Song Yue compromised and went to the Shen family's banquet. The next day was much quieter; no one bothered her. She stayed in front of the Grand Madam for a while before being chased away.
She was happy to be at ease and strolled around the Duke of Jingguo's mansion.
Having been raised in captivity in her previous life, she had no idea how large the Duke of Jingguo's mansion was. Zhang Mama whispered in her ear, "The Duke also has two sons born out of wedlock, the fourth and fifth sons, and two daughters born out of wedlock, the sixth and seventh daughters. Both sons are motherless, the older one is ten years old and the younger one is nine years old, and they are in the outer academy. Both daughters are eight years old, and they are the daughters of the maids who serve the madam. They are very well raised."
Clever……
It's just that it's timid and has been spoiled.
Yuan Fuling did this because she didn't want to be known as jealous.
Both boys lost their birth mothers, who died from serious illnesses.
Song Yue didn't believe it. A concubine with a son was a threat to Yuan Fuling. How could she tolerate it?
"What about Aunt Han?"
She remembered that when her mother was still alive, there were two concubines, Yuan Fuling and Concubine Han. Concubine Han was born into a respectable family and was a concubine of noble birth, whose status was even higher than that of Yuan Fuling at the time.
Why did Yuan Fuling take over after her mother passed away?
Granny Zhang paused, surprised that anyone still remembered Concubine Han. She quickly looked around and lowered her voice, saying, "Miss, the Grand Madam has ordered that no one in the household is allowed to mention Concubine Han. Back then, Concubine Han... was caught cheating by the Duke and drowned."
Song Yue stopped and asked curiously, "What exactly is going on?"
Seeing that Song Yue was pressing for an answer, Zhang Mama had no choice but to explain: "Nine years ago, at the Grand Madam's birthday banquet, Concubine Han was caught in bed with someone else. That lover was also one of the guests, Han Feng, the second young master of the Han family, a playboy. That day, the Duke's mansion lost face. Concubine Han said she was wronged, but her undergarment was still hanging around Han Feng's neck. The room was filled with the stench of pleasure. Han Feng couldn't explain himself, so it was assumed that Concubine Han was lonely and seduced Han Feng."
"This is too hasty, and it's very possible that Aunt Han was framed," Yun Dong whispered.
Song Yue nodded in agreement. If Aunt Han had any brains at all, she wouldn't have engaged in such an affair in that kind of setting, and then she got caught.
That's so stupid.
The only possibility is that they were tricked by Yuan Fuling.
After all, it was Yuan Fuling who truly benefited.
"How is Young Master Han doing now?" Song Yue asked.
Granny Zhang sighed: "Back then, Master Han beat her thirty times and brought her back to the mansion. She has been scorned ever since and remains unmarried. She is already infamous."
Song Yue's eyes lit up with an astonishing brightness, but this made Zhang Mama tremble with fear, a sense of foreboding lingering in her heart.
"Yun Dong, come with me. I haven't explored the capital city yet." Yun Dong nodded.
“Young lady, you don’t have the right cards, so you might not be able to get out,” said Granny Zhang.
Song Yue thought it made sense, so she walked towards the Rose Courtyard. When she saw Yuan Fuling, she suggested that they go out. Seeing that Yuan Fuling was about to refuse, Song Yue said, "It's so boring staying at home. If we don't go out, we'll get sick."
Yuan Fuling was worried that Song Yue would get sick from holding back her desire for a banquet the day after tomorrow, which would ruin everything, so she generously gave her one hundred taels of silver: "You must be back in two hours."
"Thank you, Madam." Song Yue picked up the silver and the tokens and left.
Yun Dong gave Song Yue a thumbs up and looked at her with admiration: "Miss, I admire you more and more."
Song Yue smiled.
The two walked down the street, a bustling and lively place under the emperor's feet, with vendors everywhere. Passing by a shop selling small jewelry, she picked up a pair of earrings and held them up to Yun Dong's ears, then generously took out some silver: "Here you go."
Yun Dong was flattered and surprised; "Miss!"
The two continued walking forward, intentionally or unintentionally heading towards the Han family's residence. Ling Yi glanced behind them and said, "I want to see the Second Young Master Han."
Ling Yi frowned: "Now?"
"Um."
Ling nodded, then turned and left.
Song Yue and Yun Dong simply sat down in front of the vendor and ordered two bowls of wontons. The taste was extremely delicious. Song Yue smacked her lips and rubbed her stomach.
This was the most enjoyable meal I'd had in days.
"Miss, Young Master Han is currently at Chunfeng Tower." Ling Yi's voice sounded from behind.
Chunfenglou sounds like a brothel.
Without saying a word, Song Yue changed into men's clothing and headed straight for Chunfeng Tower. Upon entering, she generously gave several silver ingots as a reward, then gestured to keep away a few girls who were trying to get close. Following Ling Yi's directions, she saw a man lying in a girl's arms, drinking.
The man was thin, unkempt, and had a dark bluish face, looking rather颓废 (颓废 is a difficult word to translate directly, but it conveys a sense of decadence, listlessness, and a sense of dejection), but he was handsome.
Song Yue walked towards the man: "Han Feng!"
Han Feng looked up at Song Yue, rubbing his head drunkenly, and asked, "Who are you?"
At Song Yue's signal, Ling Yi chased away everyone around him. Han Feng frowned, propped himself up, casually placed one hand on his knee, and looked at her with a sneer.
"I've come to talk to you about what happened at the banquet at the Duke of Jing's mansion nine years ago. Are you interested?" Song Yue asked.
Han Feng's expression changed slightly.
"I'll be waiting for you in the private room on the second floor of the teahouse next door in half an hour."
"Why should I trust you?" Han Feng asked from behind.
Without turning her head, Song Yue said, "You're already infamous and abandoned by your family. You're of no use anymore. Why don't you listen to me? Maybe you can turn the tables."
After saying that, she strode away.
He went straight to the second floor, and had barely sat down when he heard footsteps coming from downstairs. Han Feng pushed open the door, and there was no trace of drunkenness in his eyes.
