Chapter 31 Who's it for?

The waiter's hands trembled with excitement as he wrapped the cloth.

This is a huge order; he could earn much more from it than he does in a month.

"Thank you, sir! Thank you, sir!" she kept saying.

Ye Panjiu was also infected by the joy.

As she left the cloth shop, Mrs. Sun was still somewhat reluctant to leave.

"These fabrics are really beautiful."

"You guys are finally out! I was so worried!" Ye Erniu's voice broke in.

"Father and elder brother, where is Lei'er?" Ye Panjiu asked.

"They couldn't wait any longer, so they went out to stroll around the streets. The oxcart will return later."

Ye Erniu sighed, "It's tough on me. It took so long just to buy some cloth?"

Sun threw the cloth she was holding into his arms, saying, "Now you're complaining about the long wait, but when you put on your new clothes, I saw you grinning from ear to ear!"

Ye Erniu immediately laughed, "My wife is right, not long, not long!"

He wanted to take all the cloth, but he couldn't.

Even the two shop assistants from this fabric store helped carry the fabric from behind.

"Then let's put the cloth on the oxcart first," Ye Panjiu said. Old Mrs. Ye nodded and started walking towards the county gate.

When the group reached the county gate, they could see three people already standing beside the oxcart.

Madam Sun smiled and said, "My elder brother and the others are so quick; they're all back already."

"I told you you guys took too long to buy the fabric..." Ye Erniu muttered under his breath.

"Gagaga—"

"Chirp chirp chirp—"

"Hmph hmph hmph—"

As she approached, she heard these sounds and looked in surprise at the group of animals on the oxcart.

Ducklings, chicks, and even two piglets.

Ye Taohua put her favorite light pink cloth on the oxcart and ran to the ducklings, carefully picking one up.

"Giggle, you're so cute!"

Ye Guihua quickly joined the fray, picking up a small, yellow-feathered chick.

It's furry.

“Girl, how about we come back to buy some next time? The oxcart can’t hold them all.” Old Man Ye looked at Ye Panjiu.

"Okay, what made you decide to buy these animals?"

"It just happened suddenly. Your older brother has been telling me about it for a long time, but he's been so busy. I just bought a bunch of things when I saw them today."

Ye Daniu scratched his head sheepishly.

He likes to keep animals.

"That's great, raising these animals will even produce eggs for us to eat." Ye Panjiu smiled and then looked at Ye Taohua.

"So you're going to sit over there?"

Ye Taohua nodded, her eyes filled with these furry animal cubs.

Ye Panjiu then got into the oxcart on her own.

Sun patted her shoulder, "Children are all like this. Once they have someone else, they forget about their mother."

Ye Lei fell silent.

Ever since he told his mother about the debt of bride price, she has been taking every opportunity to make sarcastic remarks about it.

She doesn't like talking to him.

I'm mentally exhausted.

Ye Panjiu glanced at her, "Aren't you the same?"

Sun choked for a moment, "Of course I'm different, you can ask my mother if you don't believe me."

Grandma Ye said slowly, "Oh dear, you still have the nerve to ask your mother? Your mother said that you are the kind of person who forgets his mother when he has candy. When you were little, if someone gave you a piece of candy, you would follow that person for a long time. She would call you from behind, but you wouldn't even turn your head."

Sun's face turned bright red. "Why does my mother tell everyone everything?"

Ye Panjiu smiled and shook her head.

She didn't think much of it; children always have their own preferences, as long as they aren't kidnapped.

Back at the Ye family home, twenty bolts of fine cloth were piled up on the table, forming a small mountain.

Mrs. Sun walked back and forth around the table, exclaiming, "This is incredible!"

Ye Panjiu placed the two bolts of cloth, one in crimson and the other in smoky purple, next to Old Madam Ye. "Mother, I bought these two bolts for you."

Grandma Ye slapped her arm, "I thought you bought these for yourself. Your mother is sixty years old, how could she need so many clothes!"

What a spendthrift daughter!

“Why can’t you wear them? I think these two pieces would look great on you, Mother,” Ye Panjiu said with a smile.

Before Old Lady Ye could continue muttering, she turned around, picked up the sapphire blue cloth, and handed it to Ye Daniu, saying, "Brother, this is for you."

Ye Daniu shook his head, "Your sister-in-law has chosen enough, let's keep the younger sister."

Old Man Ye tapped his pipe, unable to stand it any longer, and said, "Who the hell are you going to give this color to? Take it!"

Ye Panjiu nodded in agreement.

It would be too old-fashioned for her to wear this color as a ruqun (a type of traditional Chinese dress).

Ye Daniu had no choice but to accept it, feeling a warm glow inside.

This fabric was bought for him by his younger sister!

Ye Erniu watched with great envy, gazing longingly at Ye Panjiu.

"This is my second brother's." Ye Panjiu gave him the jujube-brown horse.

The eldest brother is fairer than the second brother, and the jujube brown color suits the second brother better.

Ye Erniu hugged the cloth tightly with excitement, "Little sister, you've gone to so much trouble! Second brother really likes this cloth!"

Mrs. Sun was also a little embarrassed. "My younger sister paid for all the fabric today. From now on, we'll buy it ourselves. We can't let her spend so much money anymore."

Ye Daniu looked at Liu Shi, who shook her head.

"I can't beat my little sister..."

Ye Erniu wanted Sun to pay up the money quickly.

Ye Panjiu didn't like pushing and shoving. "Alright, I have the most cloth of my own. I'll have to trouble my mother, sisters-in-law and second sisters-in-law to make my clothes. I'm really not good at needlework."

“Okay, tell your sister-in-law what style you like, little sister,” Liu replied quickly.

“Don’t let your sister-in-law’s appearance fool you, my needlework is the best in Sunjia Village!” Sun Shi stood in front of Ye Panjiu and proudly patted her chest.
