All eyes were on Zhao Zhiyan.
Princess Lian'an suddenly cried out in pain, interrupting Zhao Zhiyan's thoughts. Zhao Zhiyan first hurriedly comforted her, saying, "Lian'an, now is not the time to talk about this."
"Brother Zhiyan, do you expect me to just watch my child be born nameless and without status, suffering endless ridicule?" Princess Lian'an said, biting her lip tightly, tears wetting her temples, looking at Zhao Zhiyan with a weak and innocent expression.
That look in his eyes almost moved even Song Yue, let alone Zhao Zhiyan.
Song Yue turned her head and glanced at the doorway, and Yun Dong nodded at her.
So, Song Yue took a deep breath and looked at Zhao Zhiyan: "Eighth Imperial Uncle, why don't you agree to the princess's request first?"
Zhao Zhiyan suddenly looked up: "Are you really willing?"
Song Yue shook her head: "Of course I don't want to, but the facts are right in front of me, leaving me no choice. There is another way at this moment."
Zhao Zhiyan's heart skipped a beat, a vague sense of foreboding washing over him. Princess Lian'an gripped Zhao Zhiyan's hand even tighter, eagerly awaiting Song Yue's next words.
After a moment of tense silence, Song Yue said, "A princess of such high status would never become a concubine. I am intolerant of any dissent. The princess is delicate and may not be a match for me. For the sake of the princess, why doesn't Eighth Prince break off the engagement?"
"Little girl!" Zhao Zhiyan's heart trembled.
"The engagement was made back then only to protect ourselves. Now that the crisis is over, we can dissolve the engagement and go our separate ways. Eighth Prince can openly marry the princess as his concubine. In the future, when I choose a husband, he will naturally have to comply with all my conditions. It's a win-win situation!"
Song Yue slightly raised her chin, her eyes filled with arrogance.
Princess Lian'an looked at Zhao Zhiyan excitedly, almost as if she had agreed for him, and squeezed the back of his hand: "Brother Zhiyan..."
Zhao Zhiyan stared intently at Song Yue, his breathing becoming rapid.
"There was never any affection between us, and I don't want to get involved with you and be the bad guy."
"I have feelings for you," Zhao Zhiyan growled.
“As long as there is a child, it is an insurmountable barrier, and contact is inevitable.” Song Yue’s lips curled into a mocking smile: “Unless, this child does not exist, and you have no other children besides me in the future.”
Zhao Zhiyan took a deep breath, a hint of anger rising between his thick eyebrows. Princess Lian'an was stunned by Song Yue's words: "Brother Zhiyan is of noble status, and he must have many children. Sister Yue, aren't you deliberately making things difficult for Brother Zhiyan?"
“He’s not the only one with a prestigious status. Just because he can’t do it doesn’t mean others can’t,” Song Yue retorted.
Zhao Zhiyan suddenly grabbed Song Yue's wrist: "Little girl, do you really want to break off the engagement?"
Instead of answering, Song Yue asked, "My husband can only have me as his wife. He cannot have any mistresses or other children born out of wedlock."
The two looked at each other, neither willing to give in.
“I will send Lian’an and the child out of the manor, and you will never see them again,” Zhao Zhiyan said.
Princess Lian'an's face turned deathly pale in an instant, and she looked at Zhao Zhiyan in disbelief: "Brother Zhiyan..."
Song Yue pointed to Princess Lian'an's lower body: "If she is not treated within half an hour, this child will not be saved. Eighth Imperial Uncle, you should think it over."
Zhao Zhiyan stiffened slightly, looking at Song Yue in disbelief: "You'd delay saving someone's life because of this?"
These words made Song Yue laugh in anger. She wanted to save her, but Princess Lian'an would rather die than give in, insisting that she agree to live together as sisters. She left the choice to Zhao Zhiyan.
But the other party wants both, trying to profit from both sides.
Song Yue was extremely disappointed.
If she had known that breaking off the engagement would be so troublesome, she shouldn't have agreed to the marriage in the first place to protect herself, and now she wouldn't be in such a predicament.
"There are so many imperial physicians in the palace, why do you insist on having me? Princess Lian'an only had a miscarriage, which can be stabilized with acupuncture. Eighth Imperial Uncle, do you want this child to survive, or do you want me to lose the child and feel guilty for the rest of my life, so that you can do your best to make amends to Princess Lian'an in front of me?" Song Yue's patience ran out, and she turned to look at Princess Lian'an: "You're using your own child to force me to compromise, then I can tell you that you're wrong. Your child died in your womb, and you killed him with your own hands."
As she spoke, Song Yue suddenly broke free from Princess Lian'an's grasp, took a few steps back, and glared at Zhao Zhiyan with displeasure: "Eighth Imperial Uncle, now lives are in your hands, you choose."
After saying that, Song Yue turned and left.
She doesn't care about Zhao Zhiyan, so why should she care about what image she has in his heart?
If she compromises today, who knows what other trouble she might cause in the future.
Having been reborn, Song Yue will never tolerate such humiliation.
"Little girl!" Zhao Zhiyan quickly stood up and grabbed Song Yue's sleeve, lowering his voice: "Are you really going to stand by and watch her die?"
"I'll save you if you want, but I want to break off the engagement."
“Some things aren’t what you think. Can’t you just trust me?” Zhao Zhiyan asked, his breathing rapid.
Song Yue clicked her tongue.
Zhao Zhiyan lowered his voice: "No one taught you manners in the past, but three years have passed, and it's time for you to control your temper. No one will always indulge you."
This tone made Song Yue extremely uncomfortable, and she sneered, "There's no need for Eighth Imperial Uncle to worry about that."
During their argument, Princess Lian'an, who was on the bed, cried out in pain, and her maid exclaimed that she was bleeding.
Zhao Zhiyan tightened his grip: "Save them first!"
Song Yue remained motionless.
"It hurts... Brother Zhiyan..."
"Zhiyan...brother..."
Song Yue's eyes were stubborn: "Forced love is never sweet. I saved people, so I'll consider it repaying the favor I received back then."
After a moment, Zhao Zhiyan's eyes softened: "I agree!"
