Princess Jia Hua stared intently at Prime Minister Yan, and perhaps her gaze was too sharp, which made Prime Minister Yan's scalp tingle involuntarily.
I still remember that sentence: "If I die, the entire Yan family will be buried with me!"
Prime Minister Yan swallowed hard, stopping the Southern Emperor from getting angry. He whispered a few words, which actually calmed the emperor down.
Then Prime Minister Yan bent down, softened his tone, and reached out to help Princess Jia Hua, but she avoided him with disdain.
Prime Minister Yan was not annoyed when his hand missed its target.
"Princess Jia Hua".
Princess Jia Hua raised an eyebrow.
Upon seeing this, Prime Minister Yan's lips curled into a smile: "Why should we fight to the death? I know you've always wanted to return to Northern Chu. As the saying goes, it's better to live a miserable life than to die a good death. You should think about the child. Surely you have an antidote?"
"Prime Minister..."
"Father." Empress Yan suddenly walked in, interrupting Prime Minister Yan: "I have a way to make her hand over the antidote. Why don't you hand her over to me?"
Prime Minister Yan was half-believing and half-doubting.
The Emperor of Southern Xinjiang immediately nodded.
“Prime Minister, your daughter is jealous. If I fall into her hands, my innocence is very likely to be lost. She will do anything to humiliate me. You should think carefully!” Princess Jiahua said urgently. “She is a madwoman. She is capable of anything for revenge. She doesn’t care about the life or death of the Yan family. Prime Minister Yan, are you willing to gamble?”
Empress Yan squinted at Princess Jia Hua.
Prime Minister Yan's expression changed slightly as he looked at Empress Yan warily: "Your Majesty, this Princess Jiahua has a fiery temper. Now is not the time to cause trouble. We should prioritize the overall situation."
"Father doesn't trust me?" Empress Yan's eyes showed a hint of surprise: "Just because of an outsider, he's trying to sow discord between us, a father-daughter relationship that's lasted for over twenty years?"
"How could that be?" Prime Minister Yan shook his head, but still had some reservations, so he said, "Why don't you take the person to the side hall for questioning?"
Empress Yan's brows were furrowed.
"Fool!" Princess Jia Hua glanced at Prime Minister Yan, making him so angry that his face turned red. He slapped Princess Jia Hua across the cheek without any hesitation: "I have tolerated you for too long!"
"Report!!"
Outside the palace, a guard rushed in to report: "Your Majesty, the Prefect of the Capital has led his troops to open the two northwest city gates, and two vanguard teams have already rushed in."
As soon as he finished speaking, the expressions of the three people present changed.
Princess Jia Hua turned her head to look at the Emperor of Southern Xinjiang: "After all, the Emperor and His Highness are father and son, and blood is thicker than water. As long as the Emperor shifts the blame to someone else, His Highness will certainly not hold it against him."
"Your Majesty, she is instigating you to buy time!" Empress Yan raised her chin, her tone grave: "As long as we have her in our hands, the Seventh Prince will definitely compromise. I grew up with the Seventh Prince and know his character best. He will never watch her die."
The Southern Frontier Emperor was caught in a dilemma.
"Three years ago, if I hadn't stopped him, the seventh prince would have already usurped the throne." Empress Yan continued persuasively, "Your Majesty, this is your last chance to control the seventh prince. You must not compromise. Even if you fail, you will still be the retired emperor, and the seventh prince will not dare to commit regicide! You will then be able to secure your throne."
The Southern Emperor's eyes wavered slightly.
Princess Jia Hua's heart sank. Empress Yan was indeed clever; she had spoken to the Southern Emperor's heart in just a few words.
The Southern Emperor stared intently at Princess Jia Hua, his gaze intensely fervent.
"The Empress is right. The Seventh Prince is my son, and I only have one chance to control him." The Emperor of Southern Xinjiang took a deep breath and handed Princess Jia Hua over to Empress Yan with a wave of his hand.
Prime Minister Yan grew anxious: "Your Majesty..."
"Father, are you senile? How dare you disobey the Emperor's decree!" Empress Yan looked at Prime Minister Yan with displeasure.
Prime Minister Yan moved his lips, but ultimately said nothing more, allowing the palace maids beside Empress Yan to gag Princess Jia Hua and drag her away.
As soon as the man left, Prime Minister Yan's eyelids twitched violently: "Your Majesty, the two city gates in the northwest have been opened, and there are still many of the Seventh Prince's subordinates in Jincheng. We must be prepared for defense."
"Have Vice Generals Zhou and Chen escort them to the palace gate. If the Seventh Prince's men arrive, cut off the hands of both vice generals," the Southern Frontier Emperor ordered.
Prime Minister Yan frowned and agreed.
I always feel that many things are beyond my control.
"Summon all civil and military officials to the palace immediately," the Emperor of Southern Xinjiang ordered.
Prime Minister Yan's eyelids twitched.
"Summon all people to the palace again."
"emperor……"
"If the seventh prince dares to force his way in, I will execute all the officials and slaughter countless people!" the Southern Frontier Emperor roared.
Prime Minister Yan's knees went weak, and his vision blurred, almost causing him to lose his balance. He opened his mouth to say a few words of advice, but met the gloomy eyes of the Southern Frontier Emperor.
Helpless, he had no choice but to swallow all his words of advice.
Side Hall
Empress Yan sat on the high seat, one hand lazily resting on the table, her fingertips lightly tapping the surface. Her face seemed calm, but the rapid and disordered tapping betrayed her inner impatience.
With a single glance from Empress Yan, the palace maids withdrew.
The palace was quiet. Princess Jiahua sat on the ground, calmly watching Empress Yan.
"Zhao Jiahua, you are very clever. You have repeatedly disrupted my plans and put me in a precarious position."
Princess Jia Hua smiled fearlessly.
"How about I let you leave? Once you're gone, the Seventh Prince's ambitions will be dead. I will persuade the Emperor to bestow upon him the title of Prince and send him away from Jincheng. He holds military power, and the Emperor won't be able to do anything to him." Empress Yan's face showed no hatred, only helplessness.
"Over the years, you are the first to see through my thoughts. If I hadn't entered the palace back then, your position would have been mine." Empress Yan smiled bitterly, tears streaming down her cheeks. She quickly took a handkerchief and gently wiped the corners of her eyes. "Jiahua, I envy you very much."
