"I, I, I really want to take a knife and kill that beast!" Sun finally couldn't help but burst into a tirade.
"His mother gave birth to such a beast; she should have just thrown him into the river to freeze to death!"
Ye Panjiu didn't stop her. Anyway, they weren't at someone else's house anymore, so she could scold her as much as she wanted.
After cursing for a while, Madam Sun finally calmed down. "Little sister, how do you deal with this beast? What do you need me to do? I'm always ready to help!"
She now only regrets that she doesn't have the agility to scale walls and leap across rooftops, otherwise she would definitely go and rid the people of this scourge.
Ye Panjiu smiled and said, "Okay, I won't let him jump around for too long."
It was a seemingly casual remark, yet Sun felt an immense killing intent emanating from it.
"Little sister, you're a bit scary, like an assassin who kills someone from a thousand miles away and then disappears without a trace."
Ye Panjiu was a little surprised. "It's rare for Second Sister-in-law to say such a long sentence."
Sun's face finally brightened. "I've always thought that assassins like that are really cool, so I remembered that one sentence."
Ye Panjiu patted her hand, both amused and exasperated.
Life goes on, and Jiujiu Lu's shop remains open as usual.
Looking at the Fragrance Shop diagonally opposite, Mrs. Sun found it extremely offensive.
"Something terrible has happened! Someone's been killed in the market!"
"Hey, come on, come on! This is a rare sight, let's go see!"
"If you miss it once, you might not see it again next time!"
In the blink of an eye, most of the people queuing in front of the shop had left.
Young children were shouting everywhere, "Kill the corrupt officials! Kill the corrupt officials!"
Ye Panjiu looked at the child with a heavy gaze, feeling a pang of sorrow in her heart.
Sun didn't care about any of that. She put down her soup spoon and was about to rush out, shouting, "Let's go, let's go see! These corrupt officials deserve to die!"
She pulled Ye Panjiu along, but Ye Panjiu shook her head. "I won't go. You can go if you want."
Ye Erniu went along too.
Ye Daniu and Liu Shi were both in the shop keeping watch.
Many customers who had waited in line for a long time to get their hands on the braised food asked for it to be packed in an oilcloth and rushed out with it.
Ye Panjiu looked at Liu Shi curiously, "Sister-in-law, why don't you go and see?"
Liu smiled shyly and shook her head, "What's there to see?"
Ye Daniu chimed in, "When it comes to killing corrupt officials, once one is killed, it's hard to avoid the next one being killed."
Looking at her elder brother and sister-in-law, Ye Panjiu felt that the silent couple had rather profound thoughts.
She shook her head, smiled, and continued to serve the remaining people braised food, giving each person a larger portion.
Within half an hour, several lives had been lost in the market, and Sun and Ye Erniu returned.
"Little sister, things have changed drastically in Qingshui County! Do you know whose head was chopped off this time?"
Ye Panjiu glared at her, then looked directly at Ye Erniu, "Second Brother, tell me quickly."
Ye Erniu spoke bluntly, "The county magistrate! And his entire family!"
Ye Panjiu frowned. "They didn't say what the reason was?"
Sun covered Ye Erniu's mouth with her hand, "I know this. They say it's about stealing gold mines, but what do gold mines look like? I've never even seen one."
Ye Panjiu's hand paused.
"If you ask me, the women in the magistrate's family are really pitiful. They say they're being exiled further north, but it's already November, and they'll freeze to death on the way. They've been stripped down to just their thin undergarments," Madam Sun lamented.
Ye Panjiu said calmly, "They indulged in luxury in the magistrate's backyard, but when disaster struck, they couldn't escape it. Second sister-in-law, do you know when their exile will begin?"
"I think I heard that they will be leaving tonight, and the afternoon is reserved for them to say goodbye to their families."
Ye Panjiu looked at the bustling Xiangxiangfang and asked, "Do you think Manager Zhou will go to see his eldest daughter, who is no longer of any use to him?"
Sun looked disgusted. If it weren't for Ye Panjiu being there, she would have spat at him. "He wouldn't. He would only think that his eldest daughter is a disgrace and wish she were dead on the road so that she wouldn't be a hindrance to him while she's alive."
Ye Panjiu patted her shoulder, "Then let's go see this poor man."
Madam Sun rolled her eyes. "I don't want to go. I still remember that she was the one who whispered in the magistrate's ear. I don't know how many people she has harmed with his father's help."
Liu looked at Ye Panjiu and said, "Little sister, I'll go with you. Let's take more grain with us so that the cheap grain won't be stolen."
Ye Panjiu nodded.
The eldest sister-in-law is kind-hearted, and the second sister-in-law is more clear about her likes and dislikes; both are good.
The two quickly walked out of the shop and bought a lot of dry food, mostly biscuits and the like that keep well.
Ye Panjiu also bought some thick ready-made clothes, all in a uniform grayish color that was not eye-catching.
The two rushed to the county government office, where the county magistrate was staying. The female members of the magistrate's family stood together, trembling all over.
Three soldiers with knives stood guard nearby.
Apart from them, no one else came to see these women who were about to be exiled.
The youngest of them, a girl even younger than Ling'er, clung to her mother's clothes with blank stares, her face red from the cold. "Mother, I'm hungry..."
The only response she received was her mother's tears.
Everyone is crying.
Ye Panjiu and Madam Liu exchanged a glance and both sighed.
The two men approached the soldier, but before they could explain their purpose, the soldier waved them away, saying, "Go quickly, make this a short story."
Another soldier, watching the two men's retreating figures, remarked with a sigh, "There are actually people who came to see them."
An experienced soldier sneered, "I reckon there's only one left. I've never seen one before."
Ye Panjiu felt a chill run down her spine. She didn't know the eldest daughter of the Zhou family at all, yet she had come to see her.
She said to the nearest woman, "I'm looking for the eldest daughter of the Zhou family."
"Zhou Xiufen!" the woman called out to those behind her, her eyes filled with envy.
A woman so thin she looked like she'd collapse in a gust of wind walked over, pointing to herself with her fingers red from the cold, "You were looking for me?"
Ye Panjiu nodded. "You're the daughter of Manager Zhou from Xiangweifang, right?"
Zhou Xiufen nodded.
"Your father didn't come to see you?"
Zhou Xiufen didn't speak, but shook her head and said with certainty, "He won't come."
Ye Panjiu sighed inwardly, "She's quite clear-headed."
"Then do you know who I am?"
Zhou Xiufen frowned and thought carefully, but finally shook her head.
Ye Panjiu said calmly, "I am the owner of Jiujiu Lu. It was you who listened to your father and whispered in the magistrate's ear, trying to force my shop to close down."
Zhou Xiufen froze, her face turning even paler. "I'm sorry..."
Ye Panjiu sighed, "I was lucky to escape this calamity, but how many people didn't?"
Zhou Xiufen stared at her blankly, as if she had just realized that what she had done was not just a simple favor for her father.
She knelt down immediately, saying, "Xiufen was wrong; I was deceived by Qiaoyan..."
Madam Liu shook her head, saying, "Miss, please don't do anything bad again."
