Chapter 6

Before Chu Yan could voice his doubts, he was bombarded with something even more explosive.

The journey to Black Hawk Mountain is fraught with danger. Bringing a weapon for self-defense is understandable, but what about carrying a bundle?

What are we going to do?

Before he could speak, Chu Jinjin made a shushing gesture, then pointed ahead and raised her voice, "Big brother, wasn't my performance alright?"

If Chu Yan couldn't even see such an obvious hint, he would be a fool. He nodded calmly, "Third Sister is right."

Then he delivered an extraordinary performance: "Third sister, don't be afraid, your big brother is here for you."

Chu Jinjin gave him an approving look.

After exchanging a few words, Chu Jinjin silently mouthed, "Who is the coachman?"

In the apocalypse, zombies can pounce at any time, and even more terrifying are their own kind hiding in the shadows.

Over time, they become particularly sensitive to danger.

The driver was in his thirties, in his prime, with a strong build, and clearly skilled in martial arts.

As soon as Chu Jinjin stepped out, she noticed a fleeting glance from him.

Chu Yan also communicated silently: "Wang Da."

Wang Da was a servant born into the family of He Shi, the mother of his third brother. He had been with He Shi since childhood, and after coming to the Chu family, he naturally became a member of the Chu family. Because he was skilled in martial arts and was a close friend of He Shi, he was asked to drive the car this time.

Chu Yan said in a low voice, "Could it be the He family?"

If there really was an inside traitor, his prime suspect would be the He family.

After their father's accident, the first person who could take over the family business was him, and then his second younger brother from the same mother.

The second brother is of course not; no matter who is in power, they are still brothers.

The third son of the He family, born out of wedlock, was cunning from a young age.

Chu Jinjin neither agreed nor disagreed.

He was certainly a suspect, as she had even extended her reach to her mother.

However, she no longer doubted Chu Yan, for a simple reason: his intelligence was clearly lacking.

However, the possibility that Wang arranged it behind her son's back cannot be ruled out.

The carriage left the capital, the bustling city faded away, and the spring sunshine of March stretched as far as the eye could see, a pale, tender green.

No maids were assigned to Chu Jinjin for this trip; all the servants were guards and servants from the manor.

After traveling for about half an hour, the carriage suddenly stopped.

Chu Jinjin poked her head out: "What's wrong?"

Wang Da frowned: "There seems to be something wrong with the horse."

The big black horse, which had just been fed concentrated feed last night and could normally run eighty miles in one go, was now listless, with white foam at the corners of its mouth, and looked weak and powerless.

Chu Jinjin made a gesture to get out of the car without making a sound: "Help me to sit down over there."

This must have been arranged well in advance.

There's no guarantee there aren't other accomplices; we can't alert them.

Wang Da was stunned for a moment, and wanted to call out to others, but Chu Jinjin jumped out of the car first and walked straight ahead.

The official road was lined with trees that grew naturally and freely.

Wang Da followed for a while, thinking that Chu Jinjin probably needed to use the restroom or something. But as he realized that she was getting further and further away, he was about to speak when suddenly his vision blurred, and then he felt something cold on his neck.

Wang Da: "......."

A cold sweat instantly broke out on his back.

The Third Miss actually knows martial arts?

Everything happened too fast; there wasn't even time to react, let alone dodge.

The dagger was pressed against his throat; with just a slight stab, he would bleed profusely.

Wang Da's neck broke out in goosebumps: "Third Miss, what are you going to do?"

Chu Jinjin's voice was colder than a knife: "Raise your hand."

Wang Dada slowly raised his hand, still wanting to explain, "Third Miss, don't be silly, be careful not to hurt your hand."

He didn't think he had done anything wrong; he hadn't done anything since he left the house.

At this moment, Chu Yan also arrived. He stared blankly at the scene for a while. He had thought about what was going to happen, but when he actually saw it, he still couldn't accept it.

That's Wang Da! He could easily take on two or three men by himself. How could he be so easily subdued?

Chu Jinjin said impatiently in a low voice, "What are you standing there for? Tie him up."

Chu Yan nodded vigorously, subconsciously.

After tying the man up, he said angrily, "Wang Da, my Chu family has treated you well, yet you dare to collude with robbers to harm my father. Have you lost your conscience?"

Wang Da stared blankly at him: "Young Master, what are you saying? How could I possibly collude with robbers?"

Chu Yan clenched his fist: "Didn't you tamper with the horses?"

He didn't trust anyone to help him rescue his father, so he handled everything personally, including the horses.

She was perfectly fine last night; she couldn't have gotten sick for no reason.

Just as Chu Yan was about to press further, he saw Chu Jinjin raise a dagger, and then, Wang Da's thigh spurted out a stream of blood.

Chu Yan: "......."

He really wanted to ask, was this really his third sister?

Chu Jinjin prefers action to words.

Wang Da was a ruthless man. Even with a knife stabbing his thigh and blood gushing out, he only let out a muffled groan.

"I didn't realize you had such a tough bone." Chu Jinjin was very experienced and gently reminded him, "I'll count to three. If you still don't say anything, I'll hurt your tough bone."

Her thighs were fleshy, and although the cut splattered blood, it seemed to have penetrated deeply but had not damaged any bones or tendons.

Wang Datong's forehead was covered in cold sweat: "Third Miss, what do you want me to say?"

Chu Jinjin looked at him thoughtfully for a moment, then suddenly turned her head and asked, "Brother, does he have a wife and children?"

She has many ways to get someone to talk, but she only uses the most efficient methods.

Chu Yan hadn't fully recovered from the shock and subconsciously replied, "His wife is He's personal maid, and they have a son and a daughter."

Chu Jinjin clapped her hands and stood up, coldly saying, "Send someone back to tell them that if the adults are still good-looking, sell them to a dark alley and beat the children to death."
