Chapter 270 Choice

“Your Highness, General Zuo is right, and I also suggest going to the palace.”

"Your Highness, do you really not care about the life and death of the Seventh Prince's Consort?" The guard tried to threaten him again, but was killed by General Zuo with a single sword stroke.

Blood splattered everywhere. The guard stared in horror, his eyes wide, and before he could react, he breathed his last.

The Left General cut off the guard's head and handed it to another messenger; "Give this to the Empress and tell her that if she dares to lay a finger on the Seventh Prince's Consort again, she will not be spared!"

The guard accepted it with trepidation and scrambled away.

General Zuo then looked at the Seventh Prince: "Your Highness should take a good look. The blood on the Seventh Prince's Consort's left hand has congealed, and the color is off. Also, examine the wound. If it was injured before or after death..."

"Enough!" The Seventh Prince raised his voice, interrupting General Zuo, his face cold: "I will not enter the city until the appointed time."

General Zuo hesitated, then sighed and shook his head helplessly: "It's a pity that the Seventh Prince's Consort risked her life."

He suddenly felt a sense of resentment and regret.

Princess Jiahua closed her eyes, feeling a mix of emotions. She could have entered the palace with just a word from him.

With just a few words, those people can be redeemed.

That position is his; no one can take it away from him.

However, the seventh prince was somewhat stubborn and refused to sit in that position without proper justification.

She shouldn't have expected the Seventh Prince to avenge her.

Hatred gradually swept over his heart.

For a fleeting moment, she felt that the Seventh Prince was not worth all the arrangements she had made.

Another hour passed.

Princess Jia Hua saw that her right hand had also disappeared.

She smiled bitterly, wishing she could disappear entirely.

Sure enough, another brocade box arrived, this time for the right hand.

The Seventh Prince glanced at the hand and immediately recognized it as Princess Jia Hua's. With a snap, he closed the brocade box. His face was cold, and he managed to utter two words with great difficulty: "Leave the city!"

General Zuo and Changwei were shocked: "Your Highness, this is absolutely not allowed!"

The two knelt on the ground.

Changwei said, "Your Highness, you should think it over carefully. Once you leave the city, it won't make up for the fact that you led troops into the city today."

"Your Highness, do you really want to watch countless people suffer the death penalty of having their homes confiscated and their families exterminated?"

The Seventh Prince shook his head: "That's not what I meant. If I enter the palace alone and do not come out within two hours, the two of you should support the Sixth Prince to ascend the throne."

"Your Highness!"

"My mind is made up."

The Seventh Prince took out his token and ordered the Left General: "Lead the troops out of the city immediately."

General Zuo gritted his teeth so hard they almost broke, his whole body trembling, before finally letting out a helpless sigh: "This subordinate obeys the order."

The seventh prince entered the palace with more than a dozen people.

They marched straight into the main hall, and the first thing they saw was the Emperor of Southern Xinjiang, sitting on the dragon throne in a bright yellow dragon robe, his face calm, as if he had long been certain that the Emperor would come.

Not far away, Prime Minister Yan rushed over, his eyes wide with disbelief that the person he was seeing was actually the Seventh Prince.

"You unfilial son, kneel down now!" the Southern Emperor roared. "I entrusted you with military power because I trusted you, but you show no respect for me whatsoever, daring to disobey and imprison me. You deserve to die!"

The Seventh Prince's expression changed slightly, and he placed one hand on the longsword at his waist: "Where is Jia Hua?"

"How dare you question me!" the Southern Frontier Emperor roared again, "Guards, seize this traitor!"

Prime Minister Yan grew anxious: "Your Majesty, please calm down."

Although the Seventh Prince had entered the palace, the army was still outside the city. Prime Minister Yan hurriedly came to the Seventh Prince's side: "Your Highness, the blood between you and the Emperor is thicker than water. There is no deep-seated hatred between father and son. Just admit your mistake and maybe the Emperor will release the man because of your great military achievements."

"This old minister will also privately advise His Majesty to grant you the title of king as soon as possible, so that you two can leave Jincheng."

"Prime Minister Yan, I don't have much time left."

Prime Minister Yan frowned: "What does Your Highness mean?"

“If I do not leave the palace before nightfall, General Zuo will lead his troops into the city and the palace. At that time, it will be difficult to predict whether you will live or die.”

The Seventh Prince looked at Prime Minister Yan with a serious expression: "I would never lie. I did not care about life or death when I entered the palace today. I may not lay a hand on General Zuo, but he may not."

"You!" Prime Minister Yan choked with emotion.

For a moment, I felt a bit helpless. How did I end up with these two fearless people?

If the Seventh Prince is soft-hearted and easy to talk to, then General Zuo is the exact opposite; he's a complete madman who's capable of anything.

This person is completely unreasonable.

He was a ruthless killer on the battlefield, and when he got angry, he wouldn't listen to anyone except the Seventh Prince.

"Is Your Highness truly willing to relinquish the throne?" Prime Minister Yan asked, unwilling to give up.

The Seventh Prince glanced at Prime Minister Yan with a mocking smile.

Prime Minister Yan was completely speechless. If he really wanted the throne, he would have taken it three years ago. Why wait until today?

Of all the princes, he was the only one who didn't care about power or status at all.

In the past, the first thing to do upon returning from a war was to relinquish military control.

It was as if holding onto military power for even a moment longer would be like holding a hot potato.

"Prime Minister Yan, why are you arguing with him? With the Seventh Prince in our hands, why are you afraid that General Zuo will not obey?" the Southern Frontier Emperor said angrily.

Prime Minister Yan shared the same doubts.

"Father insists on testing General Zuo's abilities; please do as you please." The Seventh Prince, not wanting to waste any more words with the Southern Frontier Emperor, turned to Prime Minister Yan: "Where exactly is Jia Hua!"

"A-Yin!"

Empress Yan's voice came from behind, filled with surprise and joy, and she smiled slightly: "A-Yin, you've finally come."

The Seventh Prince looked up at Empress Yan, his eyes filled with clarity and disgust: "Where is Jia Hua?"

Empress Yan said aggrievedly, "Is Zhao Jiahua the only person in your heart?"

"yes!"

Empress Yan felt a sharp pain in her heart as she listened to his resolute nod. Her face turned pale, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She pressed her red lips together and clutched her chest: "You killed my elder brother for her. He was my brother who grew up with me, the one you called brother so often. How could you be so heartless?"

The seventh prince frowned.
