand, "Three taels is too little, five taels is fine."

She knew that Manager Qin could use this charcoal-making method to make more money, but she didn't have time to do so.

They don't earn as much as they do from setting up a street stall.

Shopkeeper Qin smiled and nodded, "Deal."

Ye Panjiu called out to Ye Daniu, who was weighing charcoal, "Brother, after we finish weighing, can you teach Manager Qin how to burn charcoal? I'm going to buy some things now."

Ye Daniu nodded; he would listen to his younger sister.

"Then, Manager Qin, I'll be going now." Ye Panjiu prepared to walk towards the oxcart.

"Madam Ye, wait a moment." Manager Qin said as he walked into the house.

A moment later, he came out carrying a box of pastries. "These are pastries from Jiangnan. My friend brought them. Shopkeeper Ye, take a box home and try them."

Ye Panjiu accepted it with a smile; she was happy to receive something delicious.

"Thank you, Manager Qin. Let's do business together again next time."

He then returned to the oxcart.

Ye Santian didn't even need to ask; he simply pulled her towards the meat stall.

This time, she was quite lucky; she spotted a pretty young woman standing at the meat stall right away.

Chopping meat and bones, the work is done cleanly and efficiently.

He speaks to customers who buy meat with a natural and generous manner, straightforward and forthright.

So that's what Lei'er likes.

She likes it quite a bit too.

Ye Panjiu stepped forward and asked, "Miss, why haven't I seen Uncle Wang today?"

Wang Jiaojiao replied with a smile, "My father has to go out for a while, I'll cover for him. What would you like, my wife?"

Ye Panjiu pointed to the wooden bucket, "I'll take the intestines too, but this isn't enough. I want twice the amount. Do you have any more?"

Wang Jiao shook her head. "The ones from this morning were all sold out. Why don't you look at something else, my lady?"

Her family's meat is the freshest, and her father charges low prices; the pigs slaughtered in the morning will never be left over until the afternoon.

Ye Panjiu looked at the meat on the meat stall. She made braised meat, so the meat had to be fresh. She only had one set of intestines, but adding some pig ears and pig head meat would be nice.

Some people who can't stand the smell of water will also buy these to eat.

"Then take all the pig's head meat and two pig ears, this pig's tail, a piece of pork belly with alternating layers of fat and lean meat, and three spare ribs." Ye Panjiu pointed from the left side of the meat stall to the right.

She gets happy just thinking about peanut and pig tail stew, stir-fried pork with chili peppers, and braised pork ribs.

Wang Jiao earnestly advised, "You've bought too much. This meat doesn't keep well, and it'll be a waste if it spoils. My wife, you should buy more when you want to eat it, so it'll be fresher."

Ye Panjiu smiled broadly. This girl was kind-hearted; the more she looked at her, the more satisfied she became.

"Don't worry, young lady, I'm buying meat to sell at a stall, so it won't go to waste."

"So you're from the Ye family! My dad told me you buy a lot of meat from my house, and I'll make sure to sell it to you at a low price. I'll give my wife a discount." Wang Jiao smiled brightly, her hands deftly chopping the meat. She wielded the kitchen knife skillfully and with considerable strength, no less than her father, Butcher Wang.

"Then thank you very much, Miss Wang." Ye Panjiu was very happy.

If Miss Wang were to become her niece-in-law in the future, that would be wonderful; she liked the girl.

Wang Jiao was infected by Ye Panjiu's smile. After saying the meat was good, she cut another piece and put it in the oil paper.

"Wife, where should I put your meat? Let me get it for you."

Ye Panjiu shook her head. "It's okay, can we leave it here for now? I'll wait for my older brother to come and get it."

Upon hearing this, Wang Jiao washed her hands and immediately took a stool from the stall. "Please sit down, my lady."

"Thank you." Ye Panjiu gathered her skirt and sat down calmly.

"What does Miss Wang usually like to do?"

Wang Jiao recounted, "I slaughter pigs and sell meat with my father every day; we don't have much free time otherwise."

"You shrew, cut me a piece of good pork!" a skinny man said in a sleazy tone.

Ye Panjiu looked at Wang Jiao.

Wang Jiao ignored her and continued, "I really enjoy cooking delicious meals every day and going for walks with my friends at the temples in the mountains."

The man raised his voice and shouted, "I'm talking to you! Are you pretending to be deaf?"

Wang Jiao grew impatient, stood up, pulled out a kitchen knife, and pointed it at the man, saying, "Get out! I don't want to sell meat for you!"

The man was so frightened that he took a step back, and tried to say something more.
