Chapter 139 Backstage Editor
As soon as he finished speaking, the door suddenly shook.
The gap was then closed, and the door was shut shut, cutting off all outside noise.
Silence returned to the main hall.
Is that Lin Cai outside?
How did Lin Cai end up in this unknown place?
Yan Shi recalled the call she heard before she leaped into the abyss of the Death Throne.
Yan Shi: ...
Lin Caizhen truly lives up to her role as the protagonist.
No, why is Lin Cai everywhere?!
Yan Shi put down the drawing paper in his hand and walked further into the main hall.
Along the way, the piles of drawing paper on the table next to me increased, no longer a neat stack, but scattered haphazardly on the table.
Yan Shi walked patiently all the way, and finally slowly stopped.
The table has reached its end.
At the end, or rather at the beginning of the long table, there was a crystal ball.
[Absolutely fair]
There was a piece of paper under the crystal ball. Yan Shi pulled the paper out and looked down at it.
Welcome to the Throne of Death
This is the instruction manual for the Death Throne. Claire voluntarily placed the authority of history and record within the Death Throne, which can be borrowed by all candidates for divine positions.
As part of an equal exchange, the borrower must provide an equivalent amount of faith or life force.
Yan Shi: ...?
Things got out of hand.
Inside the Death Throne lies the authority to record history. But what does the transaction of this authority have to do with the comics on the table in front of me?
Yan Shi put the paper back on the table and looked at the crystal ball.
The crystal ball was fogged up.
She tentatively placed her hand on the crystal ball.
The drawings on the long table floated up in an instant, then fluttered towards Yan Shi's direction before being swallowed by the crystal ball.
As the drawing paper was rolled up, the mist inside the crystal ball slowly dissipated.
Yan Shi turned his head in surprise.
On the endless long table, drawing papers poured forth. Lin Cai smiled, was serious, and was angry as countless colorful papers fluttered in the air. There were also bright, vibrant, or dimly lit scenes, and Yan Shi even saw his own carefree, absent-minded face reflected in them.
All the drawings were collected into the crystal ball, and the mist inside the crystal ball completely dissipated.
Before Yan Shi could figure it out, suddenly everything in front of her disappeared.
When Yan Shi opened his eyes again, he was standing in a white fog.
In front of her was a huge screen of light. On the screen was the first page of the comic book "The Curse of the Laws".
The difference is that a backend editing button has appeared at the bottom of the familiar interface.
Apart from that, there was nothing in the white fog.
Yan Shi tentatively pointed to the back-end editor on the screen.
[Identity verification in progress...]
[Identity confirmed. Yan Shi, the mark of authority: justice and the judiciary.]
[Please note: Editing a timeline requires a large amount of Faith. Insufficient Faith will automatically deduct from your Life Force. Published timelines must be logically consistent and consistent in development; otherwise, the editing will be invalid, and the deducted Faith and Life Force will not be refunded.]
[Candidates for godhood will automatically dissipate upon losing all their life force :)]
The last two sentences flashed by very quickly, seemingly not wanting to be seen, but bound by some agreement, they disappeared in a flash. After the display was completed, the pop-up disappeared, and a brand new interface appeared.
[Backstage Editor]
The interface displays a long list of chapters, starting from chapter one and scrolling down to chapter 200. Each chapter title has an edit button next to it.
At the very top is the editing history.
Yan Shi opened the edit history.

[Lin Cai, Mark of Authority: Writing of Destiny (Unrecorded), Light and Annihilation (False), World Calendar 7318, Chapter 23 (Edited)]
A long, thin edit log, at a glance, was entirely filled with Ishmael and Lin Cai.
The two of them worked like a relay race, starting from the first episode and editing the story from the beginning.
As for Guan Yunji, who is at the very front, records show that she edited chapter 146 in the year 7294 of the world calendar.
7294 was the year Yan Shi was born.
Guan Yunji made targeted modifications to specific content during that year. Lin Cai and Ishmael, on the other hand, were re-editing the content.
That's really interesting.
And this mark of authority…
Yan Shi felt that he had vaguely grasped the beginning of what was going to happen.
She noted down the names of Guan Yunji and Lin Cai's authority marks, exited the background editing, opened the table of contents on the comic page, found chapter 146, and clicked on it.
As soon as the page finished loading, Yan Shi was immediately bombarded with a dense barrage of comments.
