Chapter 150 Manipulating the Situation

The Empress Dowager was so angry she fainted. The matter reached the ears of the Northern Chu Emperor. Coincidentally, the Northern Chu Emperor was playing chess with Princess Jia Hua. The little eunuch hesitated until the end of the game before daring to speak.

Snap!

The chess piece is placed.

The Emperor of Northern Chu raised an eyebrow: "What's going on?"

"Your Majesty, I heard that the Eighth Prince sent a box to Ning'an Palace, and the Empress Dowager fainted after just one look at it."

Princess Jia Hua looked curious upon hearing this. Emperor Bei Chu glanced at her, noticed her curiosity, and quickly asked, "What's in the box?"

"It was Lingxi, the concubine that the Empress Dowager bestowed upon the Eighth Prince half a month ago. She was turned into a human pig and was still breathing when she was sent over."

hiss!

Princess Jia Hua gasped and clicked her tongue, saying, "If you don't like a concubine, just leave her in a corner. At the very least, give her a whole corpse. How can you be so cruel?"

Unable to live or die, this seems unlike something the Eighth Prince, known for his gentle and kind nature, would do.

"The Eighth Prince's Consort fainted at the residence today. The imperial physician said her life hangs by a thread. It was caused by the Western Regions' Illusionary Enchanting Potion. The Eighth Prince has traced it back to Lingxi. Ten days ago, Granny Tan saw Lingxi," the young eunuch replied truthfully.

Princess Jia Hua smiled knowingly. She placed the last particle down and looked at the Emperor of Northern Chu: "Your Majesty, this is a feud between the Empress Dowager and the Eighth Prince. You don't need to interfere. I'll go and see what's going on with the Empress Dowager."

Princess Jia Hua was unwilling to let the Northern Chu Emperor favor one of them from beginning to end.

There are some things that don't warrant his intervention.

"In the blink of an eye, more than a decade has passed since the founding emperor died. It's time for Consort Rou to return."

Consort Rou was a concubine of Emperor Taizu. She made a mistake and was ordered by Emperor Taizu to guard the imperial mausoleum before his death. Consort Rou also had another identity: Zhao Zhiyan's biological mother.

"Cousin, the Emperor Taizu has ordered that Consort Rou must not return." The Emperor of Northern Chu was somewhat troubled.

Princess Jiahua said, "The third day of next month is the anniversary of the founding emperor's death. The emperor will leave the palace to pay respects to the ancestors, giving Consort Rou a chance to make a contribution."

The Emperor of Northern Chu always listened to Princess Jia Hua, and obediently nodded: "I will listen to my cousin."

Princess Jia Hua stood up to leave, and the Emperor of Northern Chu looked at her with reluctance; "Cousin, are you leaving already?"

"Two lives are at stake, we can't wait."

Princess Jia Hua waved her hand and strode away.

As he watched the other person's retreating figure, the Northern Chu Emperor's face instantly turned cold, his eyes flashing with cruelty and bloodlust. The serving eunuch trembled in fear and quickly lowered his eyes.

It's really not his fault; he didn't want to interrupt the Emperor and Princess's time alone.

"If this happens again, shut your mouth!" the Emperor of Northern Chu said.

The little eunuch knelt down with a thud: "Yes, yes, this servant remembers."

"Go out and receive your punishment!"

The young eunuch quickly knelt down and retreated.

Everyone present was terrified, fearing they might be caught in the crossfire.

The princess hadn't been to the palace for two months, and it was quite a rare occasion for her to come. She had promised to play chess with the emperor, but she left after only one game. How could the emperor not be angry?

"That Eighth Prince is really something, why did he have to choose this time to send in such an unlucky thing!" The Northern Chu Emperor's heart pounded.

He had been looking forward to this day for a long time.

This is really annoying.

Ning'an Palace was in chaos until Princess Jiahua arrived, at which point things finally calmed down. Empress Dowager Xu's face was ashen, and she was trembling with fear.

Judging from his appearance, he was indeed quite frightened.

Upon seeing her arrive, Empress Dowager Xu grabbed Princess Jiahua's sleeve: "Jiahua, the Eighth Prince is too presumptuous. I am an elder, and the Empress Dowager of Northern Chu. How dare he humiliate me like this?"

Lingxi's image lingered in Empress Dowager Xu's mind. Her lips trembled as she said, "I raised him, after all. How unfilial! Utterly unfilial."

Princess Jiahua sat down beside her, bending over, and gently patted Empress Dowager Xu's arm: "Perhaps there is some misunderstanding. The Eighth Prince has a mild temper and rarely does anything so outrageous."

"He wouldn't do it. That peasant girl is no pushover. She argued with me in the Imperial Garden the other day and then instigated the Eighth Prince to do something so outrageous." Empress Dowager Xu cried out in anger, "I will never forgive her!"

Princess Jia Hua only tried to persuade her.

"Jiahua, it would be no good if such a person became emperor in the future." Empress Dowager Xu grasped her hand tightly as if she had grabbed a lifeline, her voice trembling as she said, "Not only me, but also your Jingguo Duke's Mansion and Princess's Mansion have offended him. He has endured for many years and has finally revealed his true colors..."

"Empress Dowager!" Princess Jiahua interrupted her: "The Eighth Prince is both a scholar and a warrior, and his virtue and talent are evident to all. How could he retaliate over such a small grudge? How could a ruler have such magnanimity?"

Seeing that Princess Jia Hua was unmoved by reason, Empress Dowager Xu said anxiously, "Which ruler has not slaughtered millions of corpses and caused rivers of blood after ascending to the throne? If you are not ruthless, your position will not be secure."

"Your Majesty, you've been frightened. Don't speak nonsense anymore." Princess Jiahua pulled her hand away, glanced at Granny Tan, and her sharp gaze frightened Granny Tan so much that she went limp and fell to the ground: "Princess, Princess."

"There is some misunderstanding between the Empress Dowager and the Eighth Prince. Go to the Eighth Prince's residence in person and tell him that the Empress Dowager is old and confused about some things. She hopes that the Eighth Prince will forgive her past grievances out of consideration for their past relationship."

Granny Tan was taken aback.

By spreading this message, isn't it tantamount to acknowledging certain crimes?

She looked at Empress Dowager Xu with trepidation.

Empress Dowager Xu said angrily, "Jiahua, what do you mean by that? Do you want me to bow down and admit my mistake?"

"The Empress Dowager's actions today are to leave a way out for the Xu family's descendants." Princess Jiahua's words instantly silenced the Empress Dowager.

One of them is the future emperor; how could she dare to offend him?

The blame lies with the Northern Chu Emperor for his injury when he was young, which prevented him from having children. Otherwise, how could Zhao Zhiyan have gotten the throne?
