The doors of Yuehua Pavilion finally opened.
When Song Huan peeked out, she saw a row of people kneeling in a row, including Yuan Fuling, her brother, and her second sister. She was startled.
It pulled its neck back and ran inward.
"Third sister, am I seeing things? Why do I see eldest brother and second sister kneeling outside, their faces pale?" Song Huan didn't know what had happened during the day and just found it strange.
The eldest brother and second sister are usually so arrogant, why would they kneel outside?
Song Yue was holding a piece of fruit. She took a bite, but before she could say anything, Song Huan dragged her to the door.
"Look!"
Hearing the noise, the person outside the door looked up at the two of them.
Song Hengchuan's gaze fell on Song Yue, a fleeting hint of jealousy flashing in his eyes, but he quickly replaced it with shame: "Third sister, I...I want to see Mother."
Third sister?
Song Yue found it somewhat amusing, and looked up at the sky: "It's really strange, how come the sun is rising in the west?"
Embarrassed by Song Yue, Song Hengchuan looked embarrassed.
"Third sister, forgive and forget. Why do this? We truly know we were wrong." Song Yao looked at Song Yue with jealousy.
After a few days apart, Song Yue seemed like a completely different person. She was dressed in the latest style of brocade and fine clothes, and the red hairpins in her hair were so dazzling that they made it hard to open her eyes. Her sallow and thin face had become fuller, and even her skin had become much fairer. Her eyebrows and eyes were delicate, and she was much better than when she first entered the manor.
Throughout the Duke's mansion, Song Yao was always very confident in her appearance, even considering the entire capital city to be impeccable.
But today, in front of Song Yue, she felt a sense of defeat, as if she had been outdone.
She was elegant and graceful, charming and beautiful, and exuded an innate nobility. Song Yao felt a little uncomfortable looking at her.
If she were the princess's biological daughter, she would definitely be more outstanding than Song Yue.
"What did you do wrong?" Song Huan blinked and asked innocently.
Song Yao glared at Song Huan, annoyed: "I'm talking to my third sister, you have no right to speak."
Song Huan pouted.
"I'm curious too, what went wrong?" Song Yue raised her chin slightly: "Do you admit that you pretended to be sick yesterday and forced the Duke and Song Hengchuan to stay?"
Song Yao was speechless.
"It's me, it's me. It has nothing to do with Yao-jie. I'll take the punishment myself if you want to hit or punish me." Yuan Fuling spoke up in time, protecting Song Yao behind her.
Song Hengchuan, holding his breath, looked at Song Yue impatiently: "Go and announce that I want to see my mother."
“Isn’t your mother kneeling right next to you?” Song Yue retorted.
Song Hengchuan's expression changed slightly. Too lazy to argue with Song Yue anymore, he said irritably, "Are you going to pass it on or not?"
Song Yue looked down at him, and even at this point, he still dared to be stubborn. I really don't know who gave him such confidence.
"Big brother, don't hold a grudge against third sister because of me," Song Yao whispered.
Helpless, Song Hengchuan had no choice but to soften his tone: "Third sister, there is a misunderstanding between my mother and me. I would like to explain it to her. Please pass on the message."
Song Yue's response was to have the door slammed shut.
With a deafening crash!
Song Hengchuan stared at the tightly closed door, stunned for a moment, then gritted his teeth, furious. He tried to rush over several times, but Yuan Fuling held him back: "Young Master, you must not let all your efforts be in vain."
So Song Hengchuan forced himself to kneel down again.
This kneeling lasted for three days and three nights.
Princess Jia Hua didn't even show her face.
In the end, it was the seriously injured Duke Jingguo who personally came to Yuehua Pavilion, and the tightly closed door was reopened. When the maid went to report, Xiushu stopped her, as if she already knew that Duke Jingguo would come, and personally led her into the door.
"Where is the princess?" Duke Jingguo asked, his face pale.
Xiu Shu pointed towards the pavilion and sure enough, she saw a figure in crimson sitting there, holding a book in her hands. From the side, Princess Jia Hua's temperament had become more gentle and graceful.
As she drew closer, Xiu Shu whispered a reminder.
Princess Jia Hua had just put down her book when she looked up and glanced sideways at the person who had come in. Her sharp gaze sent a chill down the spine of the Duke of Jingguo.
Even the wound hurts.
He steeled himself and stepped forward, clearing his throat: "Princess, let's get a divorce. I am not worthy of you."
"Divorce?" Princess Jiahua seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world. She had considered divorce before she returned.
But some things are not yet finished, how could she give up so easily?
Princess Jia Hua scoffed, "I can only be widowed!"
Duke Jingguo was taken aback, his face contorted with anger: "I know the princess is angry, what do you want from me to let this go?"
He has already been punished.
"A-Yue was almost burned to death in the villa, how did you manage to save her?" Princess Jiahua questioned, her heart trembling at the thought.
How could you bear to hurt such an obedient and adorable daughter?
The Duke of Jingguo's anger was exposed, and he softened instantly. He was somewhat helpless. Then Princess Jiahua questioned him again: "When Ayue returned to the manor, she was targeted several times. As her father, did you ever defend her even once? Song Kaifeng, I am telling you clearly today that if you make a mistake, you must bear the consequences."
Duke Jingguo suddenly raised his head and looked at Princess Jiahua seriously: "Princess, have you ever thought that one day when Yue'er finds out about your past, and Yue'er's reputation is implicated, will the Zhennan Prince's Mansion look down on Yue'er?"
As soon as Song Yue was involved, Princess Jia Hua's anger surged uncontrollably. Before she could speak, Song Yue appeared before her without her noticing, looking calmly at the Duke of Jing.
That look in his eyes was one of disdain and sarcasm.
This infuriated the Duke of Jingguo. How dare she stare at him like that when she was his own daughter?
A blatant provocation!
But in front of Princess Jiahua, the Duke of Jingguo had no choice but to swallow his humiliation. He softened his temper and said, "Yue'er, the Princess Consort of Zhennan is a picky person. If you ruin your family's reputation, won't you suffer if you marry into the family? You can't always rely on your mother, can you?"
This was the first time the Duke of Jingguo had spoken to Song Yue in such a humble manner.
Song Yue pursed her lips; she really wanted to say that she didn't care about Pei Zhao at all.
She wanted to call off the marriage.
She glanced at Princess Jia Hua.
"You scoundrel! Why are you scaring her? What does she know?" Princess Jiahua scolded her angrily, reaching out to pull Song Yue into her arms. If it weren't for Song Yue's sake, she wouldn't have simply cut off a hand a few days ago.
Princess Jia Hua finally relented: "Send the people at the gate back. From now on, they should follow the rules and stop getting in my way!"
Xiu Shu nodded.
Seeing that he had the upper hand, the Duke of Jingguo took out a stack of silver notes from his pocket: "These are compensation for Yue'er, and also a small token of my appreciation as her father."
At a glance, the silver note appears to be worth at least 20,000 taels of silver.
The fact that the Duke of Jingguo could produce silver notes at this critical juncture is enough to show that he was truly at his wit's end and had no other choice.
Song Yue curtsied: "Thank you, Your Excellency."
He refused to call out "Father" again.
Duke Jingguo didn't expect the mother and daughter to calm down so easily. He gave a faint "hmm," got up, and left. Watching Duke Jingguo's hunched back, Song Yue only had two words in her mind: Serves him right!