[Selling tissues and razor blades]
[Don't believe what I said before, this episode is incredibly sweet, Lanlan is the cutest in the world!!]
The barrage of comments completely obscured the comic page below.
Yan Shi searched through the settings for a while, turning on the bullet screen filter and semi-transparent font, before finally being able to see the comic content that was blocked by the bullet screen.
The opening scene is very gentle.
It was dusk.
The gentle glow of the setting sun spilled onto the streets filled with ruins and broken walls.
In a fairly intact little shop on the street, Yan Shi sat by the window, staring blankly at the street scene outside.
This little shop may have once been a dessert shop or a milk tea shop, as the dessert display case is now empty. Small tools are scattered on the work surface.
[That old thief really loves drawing solo close-ups of my wife in these empty scenes. They look beautiful, but they also make her look a little lonely.]
[Just call out to Lin Cai, and things will get lively immediately.]
Lin Cai emerged from the restaurant's kitchen carrying a plate. A bowl was placed upside down on the plate, obscuring its contents.
She walked quickly to Yan Shi's side.
"Lanlan!" Lin Cai called out, putting the plate on the table and sitting down in the chair opposite Yan Shi, leaning forward with her hand supporting her head. "Ta-da! Guess what's on the plate?"
She pushed the plate in front of Yan Shi, her eyes wide open, looking at him expectantly.
Yan Shi withdrew his gaze, propped his head up with his hands, smiled, and looked down at Lin Cai.
"Let me guess...it's a cake?"
[Both of them are propping their heads up, looking at each other from head to toe. Ahhhhh, so cute! Baby, you two are like two sweet little cakes!]
What's this? Lanlan, lick it. Lanlan, what color burlap sack do you like? (Hand props up on head)
"Ah..." Lin Cai pouted, spread her hands in front of her, and plopped down on the table. "Lanlan actually guessed it on her first try! So amazing!!"
Yan Shi: "Then, it really is a cake?"
Lin Cai perked up again, sat up straight, and lifted the bowl covering the plate. "Yes!! Lanlan, happy birthday."
Yan Shi looked down.
A plain-colored cake base sits in the center of the plate. The cake base is a regular cylinder, and a ring of colorful fruits is arranged on top.
You can tell the cake maker put a lot of effort into decorating the entire cake base. However, due to limitations in materials, it still shows a bit of a struggle.
Lin Cai then took out a candle from her pocket.
The candle was meticulously carved into the shape of a small flower, and the petals were delicately dyed with various colored fruit juices.
[Lin Cai should stop being a lead actress and open a candle shop or a cake shop. With that skill...]
[Hahaha, Libertas, who's currently somewhere, has something to say. In chapter 89, it's Libertas's birthday, and Lin Cai asks him to make a wish in his dream. Reality is too terrible, so just dreaming is fine.]
There are differences between friends, aren't there, Lin Cai?
Lin Cai placed the candle in the center of the cake, touched the wick with her fingertip, and a small spark ignited.
The afterglow of the setting sun was a hazy yellow. Inside the small shop, sparks danced brightly and purely in the center of the cake.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you...
Lin Cai sang softly, swaying her head as she sang, her voice gentle and filled with tender anticipation and blessings.
"…Happy birthday to you."
After singing the last line, Lin Cai looked at Yan Shi expectantly, "Lan Lan, quickly close your eyes and make a wish."
Behind Lin Cai, there are countless bubbles of unspoken thoughts.
Wishing Lanlan a peaceful and joyful new year.
'Wishing Lanlan all her wishes come true in the new year.'
…
Yan Shi's expression froze, and his gaze returned to the window.
"Lanlan?" Lin Cai called again, a little uneasy. Because she was sitting opposite Yan Shi, she couldn't see where Yan Shi was looking.
Yan Shi suddenly stood up.
Lin Cai turned around and looked.
Outside the window, a woman was pulling a little girl along, running forward with all her might.
A huge leopard was chasing them.
The street was uneven, and the woman nimbly leaped over some potholes, but she still tripped over a huge brick, stumbled, and fell to the ground.
The leopard pounced forward.
The woman swiftly grabbed the little girl, rolled to the side, and dodged the attack. She quickly got up again and ran forward.
The leopard remained calm and collected, using a magical energy to wrap around the little girl who the woman had been protecting, and pulling off one of her arms.
Fresh blood spurted out.
