Chapter 14 Entering the Palace to Pay Homage to the Emperor

As Song Hengchuan was dragged away, Song Yue glanced back at him, curled her lips at him, and mouthed "idiot!"

Song Hengchuan was so angry that he almost jumped up and hit him.

Fortunately, the guards knocked him unconscious and dragged him away in time.

"Yue'er." The Grand Madam, suppressing her patience, helped Song Yue up. "You've been quite frightened today, go back and rest."

“Grandmother…” Song Yue shook her head and said timidly, “I dare not go back to Yuhan Courtyard. There is blood everywhere. When I close my eyes, all I can see are scenes of murder. Grandmother, I want to stay at the temple for a while.”

The old lady's lips twitched slightly, naturally rejecting Song Yue's suggestion: "You can stay in Ning'an Hall for now, and move in after Madam Yuan has finished tidying up Yuehua Pavilion."

Song Yue pursed her lips and nodded obediently.

The old lady was already exhausted and was about to leave when Song Yue said again, "Grandmother, I want to renew all the indentures that served me in Yuhan Courtyard."

The old lady hesitated, looking at Song Yue with a solemn expression.

“Or you could go to the slave trader and buy some more maids. Otherwise, these maids are only in Cao Cao's camp but their hearts are with Liu Bei, and I won’t feel at ease using them,” Song Yue insisted.

The two exchanged a glance, and the Dowager Lady, already somewhat impatient, waved her hand, saying, "As you wish!"

"Thank you, Grandmother!"

Song Yue obediently thanked Yuan Fuling and planned to go to her place the next day to get the indenture. She followed the maid to the side courtyard to rest.

The courtyard wasn't large, but it was clean and tidy, and she wasn't picky about it as a temporary residence.

After the farce subsided.

Song Yue sat in the chair and poured herself a cup of tea.

Seeing that no one was around, Granny Yang knelt down with a thud: "Third, Third Miss, this old servant is willing to follow you to the death."

That's terrifying, that little girl is inhuman.

Despite having irrefutable evidence, she still managed to turn the tables on him with ease.

Not only that, the person who filed the complaint also lost his life.

How could she possibly bring down someone like that?

Song Yue helped Yang Mama up: "I hope you won't disappoint me, Mama."

Granny Yang gave an embarrassed smile and hurriedly said that she dared not.

Moon Pavilion

Yuan Fuling had just finished serving the Duke of Jingguo and was resting shyly in his arms when she heard the commotion outside and frowned.

"My lord, I'll go take a look."

The Duke of Jingguo gave a faint "hmm".

Yuan Fuling put on her clothes, got out of bed, and went to the side. Her trusted maidservant whispered what had happened that night, and Yuan Fuling's expression changed.

"The old lady was so angry that she beat Wang Mama to death and punished the eldest young master by making him kneel for an extra day. The third young lady is currently living in Ning'an Hall, waiting for you to vacate Yuehua Pavilion before moving in."

Upon hearing this, Yuan Fuling's chest heaved. She had grown accustomed to living in Yuehua Pavilion and was unwilling to move out at all, and was even thinking of ways to cope.

Who would have thought this would happen again tonight.

"What happened?" Duke Jingguo asked curiously when he saw that she hadn't said anything for a long time.

Yuan Fuling hesitated for a long time but still answered truthfully. The Duke of Jingguo's eyes widened and his face grew darker and darker: "There is such a thing!"

“Lord Duke, Mother has already dealt with it, so you don’t need to go anymore. After all, Yue’er and Chuan’er are siblings. If Yue’er were more gentle, why would Chuan’er target her at every turn?” Yuan Fuling sighed.

Thinking about Song Yue's temper, the Duke of Jingguo was also at a loss: "In a few days, I will have to find a way to send her away."

If this continues, there will be no peace in the household.

Yuan Fuling forced a smile.

The next morning

Yuan Fuling had just helped the Duke of Jingguo get dressed and was preparing to send him to court when a maid announced that the Third Miss had arrived. The Duke of Jingguo's eyelids twitched: "Why is she here?"

"Father!" Song Yue walked quickly over and curtsied to the Duke of Jingguo: "Daughter greets Father."

Looking at Song Yue's thin and frail body, and the fear and unease on her small face, his anger subsided by three points.

"Did the Third Miss come here specifically to pay her respects?" Yuan Fuling asked with a smile.

Song Yue shook her head: "Besides paying my respects, I'm here to help Madam Yuan move."

She didn't call her "aunt"; calling her "madam" was already an honor.

Yuan Fuling's smile froze, and she looked at Duke Jingguo with a wronged expression.

"Are you in such a hurry? There are so many courtyards in the manor, why does it have to be Yuehua Pavilion?" Duke Jingguo said irritably.

Song Yue blinked, then immediately looked aggrieved: "Father means I have to choose again. Does Grandmother's previous words mean nothing?"

The Duke of Jingguo choked on his own choking.

"Third Miss, you've misunderstood. The Grand Madam is getting old, and she didn't refuse you for the sake of family harmony. I'm used to living in Yuehua Pavilion, and I definitely can't move out anytime soon. So, if you really don't like Yuhan Courtyard, I'll get you a different courtyard, how about that?" Yuan Fuling practically coaxed her into saying this.

Song Yue nodded obediently: "Okay."

This time it was Yuan Fuling's turn to be stunned, looking at Song Yue suspiciously. Was this girl really that easy to talk to?

"Alright, it's getting late. You should learn some manners from Granny Yang." Seeing that it was time for the morning court session, the Duke of Jingguo got up and left.

Song Yue turned around and followed: "Father, the Emperor has ordered me to enter the palace. I will go with you."

Upon hearing this, the Duke of Jingguo stopped in his tracks and looked directly at Song Yue.

Song Yue pointed to the palace servants waiting outside the door.

Duke Jingguo glanced at her and realized she was none other than the Grand Steward of the Northern Chu Emperor. His breath caught in his throat; this day had finally come. He stared at Song Yue and said, "Don't speak carelessly when you see the Emperor."

"Father wants me to deceive the emperor?" Song Yue blinked her innocent big eyes.

Duke Jingguo was nearly driven mad with anger upon hearing this: "When did I ever ask you to deceive the emperor? Can't you be a little more tactful? Family scandals shouldn't be aired in public..."
