Chapter 29 The Perfect Marriage

Before the oxcart had come to a complete stop, Ye Erniu jumped off and, together with the ox seller, loaded the cart onto the black ox.

Then they tied a rein to the black ox.

The new oxcart creaked and groaned as it moved forward.

It's smooth and steady, without any wobbling.

Ye Erniu stroked the black ox's head, his smile stretching almost to his ears.

After taking him for a walk around the house, Ye Erniu announced in a serious tone, "I hereby declare that Xiao Hei is a new member of our Ye family!"

Grandma Ye glared at him, but then happily patted the black ox.

In the village, owning a cow was a sign of an extremely distinguished family.

The Ye family is quite powerful now.

"I'm going back with Xiao Hei." Although Old Lady Ye's body was a little hunched, she climbed onto the new oxcart with great agility.

"Me too!" The remaining three people climbed onto the new oxcart in unison.

Ye Santian looked at the group of people and shook his head.

Why do the old and the young all act like children?

“Then you can take the oxcart back, and I’ll take these tables and chairs back.”

"Thank you for your hard work, Santian. You go ahead, and I'll follow behind you." Ye Erniu sat in the front seat, reluctant to pull the reins too hard.

After returning to the Ye family home, everyone got out of the car.

Ye Erniu patted Ye Santian on the shoulder.

“The old ox works too hard every day, making several trips. Let it rest. I’m going to town to pick up my wife and the others.”

After saying that, he pulled the new oxcart away again.

Looking at her second brother's back, Ye Panjiu could see the overflowing joy on his face, and a smile involuntarily appeared on her lips.

She increasingly felt that the Ye family was her own home.

Every relative is her own relative.

Warm and happy.

Accompanying the six members of the Sun family to the Ye family was Matchmaker Li.

Before Sun could even take another look at her new oxcart, she rushed over to Matchmaker Li, asking, "Grandma Li, how is it? How is it?"

"Look how anxious you are," Butcher Wang said, quite surprised. "No wonder there are so many people from your Ye family buying meat lately. Look at you all." Matchmaker Li pointed at them one by one.

"Stop rambling, and then what?" Madam Sun pressed her hand down.

Then Butcher Wang laughed and said, "Your Lei'er, the young man seems quite good!"

Mrs. Sun's face froze. "Huh? Doesn't he mind marrying his daughter into the village?"

This was not what she expected.

Matchmaker Li's smile faltered for a moment. "Butcher Wang didn't mention this, and the two houses aren't that far apart."

Ye Panjiu glanced at Madam Sun, "Grandma Li, what did Wang Jiao say?"

"Jiaojiao said she listens to her father."

Ye Lei became anxious upon hearing this, "Does she mean yes or no?"

Grandma Ye sighed, "My dear grandson, how can he be so dense?"

Ye Panjiu wrote down Ye Lei's birth date and time and prepared to hand it to Matchmaker Li.

Sun grabbed her hand. "Little sister, shouldn't we discuss this matter again?"

"If both parties are interested, and you, Wang Jiao, also think it's a good idea, what else is there to discuss?"

Mrs. Sun gritted her teeth and said, "No, I still can't stand having a daughter-in-law who runs off to her own home all the time after the wedding, and then she doesn't care about all the chores at home?"

Ye Lei stood up straight. "Mom, if there's any work, I'll do it."

Sun glared at him, "So we pay the dowry just to bring home a goddess to worship? She eats and drinks at home, and then works for her father? Does that mean I'm not her mother anymore after we're married? Even if she goes to work, she still has to pay for it!"

Ye Panjiu looked at Sun Shi disapprovingly, "Second sister-in-law, you can't just become a mother-in-law now and forget about your own life before you got married. Didn't you want to visit your parents' home more often before you got married?"

Sun moved her lips, but no words came out.

She looked at Old Madam Ye, "Mother, what do you think?"

Grandma Ye pointed at Ye Lei, "Lei'er got married, and he's happy to support his wife. That's their business. I only have one request: I want to hold my great-grandson. My granddaughter-in-law can go out and about, but if she gets pregnant, there can't be any mishaps."

Ye Lei stiffened his neck and looked at Sun Shi, "Mother, as for the bride price, just deduct it from my wages, you don't need to add anything."

Ye Panjiu tugged at Ye Lei's sleeve, "What are you saying? It's not like your mother is unwilling to pay the bride price. Second sister-in-law, you're looking for a daughter-in-law just so she can help you with chores at home? If that's what your mother thinks, wouldn't you feel uncomfortable? You're getting married, not marrying into someone else's family to be a servant. Are you confused?!"

Sun looked at Ye Panjiu, then turned to look at Ye Erniu.

Ye Erniu patted her shoulder and said, "Little sister is right. When I married you, I never thought about making you do any work. I just wanted to live a good life with you and let you live a good life."

“The Ye family has been poor and destitute all these years, and you have suffered. I have always felt guilty towards you.”

So when Mrs. Sun lost her temper with him, he always gave in to her and basically listened to her.

Sun's eyes reddened, and she pinched Ye Erniu, "With so many people around, aren't you ashamed? If Lei'er wants to marry, then we'll marry him."

She handed the birth date and time to the matchmaker, Li.

Matchmaker Li patted her hand, "There's no such thing as a perfect marriage. Jiaojiao is a filial daughter. She's so respectful to her father that she won't owe you two too much. Besides, Jiaojiao is definitely capable of handling things, even big things. These are rare and good qualities. Focus on her good points."

The Ye family members all nodded in agreement.

"You see things so clearly. Let's quickly match their birth dates and times. Once they match, I'll start preparing the betrothal gifts immediately." After accepting this suggestion, Madam Sun became anxious again.

"Don't rush me, don't hurt my old bones," Granny Li muttered as she slowly strolled out of the Ye family's house.

Sun clapped her hands, exclaiming, "This mother-in-law is really infuriating!"

Ye Lei, on the other hand, had a silly grin on his face. He would bump into a hoe while walking, and then bump his head when he entered the house without bending down.

Ye Panjiu shook her head as she watched.

How come her nephew, just like the original owner of this body, has the potential to be love-struck?

After lunch, everyone in the Ye family except Ye Ming, who was studying at Bailu Academy, boarded the oxcart and headed to the county.

The price of cloth in the town is much higher than in the county, and there are fewer styles of cloth available in the town.

Two oxcarts stopped at the county gate, and Ye Santian stood guard.

"Mom, what's that? It looks delicious." Ye Taohua, arm in arm with Ye Panjiu, pointed to a stall with a smile.

"Then let's buy them and try them out." As soon as Ye Panjiu finished speaking, all ten members of the Ye family appeared neatly in front of the stall.

The stall owner was startled, his hand holding the wooden shovel paused for a moment, "So many people."

After realizing what was happening, he introduced it as, "These four-color crispy candies are so sweet they'll warm your heart. You won't regret eating them, and you'll regret not eating them for the rest of your life."

"Ten of them, how much?" Ye Taohua took out her small purse.

The others remained silent, exchanging glances before continuing to look at Ye Taohua.

"Only one penny per piece, that's cheap!"

Ye Taohua took out ten copper coins and handed them to the stall owner, saying, "Here you go."

She turned around with the candy in her hand and gave one to everyone.
