Although Gan Li sympathized with Gan Quan and Gan Tao's plight, she was helpless to help Gan Tao in her current predicament. So she decided to put the matter aside for the time being and focus on running the restaurant.
Since it was already late, returning to the village was not feasible. Fortunately, Gan Li had anticipated that the restaurant would be busy on its first day of opening, so he had already told everyone to make preparations and bring bedding with them.
There are five rooms in the backyard. Except for the storage room and kitchen, which are not habitable, the remaining three rooms are used as bedrooms.
When the house was being renovated, Ganli specially had the three bedrooms remodeled and a large kang (heated brick bed) made, large enough for four strong men to sleep on.
After discussing it, everyone quickly assigned rooms. Gan Li and Gan Tian slept in the main room with Old Lady Gan, Zhao Shi and her daughter Gan Qiao slept in one room, and the remaining room was just enough for the four men of the Gan family to squeeze in.
The materials used in this era are all natural and pollution-free, so there's no need to worry about formaldehyde; you can live there directly.
When Gan Tian got onto the kang (a heated brick bed) with her bedding, she looked at the bright house and was so excited that she could hardly sleep.
The rest of the Gan family were equally thrilled; they never dreamed that one day they would own a shop in town.
“We’ll become ‘city people’ too, hehe!” Gan Mingyi lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, chuckling foolishly.
Old Man Gan was also very happy, and said with emotion:
"It's all thanks to your little sister's abilities... Everyone used to say I spoiled her, but that's because the fortune teller said that the reason her personality changed so drastically was because she was sick!"
The day she recovers, she'll go back to being the obedient and sensible Ali she used to be. I can't let her get better only to find that none of her family wants her anymore!
Old Gan became somewhat agitated at the end, and it took him a while to calm down. He sighed again, this time with a tone of guilt:
“I know you’ve all suffered a lot of injustices over the years. If you have something to complain about, blame me, not Ali. I’m getting old, but you’re still young. If we all stick together, things will only get better.”
Old Man Gan's heartfelt words brought tears to the eyes of the Gan brothers, but at the same time they were very anxious—what was their father saying?
They never complained about their sister!
After all, they know better than anyone why their sister turned out this way. They are too heartbroken to complain.
Little did they know, Old Man Gan wasn't saying this to them at all...
Although Old Man Gan didn't say it aloud, he was deeply saddened by Gan Lin's running away from home.
He lost his youngest grandson and didn't want his eldest grandson to die too, which is why he said those words today.
The eldest grandson is calm and steady, so he should be able to listen... no, will he actually listen?
Old Man Gan glanced at his grandson with some uncertainty.
Gan Quan looked at his second uncle's big feet and turned around speechlessly.
As for his aunt... Although he used to dislike her quite a bit, when he saw Gan Tao suffering, he would think that if his aunt hadn't been sucking blood at home and had been able to save up for the bride price, then Tao'er's mother wouldn't have looked down on him in the first place.
But as time went by, he gradually matured and realized that even without his aunt, Gan Tao Niang would still not be satisfied with him.
Moreover, everyone makes mistakes. Although her aunt had made mistakes in the past, she was now wholeheartedly good to them. Gan Quan thought, let bygones be bygones.
That night, the Gan family members were all preoccupied with their own thoughts and somewhat excited.
But I was exhausted from the day, so I fell asleep quickly...
The next day, as soon as the sky began to lighten, things started to get lively at Shiweitian. Everyone got up early, ate a quick breakfast, and then began preparing dishes and wiping tables, getting busy as ever.
Seeing this, Gan Tian wanted to stay and help, but Gan Li forcibly 'shooed' her away, telling her to focus on her studies. She also reminded her not to forget that she had a task at school.
Gan Tian remembered the document, nodded quickly, rushed to the kitchen, packed a serving of braised pork in a food box, promised to complete the task, and then went to school.
She grew up in this town and knows it very well, so she doesn't need to be taken to school at all.
Gan Tian left, but the Gan family was still busy. Time passed by unnoticed, and it was almost time for dinner. Everything in the restaurant was ready.
Ganli opened the door of the restaurant, ready to open for business, but the first customer who came in surprised her.
"The boss?"
Old Sun laughed heartily: "What boss? Manager Gan, didn't I already tell you to call me Old Sun?"
As he spoke, he looked around, and when he saw the clean and bright restaurant, he exclaimed in admiration:
"I knew Manager Gan was capable, but I didn't expect you to open a shop so quickly."
Gan Li smiled modestly and said, "Thanks to you, and also thanks to the customers who patronized the dessert stall before."
Inside the restaurant, when the others heard that Baifulai's owner had arrived, they all came out to greet him. Old Man Gan was a little reserved when he saw his former owner.
Old Sun was very kind and polite. He first apologized to him for what had happened before, and then praised him for being lucky to have such a capable daughter.
Actually, he didn't need to praise him. When he saw his former employer, whom he used to treat with utmost respect, being so courteous to his daughter, Old Man Gan was already very proud.
The Gan family members were very perceptive and knew that Old Sun must have something to say to Gan Li, so after a brief greeting, they all dispersed to do their own things, leaving the two of them alone to talk.
Ganli poured a cup of tea for Lao Sun, but Lao Sun waved his hand, and the servants behind him quickly brought up the gift box they were carrying.
