What are you saying?
A familiar voice came from inside.
"Brother Zhiyan!"
The person next to her jumped up and skipped over to the person coming down the corridor, affectionately taking the person's arm: "I was a little disappointed that I didn't see Sister Yue yesterday, but I didn't expect to meet her in the palace today."
Song Yue looked up.
Several wealthy young men walked in a grand procession toward them, and the most dazzling one in the crowd was undoubtedly Zhao Zhiyan.
He wore a light blue robe, with two lotus-colored sachets hanging from his jade belt, along with a jade pendant symbolizing his status. The sachets swayed from side to side with his every move.
The pattern on the sachet is... a bit strange.
Logically speaking, someone as composed as Zhao Zhiyan should have an exquisite sachet, but the one he's wearing now has terrible stitching.
Only upon closer inspection could one see that the two shapes, which could barely be called ducks, were twisted and crooked.
Song Yue's eyes flickered slightly, and she looked away.
“Little girl.” Zhao Zhiyan smiled and pointed to Princess Lian’an: “She’s quick-tempered but has no bad intentions. Please be tolerant of her.”
Hearing this, Song Yue couldn't help but laugh.
“Yes, guests are guests, and Princess Lian’an is a guest, so please be understanding, Third Miss.” Someone echoed.
Princess Lian'an still held onto Zhao Zhiyan's sleeve, the two were very close and intimate. Zhao Zhiyan did not reject her, but instead looked at Princess Lian'an with tenderness and doting eyes.
Not only Zhao Zhiyan, but everyone else around him was also surrounding Princess Lian'an.
Including the Crown Prince of Shin, who had come to propose marriage to her just a month earlier!
She hadn't done anything wrong, yet in these people's eyes she seemed like an utterly wicked person who was always ready to bully Princess Lian'an.
"There are so many noble ladies in the capital, virtuous, well-educated, gentle, and heroic. Why does Princess Lian'an insist on getting close to my sister?"
Song Zhen walked over from the other side, blocking Song Yue with most of his body: "Princess, you can stay away from your sister and find someone you can talk to, so that she won't suffer any grievances and your sister won't be misunderstood."
That makes sense.
Song Yue looked up and called out, "Big Brother."
Song Zhen affectionately patted Song Yue, giving her a look that said, "With your older brother here, you can rest assured."
Princess Lian'an opened her big eyes: "Prince Jing has misunderstood. We will be living under the same roof in the future. Third Miss and Brother Zhiyan are engaged. We will see each other all the time. We can try to get to know each other."
Princess Lian'an already said this once.
She looked at Zhao Zhiyan.
“The princess and the Eighth Prince are old friends. The princess asked the Emperor to let her stay at the Eighth Prince’s residence,” Song Zhen explained in a low voice.
Song Yue suddenly realized.
“Princess, you’re new here and don’t know the customs of Northern Chu… You don’t need to take some of what I’m saying to heart,” Zhao Zhiyan explained to Song Yue.
Song Yue smiled gently: "It's clear that Princess Lian'an relies heavily on Eighth Prince."
Princess Lian'an immediately let go of her hand, creating some distance, and scratched her head playfully, saying, "I was so happy that I forgot my limits, I'm sorry."
"It's alright," Zhao Zhiyan said. "You can learn the rules slowly, no one will say anything to you."
Watching the two chatting and laughing, Song Yue felt a tightness in her chest. It wasn't jealousy, but rather frustration. If Zhao Zhiyan had told the truth, Song Yue wouldn't have been the villain who broke up the couple.
Now she's caught in the middle, disliked by both sides.
At this moment, Eunuch Li walked over and, upon seeing Song Yue, said, "Third Miss, His Majesty is waiting for you."
Song Yue took this opportunity to leave.
