Chapter 145 The Grand Show Begins

Chapter 145 The Grand Show Begins

As a good student who didn't follow the rules, Chu Mengfu didn't immediately understand what Yan Lan meant.

Confused, she was pulled from the abandoned ship and found a group of refugees gathered outside.

The group of refugees were dressed in typical Novano port attire: coarse linen clothes with tight cuffs and ankles, and short, medium-length hair for easy maintenance.

Chu Mengfu was startled.

She immediately prepared to attack, the Dark Spirit Blade held between her fingers. Suddenly, the leader bowed and called out, "Captain Chu!"

The people behind also bowed, "Captain Chu!!"

Chu Mengfu: ...?

She sheathed the Dark Spirit Blade and subconsciously glanced back at Yan Lan.

Yan Shi smiled and looked at Chu Mengfu with great interest.

The leader stepped forward and shook Chu Mengfu's hand. "Captain Chu, it's me, Sera. You're finally back!"

As they were talking, Chu Mengfu felt a round object being placed into his palm. After a brief moment of excitement, Sera released Chu Mengfu's hand. "Captain Chu, we have completed the arrangements within the city as you instructed. What should we do next?"

Chu Mengfu clenched his fist, subtly slipping the unidentified item Sera had handed him into his pocket, and coughed lightly. "Let's go into the city."

Sera immediately perked up: "Yes!" She whistled, and the large group of refugees surrounding the ship rushed toward the city gate.

Chu Mengfu was the last to arrive, and took the unidentified item that Sera had just handed her out of her pocket again.

It is a storage gem.

Yan Lan strolled lazily past Chu Mengfu. "Chu Mengfu, the stage is set up. Now it's up to you to perform."

Her voice was light and airy, not standing out in the noisy harbor.

After saying that, Yan Lan did not follow the group of refugees toward the city gate. Instead, he casually pulled forward and tore open a spatial rift.

The other side of the crack was pitch black, and the destination was nowhere to be seen.

Yanlan's gaze finally fell on the head of the Governor of Novano Port, which was hanging on the port flag. He seemed to sigh softly before his figure disappeared into the crack.

In the blink of an eye, Chu Mengfu found himself alone.

Yanlan arranged for her to join a theatrical troupe of a displaced leader, whose identity was "Captain Chu," most likely Chu Mengfu's real name. This, coupled with the known ending that the Governor's Mansion would no longer exist in Novano Port, further reinforces this.

Chu Mengfu roughly knew what Yan Lan had given her.

A brilliant opportunity.

Although the group of refugees we just saw were dressed very much like locals from Novano Port, their movements were orderly and they didn't look like refugees at all.

In addition, Yanlan's older sister is Director Yan, the head of the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs.

Chu Mengfu estimated that the Foreign Affairs Bureau had definitely taken action in Novano Port recently, with the ultimate goal of abolishing the Governor's Office and taking over Novano Port completely.

This group of refugees was orchestrated by the Bureau of Foreign Affairs.

Originally, this had nothing to do with Chu Mengfu, but Yan Lan intervened and made Chu Mengfu the protagonist of this drama.

They represent students from the world, who can begin to build their own foundation from here.

Chu Mengfu's heart was pounding.

She knew she might never have a better opportunity in her life.

So, Teacher Yanlan is actually very soft-hearted.

He said it was "none of her business," but he would often offer help in his actions.

After all, the stage has already been set up, and anyone can be the lead actor.

"I will do it," Chu Mengfu said to himself. "I will do it perfectly."

---

Yan Shi didn't know where this spatial rift was going either; in fact, she had just pulled it casually.

It's common knowledge that people pretend to be busy when they're embarrassed. That was exactly Yan Shi's state just now.

The current head of the Novano Port branch is the patrol team leader who was just transferred to the branch from headquarters last week.

Yan Shi simply sent a message to the person in charge, saying to send people to gather outside the abandoned ship and pretend to be refugees, and that she would arrange for the refugee leader.

Ling Yanshi did not expect that the patrol team from the Bureau of Eccentric Management, who were pretending to be refugees, would be such good actors.

From the moment she and Chu Mengfu stepped off the abandoned ship, the entire performance was seamless and natural.

For a moment, Yan Shi couldn't figure out whether the group outside was a patrol team sent by the branch office to pretend to be refugees, or Chu Mengfu was actually a refugee leader in addition to assassinating the governor of Novano Port.

The one sent so far, Sera, calls Chu Mengfu "Captain Chu" and seems to have brought some other script with him.

In a state of extreme confusion and embarrassment, Yan Shi casually uttered a couple of sentences before opening a spatial rift and leaving the scene.

After stepping out of the spatial rift, Yan Shi shook his head vigorously, trying to shake off the embarrassment he had just experienced, and began to look around.

This is an extremely luxurious bedroom.

In the center of the bedroom sits a soft, European-style bed. The bed frame is wide and supple, with the headboard and footboard carved from dark solid wood, covered with delicate rose patterns and scroll reliefs. The headboard stands tall, its curved arched ceiling edged with gold leaf, and each of the four corners has a pillar connecting to a sheer canopy with sheer curtains hanging down slightly.

Apart from the bed, all the other furniture in the bedroom is exquisite.

From the gilded small tables on either side of the bed, to the silver candlesticks on the tables, to the carpet beside the bed, and to the silk wallpaper on the walls.

It looks very expensive.

Yan Shi drew a conclusion.

She was about to walk around and see what was going on when suddenly the door behind her was gently pushed open.

The solid wood door rubbed against the carpet with a careful and delicate sound.

Yan Shi was startled and turned around to look.

The visitor was a woman dressed in a smart servant's uniform, with short hair and brown eyes. She was carrying a stack of clothes and spoke in a steady voice: "Young Master, greetings. It's time to go out for your afternoon rest."

Yan Shi: ?

She was standing in the middle of the room. Couldn't the woman see her?

Yan Shi tentatively took a few more steps toward the bed, trying to see the appearance of the room's owner through the gauze curtain.

The bed was covered with a thick, perfectly smooth velvet quilt.

It was completely deserted, as could be seen at a glance.

So where is this woman's young master?

Yan Shi turned around and looked around again.

The woman had already entered the room. She walked to a distance of five steps from Yan Shi, knelt down respectfully, and raised her clothes to Yan Shi's waist.

"Young Master, this is the casual attire for the meeting this afternoon."

Yan Shi slowly pointed to himself: "Me?"
