Chapter 79 Confronting the Princess

Before Princess Jiahua returned to her residence, she had heard about the commotion at the entrance of the Duke of Jingguo's mansion. Xiushu was in a hurry to go back, worried that the Third Miss might suffer a loss.

Princess Jia Hua smiled with relief and turned to have the carriage go to the restaurant: "A Yue is not a soft-hearted person. I can't protect her all the time. Let's go listen to some music."

Many people from the Duke of Jingguo's mansion went to the Prince of Qing's mansion to ask for help. The steward reported back again and again, and when the news reached the ears of the Princess of Qing, she was so angry that she could hardly breathe.

"Like mother, like son! This wild girl is just like her mother!"

With more and more people gathering outside, Princess Qing could no longer pretend to be deaf and dumb. She quickly tidied herself up and took a sedan chair to the front of the Duke of Jing's mansion.

"Princess Qing has arrived!" someone shouted from the crowd.

Everyone's attention shifted.

The sedan chair landed, the curtain was lifted, and two maids helped Princess Qing walk over. Princess Qing's face was ashen, her body was thin and weak, and she leaned weakly on the maids' shoulders. She was panting heavily after walking a few steps, as if she was about to collapse at any moment.

"Why is Princess Qing so ill?"

"This isn't an illness, it's an injury. The Emperor himself came to the Duke of Jing's residence that day to support the princess. He's the Emperor's elder, so how could he be so cruel?"

"In front of the princess, the emperor was unbelievably obedient, not at all like a ruler of a country."

Hearing the whispers, Princess Qing held her handkerchief, lowered her eyes, and coughed softly, barely able to speak: "Third, Third Miss."

Song Yue frowned.

The next second, Princess Qing actually knelt down in front of Song Yue.

"Oh!" Song Huan was so startled that she quickly pulled Song Yue aside to avoid the bow.

Princess Qing raised her head: "Third Miss, please calm down. I have spoiled Qingyan. She should not have offended you. Now she is seriously injured and her appearance is ruined. She is living a life worse than death. As long as you are willing to forgive Qingyan, I am willing to atone with my death."

"It's outrageous that the Princess Consort of Qing would kneel down and thank Miss Song."

The dissent from the crowd reached its peak.

Seeing that things were not going well, Song Yao retreated repeatedly, bumping her back into Song Hengchuan. The two looked at each other and Song Yao said, "Big brother, my heart hurts."

"I'll help you back." Song Hengchuan helped Song Yao slowly back away.

Seeing this, Song Huan stomped her foot, furious. These two cowards had actually run away like that. She really shouldn't have had too much hope for them.

Suddenly, a commotion arose from the crowd.

Everyone gasped.

Song Huan turned around quickly and saw Song Yue remove the veil covering her face in front of everyone, revealing a scar running across her face, except for her eyes.

“Zhao Qingyan truly deserves to die. She bullied everyone from the moment she arrived in the capital, showing no respect even to me, the legitimate daughter of a princess. Who knows how arrogant and domineering she must be in private.” Song Yue raised her chin, pointing to the scar on her face. “Now Zhao Qingyan is disfigured but has secured a good marriage. No matter how you look at it, this is a win-win situation. I was raised in a separate courtyard for thirteen years, enduring countless hardships. My mother pities me so much, yet you forced me to commit mass murder in public. Now I’m being forced to confess. What kind of logic is this?”

Princess Qing frowned, not expecting Song Yue to be so quick-witted.

“Princess Qing, I would like to ask you a question: why did you bring so many guards to cause trouble? Did you anticipate the Emperor’s visit to my grandmother that day, and do this on purpose? Today, you have instigated so many family members to cause trouble. Is your ultimate goal to tarnish the Emperor’s reputation, to make all the civil and military officials, the people of the city, and even the entire Northern Chu think that the Emperor cannot distinguish right from wrong, and to confuse right and wrong so that the Emperor will be caught up in rumors and lose the support of the people?”

Song Yue stared intently at Princess Qing, the chilling aura in her eyes sending a sense of foreboding down one's spine.

"What kind of talk is this? How could I dare to disrespect the Emperor? Third Miss, you've wronged someone!" Princess Qing cried out, clutching her chest, but a fleeting look of guilt crossed her face.

Making trouble at the Duke of Jingguo's mansion was secondary; the most important thing was to let everyone know that the Northern Chu Emperor harbored illicit intentions towards Princess Jiahua.

This caused the Northern Chu emperor to lose the hearts of the people, and he took the opportunity to win over some powerful ministers.

She never expected that Song Yue had seen through her.

"The Emperor only visited the Duke of Jing's residence for half an hour that day and never ordered the Princess Consort of Qing to be severely punished. He only reprimanded you for not teaching your daughter well. Why did the Princess Consort of Qing look so sickly?" Song Yue bluntly revealed the truth.

These days, she has been following Princess Jia Hua and has learned a skill: when the other party is shameless and vague, there is no need to be polite in exposing them.

As for reputation, the more you care about it, the more constrained you become.

Princess Jia Hua meant that at worst, they could leave the capital and find a place with mountains and water to live a carefree life.

Suddenly, Song Yue bent down and grabbed Princess Qing's wrist. Princess Qing reacted quickly: "What are you doing, Third Miss?"

“The pulse of the Prince Qing’s wife is strong and healthy…wait, what’s this on her face?” Song Yue casually wiped the Prince Qing’s wife’s face, raised it high, and there was a pinkish-white mark on her fingertip.

Laughter erupted from the crowd.

"How could a princess use such low-class methods to frame a young girl? It's beneath her dignity."

"If a daughter throws a tantrum in public, how can the mother be any better?"

Being ridiculed, Princess Qing felt her heart pounding and wished she could faint. She stared intently at Song Yue: "Third Miss, you have been in the villa for thirteen years and claim to have suffered all kinds of hardships. How could you possibly know medicine? Third, Third Miss, you are making things difficult for me just because you have your mother backing you up."

Song Yue explained, "Every day at the villa, I would go up the mountain to collect and dry herbs. Over time, I learned to take pulses. I can't cure diseases, but I can tell whether a person's pulse is strong and healthy or weak and terminal. If Princess Qing thinks I'm talking nonsense, why don't you ask the imperial physician to come and take a look?"
