Chapter 27 Greetings to His Eighteen Generations of Ancestors

Under the expectant gazes of her two children, Han Yi forced herself to drink the entire bowl of mushy porridge.

It was already noon, and I had planned to go to the village chief's house today to discuss the land purchase and pay the rent for this month's thatched hut. However, it seems I can only go in the afternoon now.

Thinking that the two little ones had only drunk some burnt rice porridge in the morning, I hurriedly got up, washed up, and prepared to start making lunch.

Thinking that I had eggs and flour at home, I decided to make egg noodles.

Han Yi first cracked two eggs into the flour, stirred until it resembled cotton wool, and then kneaded it into a dough by hand.

Next, set the kneaded dough aside to rest for 20 minutes. Once the dough has rested, roll it out into a thin sheet on a work surface.

The cutting board was the same one Han Yiyi sold in town last time. To prevent the dough from sticking, some flour was sprinkled on it, then the dough was folded up and cut into thin strips with a knife, and set aside for later use.

Next, add water to the pot and bring it to a boil. Then, add the noodles and cook until they float to the surface. During this time, Han Yi added a small amount of cold water to the pot twice. Once it boils again, the noodles can be taken out and rinsed in cold water to make them more chewy.

Han Yi originally wanted to make some meat sauce to eat, but then realized there was no meat left at home, so she picked some scallions from behind the house to make scallion oil.

Since some salt had already been added to the flour when kneading the dough, no more salt was added. The scallion oil was poured directly over the noodles, and that made scallion oil and egg noodles. Then, a small green vegetable was stir-fried, and lunch was ready.

Although it's simple, it's already quite good considering this era of eating and drinking less. I haven't noticed that the mother and her three children have all gained some weight recently.

After lunch, the two little ones got up to wash the dishes, and Han Yiyi didn't stop them. She hadn't let them light a fire before because she was worried they might accidentally burn themselves, and also because she was afraid they might set the house on fire. Since they were willing to do things that weren't dangerous, Han Yiyi wouldn't stop them.

Looking at the time, it was just past noon, and everyone was probably either eating or taking a nap, so Han Yiyi decided to go to the village chief's house later.

Since she couldn't sleep, and the two little ones still needed to take a nap, and she had already used up a lot of the system points during this time, Han Yiyi thought she would go to the back mountain again to see if she could find some chicken oil mushrooms or something to exchange for some more points for the Little Flower System.

After the two little ones fell asleep, I picked up the basket and headed towards the back of the mountain. The weather here was somewhat like that of southern China in modern times. Although it was already the beginning of autumn, it was still very hot. However, I estimated that the temperature would drop soon after the hot summer passed. We needed to build a house, so we had to prepare the bedding, blankets, clothes, and shoes for everyone.

Thinking of this, Han Yiyi immediately realized that she didn't have enough money. She thought to herself that she should find another way to make a living as soon as possible.

Han Yi is a foodie and was a food vlogger in her previous life, so most of the business ideas she had were related to food. Although she had a general idea in mind, she would wait until the house was built before making any decisions. As Han Yi walked, she did not realize that she had walked to the middle of the mountain.

Once she realized what was happening, she dared not go any further. Han Yiyi wasn't worried about encountering any bad guys; given her current appearance, she figured that unless the bad guys were blind, they wouldn't do anything to her.

The only worry is that I might encounter large wild animals, such as wild boars or tigers. If I encounter them, I might not be there to find food, but I might become the food myself.

Looking around, Han Yiyi didn't see any chanterelles, or even a single ordinary mushroom, probably because it hadn't rained recently. Not wanting to stay any longer, she prepared to turn back. But after taking only two steps, she faintly heard a woman sobbing in the distance.

At that moment, Han Yiyi felt her hair stand on end. She'd forgotten to mention earlier that besides being afraid of wild animals, Han Yiyi was also afraid of *that* kind of thing. Whether such a thing existed or not, she didn't know, but she was just afraid…

At this moment, Han Yi didn't dare to look back, nor did she dare to glance around. She only dared to look down at her feet and move down the mountain in small steps. If you ask her why she didn't run faster, the reason is simple: at this moment, she was so frightened that her legs went weak...

The woman's cries grew louder and louder. On this deserted mountainside, Han Yiyi felt not only her hair stand on end, but also her hair seemed to stand up one by one. The next moment, her legs went weak and she knelt on the ground. Fortunately, she was still quick enough to grab a small tree, otherwise she would have definitely rolled down the mountain.

After hugging the sapling, she still didn't dare to open her eyes. But the next moment, the woman in the direction of the tree suddenly stopped crying and said something.

"My child, I'm so sorry. Don't be afraid, wait for me, I'll come to be with you soon..."

Han Yiyi didn't open her eyes, but she could vaguely hear the voices. When she heard that it was a person speaking, Han Yiyi realized that she must have misunderstood. So she slowly opened her eyes and looked towards the source of the voice.

Only then did I realize that a woman was hanging her belt on a tree, seemingly intending to commit suicide.

Han Yiyi rushed over to stop her, and only when she got closer did she realize that this woman was someone Han Yiyi had seen before.

The woman was none other than the one who had taken the child with Han Yiyi on the oxcart to town before.

The woman was surprised to find someone on the mountain at this hour. Just as she put her head into the tied belt, her arm was grabbed, which startled her.

Han Yi saw the fleeting fear in the woman's eyes and thought, "Well, it's true what they say, people can scare each other to death. We've both been frightened once, so it's fair."

“Girl, what’s bothering you that you’re trying to kill yourself? If you die like this, how heartbroken your family will be…”

The woman's name was Wang Yan'er. Upon hearing Han Yiyi's words and with her arm being pulled, she collapsed to the ground again, sobbing softly...

Hearing the woman's suppressed sobs, Han Yiyi recalled overhearing the doctor at the clinic saying something about how late the woman had come. She realized that her suicide attempt was related to the child. Not knowing how to comfort her, Han Yiyi could only speak up.

“Girl, as long as you’re alive, there’s no hurdle you can’t overcome. Just think about it, if you really died, how heartbroken would those who care about you be…”

Upon hearing Han Yiyi's words, Wang Yan'er thought of her elderly mother, remained silent for a moment, and then spoke to Han Yiyi.

"Sister Han, thank you..."

Wang Yan'er knew Han Yiyi, not for any other reason than that she was the only woman in the entire Zhushan Village who had been divorced, and the person who divorced her was the only scholar in the village...

When Han Yi heard that Wang Yan'er knew her, she assumed that Wang Yan'er knew the original owner of the body, so she didn't think much of it. If she knew that Wang Yan'er became famous because of her being divorced by Fan Ting, she would probably curse Fan Ting's ancestors for eighteen generations in her heart.
