Chapter 163 One-Winged Wing
Wen Ying was about to fight her.
Yan Shi looked at the sword in Wen Ying's hand, and was momentarily shocked and bewildered.
In Yan Shi's memory, Wen Ying, though strong-willed in everything, was gentle and quiet, with almost no aggression. Her ability was also non-combat illusion magic.
Yan Shi had no idea that Wen Ying could use a sword.
Yan Shi tilted her head to avoid the longsword Wen Ying was pointing at her: "You want to fight me?"
"Yanlan," Wen Ying said casually, "Make your move. You've already taken out your weapon."
As they spoke, Wen Ying's sword grazed Yan Shi's cheek, leaving a bloody mark.
Yan Shi had always liked Wen Ying; her beautiful, clear, emerald-colored eyes held only coldness.
Wen Ying was determined to fight her.
Yan Shi laughed, raising the ends of his eyebrows, but there was no smile in his eyes.
She said, "Okay."
Immediately afterwards, Yan Shi gripped the Deathly Halberd and swung it away from Wen Ying's longsword.
Wen Ying's longsword was knocked away, and the blade sliced through the air, emitting a clear and melodious hum.
Lin Cai helped Chu Mengfu up and quickly moved aside. Meng Shi also lightly touched the ground with his toes and landed next to Lin Cai.
Yan Shi raised her hand, and the halberd of the undead rose slightly, its blade emitting a deep, eerie luster. She looked up at Wen Ying, who had taken a step back, and said, "Come."
Wen Ying did not respond, a glint of light flashing in her emerald eyes. She gently twirled the longsword in her fingertips, and golden light appeared on the blade, like dawn breaking through the night mist.
At the same time, the surrounding air began to subtly distort, and the surrounding scenery became blurred, as if covered by a layer of water ripples.
Yan Shi quickly noticed the changes in his surroundings; the shed area was disappearing, replaced by a gray, misty forest.
It resembled the woods near the Death Throne in Jambudvipa. A thin mist hung in the air, the shadows of the trees swayed, and countless eyes peered from the shadows.
Wen Ying's figure blurred for a moment, then split into several afterimages, each wielding a sword and pointing it directly at Yan Shi.
Wen Ying's abilities are like a mirage.
Yan Shi closed his eyes, recalling the route of the alley by the sea and Wen Ying's position before the illusion.
Illusions can only deceive the eye; they cannot change reality.
There was a slight gust of wind to my left front.
Yan Shi dodged to the side, and the Undead Halberd swept out, meeting Wen Ying's golden longsword head-on.
Sparks flew as the metal scraped against each other.
Yan Shi suddenly opened his eyes, thrusting forward with the Undead Halberd, the blade striking Wen Ying's waist.
Wen Ying shifted his stance, pressing down with his sword to deflect the halberd's edge, but he still couldn't completely block it. The area where the halberd grazed his clothes melted away, and instead of blood, a corrosive black mist appeared at the wound.
Wen Ying winced in pain, her brows furrowing, and the illusion vanished in an instant.
The forest recedes, and the sea reappears.
The moon has come out.
Everything became clear.
Wen Ying stood there, her face cold, biting her fingertip. The blood that flowed from her fingertip wasn't bright red, but golden.
Wen Ying ran her blood-stained fingertips across the wound on her waist, and the corrosive black mist at the wound dissipated, beginning to heal rapidly.
She looked up at Yan Shi and said, "Yan Lan, you used necromancy first. Then we'll use the methods of the dead."
After speaking, Wen Ying flipped his hand, and the blade of his longsword sliced through his left wrist without hesitation.
For some reason, the blood flowing from Wen Ying's wrist was red. The blood flowed down the sword, and where it passed, the golden sword gradually turned dark red, and then to a ghostly gray.
Wen Ying did not use his ability again. Instead, after the sword had completely transformed, he attacked with his sword.
Her movements were light and swift, her longsword transforming into a blurry shadow, tearing through space wherever the blade passed, emitting a low hum.
