Chapter 88

"Really?" The aunt finally got the answer she wanted; yes, that was exactly what she was worried about.

Her distant relative used to be the leader of a mountain stronghold. He was probably beaten up when he was a kid, a natural-born bandit who could take on ten people by himself. But now, he's been thoroughly subdued.

Meanwhile, dozens of miles away in the Black Household Village, Ji Huaiyu looked utterly desperate.

He really wanted to die; maybe this was retribution.

"Husband, why are you crying? It breaks my heart to see you like this." On this joyous day, Li Dahua wore a bright red wedding dress, looking like a giant flower. She was so tall that she had to duck when she went out, otherwise she would bump into the door frame. When Chu Jiyu stood up straight, his head only reached her chest.

Not only tall, but also strong, with a body as wide as a door panel.

Chu Jiyu turned his head away with a look of disgust.

How could there be such a terrifying woman in this world!

"Husband, do I look pretty today?" Li Dahua didn't care about his reaction at all. She spun around with a silly smile, stirring up a gust of wind. She chuckled triumphantly, "Husband, do you prefer a boy or a girl? I prefer a girl, someone who looks like me. Hehe, when she grows up, how about we make her the chieftain? Then we'll help her snatch a handsome husband like you."

Chu Jiyu: "......."

Maybe I should just die.

When he was first arrested, Chu Jiyu thought about dying more than once, but if he died, he could never atone for his sins in this lifetime.

His family didn't know he had been kidnapped and brought here, and even if they did, there was nothing they could do to save him.

Unless, unless Chu Jinjin.......

In the letters his mother wrote to him, she mentioned Chu Jinjin countless times. He felt that his mother might have mental problems. How could that be? He had seen her before. She was just an ordinary woman. How could she suddenly become a master overnight?

What if it's true?

Will he come to save me?

He is not in immediate danger; the greatest danger comes tonight!

Li Dahua liked him so much that she kept nagging him that the wedding ceremony could only take place after they were married.

"Wife, please stop spinning around. I have a few words to say." Chu Jiyu suddenly had an idea. Li Dahua was fierce, but she clearly had mental problems. He tried hard to soften his voice.

As he expected, Li Dahua blushed with embarrassment and covered her face, saying, "Husband, you're calling me wife."

"I'll call you that every day and every night from now on, because you are my wife." Chu Jiyu had certainly experienced romantic encounters and knew how to please a woman, but he was so shocked by reality that he lost his composure. He slowly calmed down and said, "Look, on our wedding day, I haven't even given you a betrothal gift. I'm so sorry."

Li Dahua started biting her nails, looking troubled: "Yes, a man should give a woman a betrothal gift, but husband, you don't have any money."

Chu Jiyu had used most of his money to buy grain, but before he could sell it, he was kidnapped. The small amount he had left was left with the butcher.

"I don't have the money to give my wife a betrothal gift, but I can do it in another way." Chu Jiyu was from the Chu family and had some brains. Besides, he was good at dealing with a fool. He reached out and gently stroked Li Dahua's strong arm and said softly, "In my hometown of the capital, it is customary for men to give women flowers on their wedding day. Your name contains the character for flower, so it can't be verified."

Li Dahua had never experienced such treatment before. Her usually slow-witted mind immediately went blank. She was overjoyed and clapped her hands, saying, "Great! Great! Then husband, give your wife flowers. I love flowers!"

Chu Jiyu hinted, "Does my wife know where there are flowers?"

Li Dahua nodded vigorously: "I know, there's a place in the mountains outside with lots and lots of them."

Chu Jiyu was waiting for these words: "Then you stay here and wait obediently, and your husband will go and pick them for you, okay? Oh, and you should tell those people first not to stop me."

Li Dahua was, to be precise, mentally unstable and infatuated. Perhaps in some way, God wanted to treat her fairly, giving her terrifying superhuman strength, but also a not-so-bright mind. She nodded without hesitation: "Okay, husband, come out with me. I'll beat up anyone who disobeys."

This clumsy excuse might fool Li Dahua, but it wouldn't fool the bandits in the mountain stronghold.

“Boss, this pretty boy is just fooling you. He’s talking about picking flowers, he actually wants to run away. Don’t listen to his nonsense.” One of the henchmen glared at Chu Jiyu. “He doesn’t want to marry you at all.”

This is obvious. What normal man would be willing to marry the eldest son, let alone the second young master of the Chu family in the capital?

It's not that I look down on Li Dahua, it's just the truth. She's so fat, all flabby, even a bear would pale in comparison, and she's also an idiot.

Of course, they see it as a treasure.

The eldest sister is a formidable fighter, but she commands respect because of her sense of justice.

Don't let her naivety fool you; she's always at the forefront of every battle, especially when fighting with other bandits for mountain strongholds—she's fearless.

When we get something, we never use our boss status to bully others; we share it equally. And we help anyone in need out of our own pockets.

Rather than being the leader, she was more like the bandits' provider; under her leadership, the bandits lived a very comfortable life.

Li Dahua was persuaded in an instant, and looked at Chu Jiyu with a wronged expression: "Husband, do you really dislike Dahua and don't want to marry Dahua?"

"Don't listen to his nonsense! He's just jealous of me and wants to take my place. Da Hua is so cute, how could my husband not like her?" Chu Jiyu was desperate. Tonight was either life or death. He shouted, "Da Hua, do you believe your husband or me?"

Li Dahua was immediately persuaded again and nodded without hesitation: "I trust my husband."
