Chapter 283 Recovering

The rain in Liang County had not yet stopped, and the sound of thunder still filled the air. A bolt of lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, turning the entire sky into daylight, only to plunge it back into darkness in an instant.

"Embroidered book".

Princess Jiahua looked out the window at the lightning and thunder, feeling uneasy.

Xiu Shu was on the couch next to him. Hearing the noise, she immediately got up and asked, "Does Master have any orders?"

"I always feel uneasy."

“Master, you haven’t been back for thirteen years. Perhaps you’ve been too nervous and anxious.”

Princess Jia Hua kept reassuring herself that she had done right by the Seventh Prince and had even set a trap for him before leaving, so that even if she didn't become emperor, she wouldn't suffer the same fate as in her previous life.

Therefore, the Seventh Prince had no reason not to let him leave.

Her words were already quite clear.

But she couldn't find peace until she was in Northern Chu.

I tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.

More guests gradually checked into the post station, which immediately became lively since it was not very big. Princess Jiahua became more cautious.

The carriage she rode in along the way was ordinary, and her clothes were those of an ordinary woman. She didn't even wear a hairpin in her hair, and there was nothing of value in her bundle, only dry food, a change of clothes, and a few silver notes.

She had deliberately smeared her face with black to conceal her original appearance, and so had Xiu Shu. The two of them looked like ordinary women standing together.

Even General Zuo changed his clothes, painted a beard on his chin, wore wrinkled clothes, wore a blue hat on his head, and had a cleaver at his waist.

No one who sees this would think it's a battlefield, but rather the majestic and awe-inspiring General Zuo!

Princess Jia Hua glanced through the window at the person who had entered, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that there was nothing suspicious.

“Master, you’re being too cautious,” Xiu Shu comforted her.

Princess Jia Hua pursed her lips: "I don't want to wait another thirteen years. I have to be careful."

Upon hearing this, Xiu Shu also put away her joking thoughts and became serious.

I ate lunch in a hurry

A commotion could be faintly heard coming from downstairs.

Xiu Shu said, "Someone got drunk and caused trouble, and a fight broke out."

At this moment, General Zuo knocked on the door, and Princess Jia Hua looked over and said, "Brother, please come in."

After entering, General Zuo closed the door again, frowning as he said, "Some news has come from Jincheng."

Princess Jia Hua's eyelids twitched even more violently: "What news?"

"After His Highness returned to the city, he did not punish Huo Xi for his escape. Instead, he imprisoned the Third Prince's wife."

General Zuo was puzzled. What had the Third Prince's wife done to offend him?

Princess Jia Hua gritted her teeth, steadied herself, stood up, and looked at General Zuo: "Brother, even after a thousand miles of escorting you, we must eventually part ways. Why don't we say goodbye here in Liang County?"

"Sister, what does this mean?"

“If Your Highness needs an elder brother, Xiu Shu and I can return to Northern Chu.”

“How can that be? I promised His Highness I would escort you back to Northern Chu. The journey is fraught with danger, how can I let you travel alone?” General Zuo was worried.

Princess Jia Hua insisted, "Brother, do you think that with my intelligence, my skill in embroidery and martial arts, we two can be bullied?"

Under Princess Jia Hua's repeated insistence, General Zuo had no choice but to compromise. He bowed and bid farewell to Princess Jia Hua. Before leaving, Princess Jia Hua said, "If one day you find something unacceptable, it is not your fault. You can live a different life."

General Zuo nodded in agreement.

Once she had an idea, Princess Jiahua didn't want to wait a moment longer. She quickly packed her luggage, put on a raincoat, and set off with her embroidered book.

The mountain road was muddy, but fortunately Xiu Shu could drive a horse-drawn carriage. Although the journey was slow, at least we were getting further and further away from the post station.

Two hours later

As instructed by Princess Jia Hua, the carriage entered the city. The two of them were already soaked to the bone, but she didn't care. She went to the market and bought several more carriages, sending them all heading north at the same time.

"Master, what does this mean?"

Princess Jia Hua rubbed her temples: "At this critical juncture, the Third Prince's wife should have been sent to her fiefdom. And the Huo family, Huo Xi defied the imperial decree to return to Jin, the Huo family secretly hid a passage, and troops from a vassal state were discovered in Yuncheng. No matter which one it is, the Second Prince will be involved, but the Second Prince is safe and sound in Jincheng."

There's only one reason then.

The Seventh Prince has been deceived again.

If her guess was correct, Empress Yan would definitely frame her and send people to bring her back.

General Zuo was too upright.

She didn't want to implicate General Zuo, especially since General Zuo was very easy to expose at the border, and following him would be dangerous.

He has now broken away from General Zuo.

The rest was up to them to return to Northern Chu. She found a topographical map, and looking at the two characters "Northern Chu" marked on the map, her eyes reddened.

She absolutely has to go back!

At all costs.

“Both of these are unavoidable routes, but we can bypass them.” Princess Jia Hua pointed to another, more remote and circuitous route that happened to pass through the vassal state.

This journey took two whole months longer than expected to get back.

But it is relatively safe.

"Go this way."

Xiu Shu nodded: "As you wish, Master."

“From today onwards, you don’t need to call her ‘Master.’ It’s too strange for us to call her ‘Master’ in our current attire. Just call her ‘Sister.’”

"Yes, elder sister."

Princess Jiahua and Xiushu changed their clothes again, dressing as men. To conceal their height, they deliberately added several layers of padding to their shoes.

The two agreed on one thing: they were looking for their relatives.

The names of relatives and where they used to live are all arranged in advance.

Princess Jia Hua was finally relieved.
