After saying that, Princess Jia Hua turned and left.
Yuan Fuling remained where she was, seething with anger but daring not to speak out.
The carriage carrying the bride for the marriage alliance mingled with the carriages from southern Xinjiang. She leaned against the side of the carriage, listening to the sounds along the way, feeling rather uneasy.
It's sour and astringent, unbearable.
She had been traveling for an unknown amount of time. Princess Jiahua was in a daze. Her face was covered, and no one knew her identity. All that was known was that she was a woman brought from Northern Chu.
finally
A month later, the carriage arrived at the southern border of Xinjiang.
The Fifth Prince did not appear along the way, and Princess Jiahua became somewhat anxious. She sent someone to inquire and learned that the Fifth Prince had been confined to his quarters.
She was relieved, as long as no one was hurt.
Night deepened
The carriage stopped, and shouts came from the surroundings. She recognized the voices as Xiu Shu's and quickly lifted the curtain to get out of the carriage.
Xiu Shu was seen being held down by two maids, and a food box next to her, which was filled with food, had been overturned and scattered all over the floor.
Five handprints were clearly visible on Xiu Shu's fair face.
"Master, I'm fine, please get in the carriage quickly," Xiu Shu said hurriedly.
Princess Jia Hua shook her head.
"You must be the princess sent for a political marriage. You always wear your face covered and act all mysterious. How do you manage your maids? They have no manners at all and dare to offend me!"
A charming young woman emerged from the crowd, dressed in a red robe and clutching a riding whip in her hand. She sneered at Princess Jia Hua, "A defeated nation should be more discreet."
Princess Jiahua was puzzled, but judging from the man's attire, she guessed that he was no ordinary person.
"This is Princess Mu Nan."
“Princess.” Princess Jia Hua nodded gently.
Princess Mu Nan, holding her riding whip, said, "Take off your veil and let me see!"
Princess Jiahua frowned.
As she hesitated, the Seventh Prince approached. His tall, slender figure exuded a sense of oppression with just a few steps. Upon seeing him, Princess Mu Nan pouted and sweetly called out, "Cousin!"
"Cousin Nan, this is a princess sent for a political marriage. She must not be rude," the Seventh Prince said in a low voice, persuading her to leave.
The two maids also released their grip.
Princess Jia Hua bent down to help Xiu Shu up: "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Xiu Shu said, bowing her head.
Princess Jia Hua had no good feelings towards the people of Southern Xinjiang and had no intention of paying attention to this seventh prince. If it weren't for him leading the troops into battle, Northern Chu might not have been defeated.
His iron cavalry broke through the borders of Northern Chu, forcing Northern Chu to sue for peace.
"Wait a minute!"
The seventh prince bent down to pick up the handkerchief from the ground, held it up and handed it to him: "You seem to be somewhat hostile towards me. This marriage alliance is not my intention."
Princess Jia Hua turned around and took the handkerchief, frowning as she asked, "Why doesn't the Southern Frontier press its advantage and directly breach the city gates? What's the point of a peace treaty?"
The seventh prince was taken aback.
"The emperor of Southern Xinjiang has committed countless atrocities, burning, killing, and looting. His harem is overflowing with concubines, and the people of Southern Xinjiang are not necessarily living a comfortable life either. Seventh Prince, have you ever considered that you are aiding and abetting evil?" Princess Jia Hua stared intently at the Seventh Prince.
"What you're saying, young lady..." The Seventh Prince hadn't expected the other party to speak so bluntly, leaving no room for negotiation.
A gentle breeze lifted the veil covering Princess Jiahua's face, but she quickly covered it again.
"There are some things I can't explain to you clearly, but I've been entrusted to take good care of you." The Seventh Prince handed Xiu Shu a jade token: "If you encounter any difficulties, take this to the Seventh Prince's residence. My men will help you if they see it."
After a moment's hesitation, Xiu Shu immediately accepted the letter.
Whether it's good or bad, as long as someone protects her master, there are no downsides.
The Seventh Prince bowed to Princess Jia Hua, smiled, and left.
Xiu Shu watched the other person's retreating figure and muttered softly, "Master, why do I feel that this God of War isn't as terrifying as the rumors say?"
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Xiu Shu hurriedly agreed.
The two women took a break by the carriage, waiting for the driver to feed the horses some hay and let them rest. She leaned against a large tree, gazing towards the direction of Northern Chu.
I'm getting further and further away from home.
I don't know when I'll have the chance to go back.
Xiu Shu took out some dry rations and handed them over. Princess Jia Hua picked up a steamed bun. She wouldn't try to kill herself; as long as she lived, she would have a chance to go back.
After filling their stomachs, they rested for a while, listening to the sound of horns.
"The Japanese pirates are here!"
"How dare they hijack the carriage of the Seventh Prince of Southern Xinjiang!"
A group of guards roared.
But the Japanese bandits didn't seem afraid. More and more people surrounded the place. Xiu Shu stood in front of Princess Jia Hua and said warily, "Don't be afraid, my lady. I will protect you."
What followed was a fierce battle between the guards and the Japanese pirates.
Swords flashing
Bloodshed
Princess Jiahua gripped her dagger tightly as she watched two Japanese bandits rushing towards her, her face turning pale with fright.
"Hide!" The Seventh Prince suddenly appeared, blocking the two of them. He wielded a long sword and moved nimbly, killing the attacking Japanese bandits in an instant.
Half an hour later
The number of Japanese pirates did not decrease but increased.
The Seventh Prince's stamina showed no signs of waning; he killed one after another as they came, leaving a mountain of corpses on the ground. Xiu Shu tightly gripped Princess Jia Hua's sleeve.
Suddenly, several Japanese bandits appeared behind the Seventh Prince.
Princess Jia Hua drew her sword and went to meet them.
He stabbed several people.
The Seventh Prince turned to look at the Japanese pirate lying on the ground, then glanced at the calm and composed Princess Jia Hua, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.
"You know martial arts?"
Princess Jia Hua said, "Watch out ahead!"
The two worked together very well.
When it came to killing, Princess Jia Hua showed no mercy. On the contrary, she seemed to be venting her anger, her eyes bloodshot, as if she wanted to chop the assassin in front of her into mincemeat.
Reinforcements arrived quickly.
Seeing that the situation was not good, the Japanese pirates retreated while fighting.
With the danger over, Princess Jiahua threw the sword in her hand to the ground, looked down at her clothes, which were already soaked with blood.
What a pity.
The Seventh Prince stared at Princess Jia Hua's face, momentarily lost in thought.
"Master, are you alright?" Xiu Shu asked.
Princess Jia Hua shook her head, subconsciously touching her cheek and discovering that her veil was gone. She decided not to wear it anymore; she only wore the veil to prevent the people of Northern Chu from recognizing her.
Now that we're in southern Xinjiang, what else does she have to hide?
"Your skills are quite good," the Seventh Prince praised.
Princess Jia Hua squinted: "Seventh Prince, you don't really believe those people were Japanese pirates, do you?"
The seventh prince was suddenly taken aback.
