The wind at high altitude was unobstructed, sharp as a knife, and stung my face.
My heart is even colder.
The endless army of zombies in the distance seemed to merge with the sky.
Zhan Qin's expression was solemn.
During this time, I have come to understand clearly what a zombie is: a monster that is almost impossible to die.
If it were ordinary soldiers, even if there were several times more, they wouldn't be afraid. With air superiority, they could just throw stones down. But now, they would only have a chance to kill someone if the stones hit their head.
The snowflakes broke apart, turning into fluffy, feathery flakes that drifted down.
The zombie army has arrived, and even at the relatively safe heights above, one can feel its terrifying power, as if it could destroy the world.
Zhan Qin picked up his binoculars and searched for Mu Wei's whereabouts.
I can't see it.
Unlike the zombies in Chu Jinjin's world, these zombies were obedient, fast but orderly, and even maintained a simple formation.
Zhan Qin took a deep breath and roared sharply, the sound carrying with it to the surroundings: "Smash!"
With limited bombs, the first wave will be stones.
Black Hawk Village has no shortage of stones, but the hot air balloon has a limited carrying capacity; it can't be too big or too small. What it's carrying right now are all simply processed stones.
Each hot air balloon carries only two people; the remaining weight is used to carry stones.
It was as if a meteor shower was falling, with dark stones being thrown down with force—no aim was needed, with an army of 100,000, the chance of missing was smaller than winning the lottery.
A dull sound rang out.
Perhaps due to the limited time, the Northern Desert army did not wear armor specifically designed to protect their heads.
Not one hid. The outsider seemed to have been prepared and gave the order, and all the zombies raised their arms to protect their heads.
More than a hundred hot air balloons, more than a hundred stones, then another two hundred, instantly becoming several hundred, densely packed together.
If it were ordinary soldiers, countless would have died or been wounded.
However, it seems that at most only a dozen or so people have fallen to the ground and are not yet able to get up.
Hitting someone is easy, but hitting them on the head is extremely difficult, and you have to damage brain tissue, meaning you have to crack their skull open.
The scene was spectacular, like a special effects blockbuster, with wave after wave of meteorites falling. The first meteorites to be thrown flew towards the mountain village to fill in the stones.
Zhan Qin's expression grew increasingly serious.
It's useless.
Hot air balloons have limited carrying capacity and fly slowly. Most importantly, they cannot cause fatal damage. They might be useful for sieges, but they absolutely cannot be used for that purpose, as that would mean that if they are not careful, Black Hawk Stronghold would fall.
With a command given, the stone gradually stopped and turned into a bomb!
Flames burst forth, and the zombie army below finally lost its formation. However, before they could even catch their breath, a zombie that had been injured and was on fire suddenly rolled on the ground.
Zhan Qin: "!!!"
The heavy snow and mud became the most effective fire extinguishers.
It was clearly another order from that zombie king.
Despair began to spread little by little. As they saw with their own eyes, stones couldn't kill them, fire couldn't kill them, so how could they fight them? As for traps and the like, they were more effective.
Standing on the high ground, Chu Jinjin sighed.
In the apocalypse, you can either run away or fight when you encounter a zombie army, because there are all kinds of powerful weapons. Actually, the current method is very simple - kill the outsiders, and the zombies will be easy to deal with without their leader.
Immortality combined with intelligence makes it virtually unsolvable.
If only I had a sniper rifle, I could find Muwei's location and kill him with a single shot.
It's unstoppable now.
The earth trembled as 100,000 zombies surged down the cliff. The narrow pass that Black Eagle Mountain Village relied on for survival was utterly useless, and things like rolling logs were completely ineffective.
Even with broken arms and legs, you can still crawl; you just won't die.
Jie Du said in a deep voice, "Jin Jin, retreat!"
This was their final plan: as long as the green hills remain, there will always be firewood; if they couldn't hold out, they would flee to the Black Dragon King's lair on the island, where the vast ocean should provide temporary safety.
Chu Jinjin shook her head: "I want to try again."
She could escape, but she knew what that meant: the world would become another apocalypse, ravaged by a zombie virus, and her future child would be born into such a world.
Moreover, with outsiders around, building a ship is only a matter of time, so where can they escape to?
Zhan Qin ran over quickly. All the hot air balloons had returned and were beginning to load supplies in preparation for their escape.
My luggage was already packed.
"Zhan Qin, come with me again. I'm not willing to give up." Chu Jinjin had been thinking about one sentence: Mu Wei had said that the only one who could stop outsiders was her.
How could she stop it?
Manufacturing various weapons? That could certainly pose a threat, but it seems difficult. Just look at World War I; hot air balloons and bombs had almost no effect.
Jie Du stopped her first, saying sternly, "Jin Jin, don't be silly. You're pregnant now. Think about the baby and leave quickly. I'll cover you."
Chu Jinjin smiled and said, "You can't stop me."
It's been like this from the beginning; no one can stop her from doing what she wants.
Screams echoed from afar, and people began to get injured. The narrow passage was blocked by a giant boulder, so the zombie army switched to climbing. The people on Black Eagle Mountain Stronghold threw stones and stabbed with weapons, but those were zombies that were not afraid of pain or falling.
Zhan Qin gritted his teeth: "Fine, but you have to listen to me."
Without him saying it, before giving birth to the child, she was the woman in the world who valued her life the most and didn't want to take any risks.
Chu Jinjin waved her hand: "Brother Jie, come on over, your archery is better than mine."
Her plan was to find the outsider and try to kill him.
The hot air balloon took off again, soaring high into the sky. The snow fell even heavier, revealing a hellish world below that no amount of snow could conceal. Countless zombie armies surged relentlessly toward the mountaintop, falling down only to climb back up again.
