The small, quiet courtyard was pitch black, and there was a foul stench inside the house. Song Yue took out a clean white handkerchief and pressed it tightly to her nose, her gaze sweeping over the two people.
Lady Wan had been starving for half a month and was already weak and powerless. She had obviously lost a lot of weight, her hair was dry and yellow, her dress was covered in mud, and her small face was sallow and thin, like a butterfly on the verge of death.
Upon seeing the newcomer, his eyes lit up at first, then a look of fear flashed in them. He swallowed hard and asked, "Princess?"
Liang Ying glanced at Madam Wan, wishing she could tear her to pieces, took a deep breath, and then looked at Liang An.
Liang An hadn't been punished for the past two weeks. His wounds had long since scabbed over. With his hands firmly restrained, he looked up at Liang Ying and moved his lips: "You were used. The Crown Princess deliberately lured you here. Ying'er, how have you been?"
The gentle tone made Liang Ying pause for a moment before she turned to look at Song Yue with suspicion.
Song Yue raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her eyes, and walked toward Madam Wan with a long whip in her hand. For the past half month, she had only ordered Madam Wan to go hungry, and had not touched her hair yet.
Snap!
A whip fell.
A scream pierced the sky.
Lady Wan, her face pale with pain, bit her lip tightly and looked at Song Yue with resentment: "Why must the Crown Princess force a confession?"
"Drag him out and reward the entire army!" Song Yue lost her patience.
Liang An finally gave in to fear: "Crown Princess! What exactly do you want?"
Song Yue sneered: "I warned you before, don't try to play tricks on me. Today is no longer just about the two of you. I will continue to arrest people and bring your eldest son and two daughters here one by one!"
Liang An's pupils contracted, and his tone softened: "Yes, I am sorry, sir. I am the third young master of the Zhenbei Marquis's Mansion in Dongying. Thirty years ago, I was sent to the Liang family's fiefdom and became the eldest son of the Liang family. Wan'er is my wife and a noble lady from Dongying. She is not some helpless concubine at all."
With each word he spoke, Liang Ying's face grew paler.
“There’s something else,” Song Yue reminded her. “Over the years, Liang An only touched you a few months ago when he was drugged and forced to drink. He has never touched you in the previous ten years or so. And your two daughters are not his biological children.”
"What?" Liang Ying was stunned, taking several steps back and looking at Liang An in disbelief: "She, is what she said true?"
Liang An looked away guiltily, and finally said, "I'm sorry, I will make it up to you in the next life."
