Song Yue made a move to walk out, with Yun Ke following closely behind, passing through the crowd.
"Little girl!" Zhao Zhiyan called out.
Song Yue seemed not to hear, her face pale as she continued walking forward.
Suddenly, a strong smell of blood filled the air. Song Yue's face turned pale, and she almost lost her footing.
If Yunke hadn't been supporting her from behind, she might not have been able to stand steadily.
“Mother!” Song Yue called out.
After a long while, a voice responded from across the crowd: "A-Yue!"
Song Yue's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, suddenly settled down. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she continued walking past the Imperial Guards. Yun Ke covered her eyes, and Song Yue said, "It's just a corpse, I'm not afraid."
She had seen even the bloodiest scenes.
Knowing her temper, Yunke lowered his hand.
Song Yue saw Princess Jia Hua sitting on the ground, with red blood seeping from beneath her body. Song Yue's face turned deathly pale, and her heart nearly stopped pounding: "Mother!"
He rushed to Princess Jia Hua's side, and Princess Jia Hua quickly said, "It's just some superficial wounds, it's nothing serious, it's all someone else's blood."
Once she confirmed that Princess Jiahua had only injured her arm, Song Yue wanted nothing more than to hug Princess Jiahua and wail, but she gritted her teeth to keep herself calm.
"Your Majesty, all the assassins have been executed," said the commander of the Imperial Guards.
The Northern Chu Emperor's face was ashen; "Today, during the ancestral worship ceremony, so many assassins appeared. If it weren't for Princess Jiahua saving me with her life, I'm afraid I would have met with misfortune."
"Your Majesty!" Someone pointed to the woman who was still panting beside him: "And Consort Rou also saved you."
The Emperor of Northern Chu stared at Consort Rou with a hint of ruthlessness, showing no regard for the person before him as his savior.
He had seen it very clearly just now. Now that the attack was coming, Consort Rou hesitated whether to step forward or not. She grabbed Princess Jia Hua's arm and stepped forward to block her. In the chaos, she took the sword on the ground and stabbed herself, pretending that she had been stabbed by the assassin while trying to save herself.
Consort Rou, looking weak, knelt down and bowed, saying, "Greetings to Your Majesty."
The Northern Chu Emperor remained silent, his gaze shifting to Princess Jia Hua. Bright red blood dripped from his cousin's shoulder, soaking half of her clothes.
He walked anxiously toward Princess Jia Hua.
Princess Jia Hua propped herself up and stood up: "Your Majesty, I only have superficial injuries."
"A superficial wound?" The Emperor of Northern Chu pointed to his shoulder: "I saw with my own eyes that the assassin pierced my shoulder. If you hadn't protected me, I would be dead."
At this moment, the Northern Chu Emperor's eyes were bloodshot, like a raging lion.
As they were talking, another group of unknown men in black arrived.
Unfortunately, everyone present was on guard.
Princess Jia Hua could recognize at a glance that these were the people she had arranged. The people from before were full of murderous intent and their moves were deadly; they were not hers at all.
"Kill! Leave no one alive!" the Northern Chu Emperor roared.
"Your Majesty, this is not right! These assassins must be thoroughly investigated, and we must leave them alive," a minister suggested.
The Northern Chu Emperor's eyes darkened: "Kill!"
Looking at the emperor before them, the crowd suddenly remembered the tyrannical emperor from three years ago who killed people at the drop of a hat. They hadn't seen the emperor angry in a long time.
The men in black were all killed in an instant.
Princess Jia Hua breathed a barely perceptible sigh of relief. If she had really been caught, it might have taken a lot of effort.
"I will personally investigate the matter of the assassin. No one is allowed to interfere without authorization; otherwise, it will be a crime of deceiving the emperor!" After saying this, the Emperor of Northern Chu bent down to help Princess Jia Hua up: "Prepare the horses and summon the imperial physician!"
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the Emperor of Northern Chu took Princess Jiahua away.
Yunke helped Song Yue catch up.
The ancestral worship ceremony came to a hasty end.
Only Zhao Zhiyan arrived at Consort Rou's side: "Mother."
Consort Rou sniffed, looking terrified, and tightly held Zhao Zhiyan's hand: "Yan'er, the imperial mausoleum is too dangerous. I can't stay here any longer."
"Let's go!" Zhao Zhiyan made a decisive move and took Consort Rou with him.
On the carriage
The imperial physician trembled, terrified by the emperor's imposing aura before him. If Princess Jia Hua frowned even slightly, the Northern Chu Emperor would roar, "You wretched thing, you've hurt my cousin!"
"Yes...yes." The imperial physician was on the verge of tears. With such a deep wound being bandaged and cleaned, it was inevitable that it would be touched. How could it not hurt?
Princess Jia Hua had no choice but to grit her teeth and endure it without uttering a sound.
The imperial physician gave Princess Jia Hua a grateful look.
Once the wound was fully exposed, the imperial physician's expression changed slightly, and his heart leaped into his throat: "This...this knife is poisoned!"
Princess Jia Hua frowned.
Outside the carriage, Song Yue asked anxiously, "Mother, may I take a look?"
The furious voice of the Northern Chu Emperor rang out from inside the carriage: "Guards, find out everything about today's assassins!"
Despite the scolding, Song Yue still got into the carriage.
The imperial physician withdrew.
Song Yue looked at the festering black marks on the wound, and her eyelids twitched. This poison looked somewhat familiar.
"Ah Yue, quickly show your cousin what she needs. Just tell me." The Northern Chu Emperor panicked, his eyes red-rimmed like a helpless child.
Song Yue looked up at Princess Jia Hua: "Mother, this poison is treatable, but it will be painful. Please bear with it."
Princess Jia Hua nodded.
Then Song Yue took out silver needles and sealed Princess Jia Hua's blood vessels, then slowly used a dagger to remove the surrounding wounds.
She moved extremely slowly. Princess Jiahua had a piece of cloth tightly clenched in her mouth, her face turned pale with pain, and she was covered in sweat. She almost fainted.
"Your Majesty, please help Mother up," Song Yue said to the Emperor of Northern Chu.
The Emperor of Northern Chu gritted his teeth and restrained Princess Jia Hua.
"Ouch!" Princess Jia Hua's eyes widened in pain.