The little girl trembled violently from the pain, tears streaming down her face. She bit her lip to keep from making a sound, but tried her best to keep up with the woman in front of her, running forward as fast as she could.
After tearing off the arm, the leopard didn't continue its attack, but paused for a moment. It only resumed its chase after the woman after she had run a couple of steps.
Like a cat playing with a toy.
The streets were filled not only with women, girls, and leopards. Several other people sat atop floating magical artifacts, watching the chase unfold.
"Meg's running speed has dropped. There's definitely a burden hanging over her."
"This burden won't live much longer. It's easy for the living beings in the surface world to die from massive blood loss. What a pity."
"I hope we can get through this game today. I've bet a million on Meg."
The streets were deserted. The sounds of high-spirited discussions mingled with the roars of leopards, the heavy breathing of women, and the sobs of girls from pain, all of which were exceptionally clear.
The sun slowly sank below the horizon, and darkness engulfed the entire ruins.
Yan Shi had already reached the entrance of the small shop. Looking at the scene, he laughed sarcastically.
“How interesting,” she murmured to herself, “not human, not living being.”
Lin Cai also came out, looking at Yan Shi with some unease.
"Lanlan?"
She called out softly.
Yan did not respond.
Lin Cai tugged at Yan Shi's sleeve, "Lanlan, don't stand at the door, let's leave quickly after we finish eating the cake."
She had already seen the situation before her, her face indifferent. "This place has been chosen as an arena. It's not safe now."
As she spoke, Lin Cai took out a communicator from her pocket, opened the map, and zoomed in to look at it.
"We can head southeast; there's definitely a united city-state representing the human world there..."
Yan Shi still didn't reply. She pulled off the sleeve that Lin Cai was holding onto and walked straight out of the shop.
"Lanlan...?" Lin Cai put away the map and looked at her blankly.
The people sitting on the ritual implements quickly noticed Yan Shi below, and one of the women got up and flew towards Yan Shi.
"Jialang Gu Lianze, who comes here?"
Yan Shi raised his hand, and several water arrows shot towards the woman. The array on the hem of the woman's clothes flashed, and the white light blocked the water arrows.
The woman's expression darkened.
She reached into her storage space and pulled out a staff. At the top of the magic circle was a crystalline magic stone, and as she chanted softly, greenery grew, carrying a chilling killing intent.
Large vines rose from the ground, covered with thick, sharp thorns, ready to pierce Yan Shi's body.
The others on the magic circle noticed the situation and stopped using their magical artifacts to look.
Lian Ze noticed her companion's gaze, relaxed her expression, and intensified her green offensive.
The other world, or more precisely, the present world.
Strength reigns supreme. In this one-on-one fight, Lian Ze's companions won't help. Even if Lian Ze dies here, it will only be because she herself wasn't strong enough.
The vines spread out, covering the sky, and the water sprite entangled them, turning them into powder.
Lian Ze's defeat was swift.
In the blink of an eye, Lian Ze was overwhelmed and pinned to the ground by the fierce water spirit. The magic array on her clothes shattered, and water arrows were pressed against her neck.
Yan Shi looked down at Lian Ze.
Lian Ze was now in a sorry state, covered in dust and dirt, looking no different from the woman who had been chased by the leopard earlier.
Yan Shi looked ahead. The leopard was bound by the howling water spirit, which entangled one of its forelimbs and violently pulled it off.
Blood spurted out, and the leopard howled in agony.
Taking advantage of this pause, the woman scooped up the little girl and ran forward, quickly disappearing into the darkness.
Yan Shi withdrew his gaze.
“I’m just an ordinary passerby in this world,” she said calmly.
Lian Ze didn't make a sound, or rather, she was too painful to make a sound.
Yan Shi manipulated the water spirit to sever all her meridians. The spirit blocked her body, rampaging wildly.
"Are you speaking up for them?" the magical artifact flew over, and another woman on it said.
Yan Shi looked up at them.
They were all dressed elegantly, one of them even holding a bag of potato chips, her cheeks bulging as she chewed. A picnic mat was laid out on the altar, with desserts, drinks, and fruits arranged on exquisite plates.
Lin Cai searched the entire ruins before finding even a tiny bit of cake base material.
Yan Shi laughed.
She has two very shallow dimples, which are only noticeable when she laughs.
Outside the screen, Yan Shi no longer cared about reading the comments. She quickly scrolled through them.
On the next page, the woman in the comic stops smiling.
