Gan Tao Niang had her eldest son push her wheelchair, and they rushed home in a flurry. As soon as she entered the door, she couldn't wait to call out:
"Tao'er! Come out quickly, your mother has good news for you!"

Gan Tao's mother, however, failed to notice her daughter's perfunctory attitude. She grabbed Gan Tao's hand and said excitedly:
"People in the village have been saying that Ganli has made a fortune and has actually taken over Wanshunlou! Well, it's opening in the next few days, and they say they're short-staffed and need to recruit people from our village!"

Gan Tao was tempted when she heard that the restaurant was hiring.
The reason is simple: things have been really tough at home lately!
Since she lost her job at the embroidery shop, the family's only source of income has disappeared. But with so many people in the family waiting to be fed, she has been able to take on jobs washing clothes for others, earning just enough to feed the family a bowl of thin porridge.
With the wild vegetables we picked, we were barely able to fill our stomachs.

However, when she heard that the restaurant recruiting was Ganli... her expression instantly darkened, she turned her face away, and said coldly:
"I'm not going."

Gan Tao Niang was taken aback by her daughter's words. Thinking of the scene she had had with Zhao Shi before, she felt a little embarrassed.
