Chapter 225 Fury

Soon it arrived at Consort Xian's birthday, and the whole palace was bustling with activity. The Emperor of Dongying came to Jingyang Palace as soon as he finished court, indicating that he would not be spending the evening with her.

Linghu Ning cautiously tugged at the Emperor of Dongying's sleeve: "Your Majesty, I am somewhat apprehensive today."

The Emperor of Dongying frowned and patiently explained, "It is Consort Xian's birthday today. I promised Consort Xian that I would accompany her today. Ning'er, be good."

Linghu Ning released her grip and then gave instructions to Chan'er. Chan'er immediately fetched a brocade box, opened it to reveal a peony hairpin inside, which was gorgeous and dazzling.

"This was made by me in my spare time. Please give it to Consort Xian to wish her a happy birthday."

The Emperor of Japan relaxed his brow and smiled slightly.

After a moment, he got up and left.

Linghu Ning turned her head and glanced at the departing figure of the Emperor of Dongying. A sinister glint appeared in her eyes, but it vanished in an instant. She leaned back on the couch, feeling drowsy.

Chan'er was already used to it, and remained quiet without disturbing her.

As usual, Physician Li came to take the patient's pulse. He glanced at Chan'er behind him and said with a smile, "The Consort Xian gave a lot of reward money for her birthday banquet today. I will be going to have the banquet in a little while. I will trouble Miss Chan'er to do my best."

Chan'er listened to the opera music outside, its soft and melodious sounds making her feel restless, but she gave it a perfunctory reply.

"This is what I should do."

Physician Li lowered his voice and placed a pill in Linghu Ning's hand. Linghu Ning calmly put it away and leaned back on the couch, feeling drowsy.

"Your humble servant takes his leave."

Only the two of them remained in the large hall. Linghu Ning preferred quiet and would not allow anyone to serve her in the room once she fell asleep, which Chan'er had long been used to.

Chan'er craned her neck to see if Linghu Ning was asleep. Listening to her soft breathing, she hesitated whether to go out.

"Sister Chan'er."

The palace maid waved the gold melon seeds in her hand: "Today is Consort Xian's thirtieth birthday. His Majesty is bestowing a great reward upon everyone in the palace. Each person can receive five gold melon seeds."

Chan'er's eyes lit up: "Really?"

She glanced hesitantly at Linghu Ning, thinking that the Empress always took at least an hour to wake up after falling asleep, and her round trip had taken less than half an hour, so she should be fine.

So Chan'er stamped her foot and ran off.

The birthday banquet for Consort Xian was very grand, and even her family members were invited to the palace. Consort Xian looked at her brother's family with tears in her eyes.

But he still held back and pulled his sister-in-law aside to talk.

Midway through the banquet, a young eunuch hurriedly approached the Japanese emperor, whispered a few words, and the emperor's expression instantly changed.

Consort Xian saw it at a glance, and her eyelids twitched suddenly.

"emperor?"

The Emperor of Japan stood up and said in a cold voice, "I'll be right back."

When they arrived at Jingyang Palace, they heard Chan'er crying from afar, calling out for the Imperial Concubine. The Emperor of Dongying was so frightened that he stopped in his tracks and dared not go any further.

Suddenly, a familiar figure stumbled out from inside, disheveled and flushed. Upon seeing the newcomer, he froze, exclaiming, "Father, Father Emperor?"

Seeing his son's state, the Emperor of Japan's face darkened considerably. He bypassed the people and went straight into the house.

The first thing you see is a glaring red.

The carpet was stained red.

Linghu Ning lay on the ground, clutching a hairpin to her neck. Her lower body was already covered in blood, and her clothes were torn, revealing her fair shoulders.

"Your Highness, this servant is Chan'er. Please put it down."

"Get out!" Linghu Ning shouted, as if she had gone mad, "Get out of here! Don't come any closer!"

"Your Highness, the Imperial Concubine..."

"roll!"

Linghu Ning waved the hairpin frantically in the air, panting heavily, "Your Majesty, Your Majesty, please come and save me, Your Majesty!"

Linghu Ning's repeated calls nearly broke the heart of the Japanese Emperor. He strode forward, and Linghu Ning excitedly plunged a hairpin into his wrist.

Pfft!

Blood was flowing.

The Emperor of Dongying grunted, but didn't pay any attention. He anxiously pulled her into his arms and said, "Ning'er, it's me. I'm here."

Linghu Ning struggled, but gradually calmed down when she heard the sound. She clung to the Emperor of Dongying, trembling, and said, "Your Majesty, I am afraid. Please save me."

She kept repeating that phrase.

"Your Majesty!" Consort Xian followed the Emperor of Dongying after he had not returned for a long time. Seeing the bloodstains in the room, her eyelids twitched. Then she saw the hairpin on the Emperor's wrist and was immediately furious: "Someone, quickly treat His Majesty's wound."

The Emperor of Dongying held Linghu Ning in his arms, ignoring Consort Xian's words, and ordered the imperial physician to examine Linghu Ning first. Consort Xian became anxious: "Your Majesty, your health is too precious to delay. Has Consort Xian relapsed and injured you? Your Majesty, such a woman cannot continue to stay by your side. In my opinion, she should be banished to the Cold Palace, which would be a dignified way to save face!"

The person in my arms trembled even more violently.

The Emperor of Japan grabbed a cup of tea from the table and threw it at Consort Xian: "Shut up!"

The teacup grazed Consort Xian's cheek, leaving a red mark.

Consort Xian covered her face and froze.

"Your Majesty, my stomach hurts so much." Linghu Ning lay curled up in the Emperor's arms, her face pale, writhing in pain.

The Emperor of Japan tried to appease her, but roared at Physician Li, "What are you all standing there for? Quickly examine the Imperial Concubine!"

"Yes." Imperial Physician Li hurriedly stepped forward, took the pulse, and knelt down: "Your Majesty, the young prince is gone."

Upon hearing this, Linghu Ning froze and collapsed unconscious into the arms of the Japanese emperor.

"Ning'er? Ning'er?" The Emperor of Dongying panicked and asked in a somber voice, "What exactly happened to the Imperial Concubine?"