The sword's blade shimmered with a ghostly gray light, carrying a chilling aura of death.
Yan Shi swiftly raised his halberd to meet the attack, the blade sweeping across and precisely blocking Wen Ying's thrusting sword.
Is this an elven mage turning into an assassin...?
While Yan Shi was stopping Wen Ying, he was also thinking about something else.
She truly hadn't expected Wen Ying to be so strong.
When the Fiend Halberd was attacked, it reflexively emitted a dim light from the point of contact.
Yan Shi's hand trembled slightly.
From the moment the halberd clashed with Wen Ying's longsword, the halberd suddenly became heavy and cold again, emanating the same chilling aura it had when they first met, creeping up her arm from her fingertips.
The increasingly clear shouts reached Yan Shi's ears.
Let's fall to our deaths together.
Death is the end of everything.
No living being can escape death.
...
"So you haven't completely overcome your fear. You still have attachments." Wen Ying's voice cut through the whispers of the dead.
Yan Shi suddenly came to his senses.
With a flick of her wrist, she flung the halberd away from Wen Ying's sword, using the momentum to take two steps back. She then gently shook her numb fingers, the icy coldness at her fingertips seeming to seep into her bones.
"Shut up," Yan Shi said in a low voice, his tone impatient.
Her gaze fell on her right hand, her fingers gripping the halberd handle growing colder, yet she did not loosen her grip.
The coldness and oppression emanating from the halberd shaft seemed to grow stronger, and the clamor of the undead drew ever closer, almost to his ears.
So that's where the Death's Halberd was waiting for her.
Yan Shi gripped the Undead Halberd tightly.
This is the seaside, where the air itself is extremely moist.
Yan Shi could sense the dense, almost tangible water spirit carefully touching her right hand.
They seemed to sense the chill of death, gathering around it like warm ribbons, trying to isolate themselves from the aura of the Death Spear.
Yan Shi took a deep breath.
The damp sea breeze brushed through her hair, and the scent of the sea, permeating the very fabric of the air, cheered with her.
Tonight, the bright moon hangs high in the night sky.
Yan Shi unconsciously clenched his left hand in the air.
The moonlight grew brighter and brighter, flowing gently and painting the streets with a soft silvery white.
As the moonlight flowed, the water became more abundant, and the night in the shed area grew brighter and brighter, gradually transforming from gloomy and cold to as bright as day.
The moonlight, like a tide, weaves itself into a sea.
As the moonlit sea sank in, suppressed gasps of surprise rose from the side.
Wen Ying's gaze sharpened slightly as she turned to look back.
Behind her, the Dono Sea was churning.
The seawater seemed to be awakened by some invisible force, stirring up huge waves that surged and poured towards this place.
The sea surged forward with tremendous force, and Wen Ying's pupils contracted. She lightly touched the ground with her toes and leaped into the air.
The waves seemed to have a preordained target, chasing and striking Wen Ying, then supporting Yan Lan standing in the center, merging with the moon tide.
Even more astonishing is that, despite the influx of water from the Dono Sea, it miraculously did not submerge the surrounding shacks and alleyways. Instead, the seawater formed a massive arch, enveloping the surrounding buildings and creating a 'vacuum zone' beneath the sea.
A sea monster leaped and tumbled from the waves.
It was enormous, with eyes like two small silver moons. It had horns on its head, and when it roared, the entire sea trembled with its sound.
Yan Shi touched the ground with her toes and leaped upwards. The sea beast gently swung its tail and steadily supported her.
Silver light surged from the sea beast's back, enveloping Yan Shi's figure in a cool glow. She stood atop the sea beast, her halberd blade pointing at Wen Ying.
Wen Ying finally leaped out of the waves that were entangled around her, her whole body soaked.
"Yanlan!" Wen Ying said, somewhat annoyed. "Fine, fine, fine."
Only after she broke free did Yan Shi realize that Wen Ying had a single wing on her back.
The wings were beautiful, thin sheets of gold with intricate patterns.
There is only one question.
Wen Ying's wings were not a pair, but only the left one remained.
