Chapter 35 Summer Internship (Comic Plot)...
After providing a detailed panel depicting the scene of the spatial distortion and explosion, the comic cuts back to Lin Cai.
Lin Cai is tearing open Zhan Zhou's admission notice.
Zhan Zhou's admission letter was very special; it was an exquisitely crafted notebook.
Opening the book reveals the student's file and the reserved grade registration page.
Yan Shi had never read Zhan Zhou, but at this moment a chill ran down his spine, and he suddenly felt like he was back in his student days, having been dominated by teachers and grades.
The comments section clearly echoed this sentiment.
[The acceptance letter is also a transcript—what kind of ingenious design is this?]
Even now that you're in university, you should still study hard and strive to become a test-taker king/queen.
[Having your transcript printed on your college acceptance letter and sent home can be interpreted as your parents asking for your transcript every time you go home for holidays to see how your grades are this semester (painful mask)]
[After hearing Shu Zhijing's introduction to Zhanzhou's graduation system, I could have predicted that Zhanzhou would be a top-tier school for academic proficiency.]
If the underworld operates on a reporting system, then Zhan Zhou is clearly a risk-averse individual.
[Actually, no. Judging from Shu Zhijing's introduction of Zhan Zhou's graduation destination, we can understand it as Zhan Zhou ≈ Imperial University. No one would refuse Imperial University, at least I can't.]
After taking the student notebook out of the admission notice package, Lin Cai shook the package again, and a sticky note floated out.
Chu Mengfu was a very competent introducer. After finishing her chat with Chu Mengfu, Lin Cai accepted Yu Junxun's invitation to intern at the headquarters of the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs and Bai Du's friend request.
Yan Shi had long noticed that Kirina's manga was very realistic, except for the fact that he liked to add all sorts of strange filters to her.
She had previously seen a detailed depiction of the Giant Jaw Plains Bureau branch in the Curse of Laws. The comic here is very grand, giving the headquarters a whole page of panels.
Perhaps because he had been working at the General Administration for so long, Yan Shi had become numb. Seeing his workplace in the comics this time brought back some of the shock he felt when he first walked into the General Administration.
The headquarters of the Bureau of Foreign Affairs is located in the center of the old city of the capital, next to the Summer Palace, and on the other side of the Summer Palace is the City Government of the World Government.
In such a prime location, the General Administration still occupies a very large area, forming an entire building complex, just like the municipal government.
The interior landscape largely retains the original appearance of the historical buildings, while the main office areas, such as the central main building, are modified versions of the historical buildings.
Lin Cai swiped her ID card and entered the main building after passing through layers of checks, inwardly exclaiming "Wow!"
The Curse of Laws often likes to draw chibi-style figures behind characters to express their emotions. At this moment, the chibi figure behind Lin Cai is wide-eyed and full of exclamation marks in shock.
Lin Cai remained calm on the surface, but if it were me, I probably would have exclaimed "Wow!"
[Next to the Summer Palace and across from the City Hall, that old scoundrel really dared to dream of it. If I remember correctly, that area is a restricted zone in reality.]
Honestly, this aerial view is incredibly detailed! The Summer Palace and the City Hall are drawn exactly the same as on the map.
[I thought that was a wealthy area of the capital, so it was off-limits. I passed by once before, and the security outside was extremely tight. Did that old thief just turn this area into the headquarters of the Bureau of Extraordinary Abilities?]
Because the main building contains many confidential offices, the employee elevators use facial recognition to automatically assign floors.
Lin Cai walked into the 11th floor.
The building was empty, and each office was clean and quiet.
"Am I too early?" Lin Cai asked, taking out her phone to check the time.
It's 9:30, which is theoretically time to start work.
She was standing in the middle of the corridor, puzzled, when suddenly she heard footsteps behind her.
Lin Cai turned around to look.
It was a young man wearing a fitted dark green uniform, similar in style to the uniforms that Shu Zhijing and the others wore at the black market yesterday.
The man had unusually long hair and a handsome face. With the sunlight streaming in through the window, he looked as if he had stepped out of an ancient book.
[It's that handsome, unknown guy who appeared in the cover art!]
[The book is about to be completed; is it going to be a romantic story?]
No, this is about to be a classic scene. I was laughing so hard when I came back from behind, hahaha!
Yan Shi was in a hurry to read the comic content, so she hadn't even looked at the cover image yet. When she saw what the comments said, she curiously flipped back to the cover image.
The illustration on the envelope is very well done; it depicts Lin Cai and Yu Junxun reviewing documents together by the window.
Lin Cai was focused and attentive, with a stack of completed documents piled to her left and reference materials in front of her. Yu Junxun, on the other hand, was absentmindedly staring into space, his head propped up, with a few pages of discarded documents scattered around him, probably pulled directly from the pile.
The composition is excellent, both main characters look beautiful, and the lighting is just right.
It's Yu Junxun slacking off.
Yan Shi remained expressionless, but felt his fist harden.
If the Household Registration Department didn't really need someone from a good background to keep things in order, she would have fired Yu Junxun tomorrow.
However, Lin Cai's abilities were surprisingly outstanding, and she picked up the job very quickly.
In the comic, the man smiled gently at Lin Cai and introduced himself, "Lin Cai, nice to meet you. I'm Yu Junxun."
Yu Junxun led Lin Cai to a workstation in the largest office on the right side of this floor and pushed a huge pile of documents towards her.
Lin Cai: "Where are the others?"
Yu Junxun: "I was just laid off by the bureau chief yesterday."
Lin Cai: "Are all these documents urgent for us to process? Are you sure we haven't already processed a portion of them?"
Yu Junxun: "Of course not. In fact, this is only a part of it. The rest is in my space bracelet. If we take it all out, we won't have any writing space left."
The chibi-style figure behind Lin Cai went through a series of reactions: shock, excitement, surprise, and then blank stare. Its eyes suddenly lit up, and finally it collapsed, utterly dejected.
Hahahahahahahahahaha
[What kind of operation is this, getting fired by the bureau chief just yesterday? Your Bureau of Disciplinary Affairs is so arbitrary, just firing a department head like that]
Is this what centralized power under the bureau chief is like? Director Yan is terrifying.
[The only thing the working class wants to know is why the resignation procedures were processed so quickly, and why there wasn't an urgent hiring process? How much is the severance pay?]
Lin Cai didn't come here for an internship; she came here to be a slave, and there's also a director who looks incredibly unreliable. Why was everyone else laid off, but this director wasn't? It can't be because of his looks, can it?
The comic includes a scene where Yu Junxun confronts Director Yan in the director's office.
The story moves from Yu Junxun's perspective. In the comic, Yu Junxun stood at the door for a while before finally knocking and then pushing open the door to the director's office.
Director Yan was sitting at his large desk by the window, reviewing documents.
Unlike his appearance in the previous episode, where he was in a fight scene and wore a uniform jacket for fieldwork, his cool demeanor was somewhat different.
At this moment, Director Yan was wearing a black shirt, expressionless, with documents on the table and a series of unexpected arrangements that had just been announced.
The unmechanistic is like the embodiment of the law.
"All current employees of the Household Registration Department of the State Administration of Taxation have been dismissed and are undergoing resignation procedures."
"Anyone with objections should bring all their work achievements since joining the company to the director's office before the end of the day to provide an explanation."
[This notification from Director Yan... my pupils dilated, it's so shocking!]
So what did the Household Registration Department do to get Director Yan to lay off their entire department?
[Is the whole company not working? Yu Junxun brought out so many documents, which means they had been piling up for a long time. I don't know why they were kept there. The director is really decisive.]
What I'm interested in is what work results Yu Junxun brought that ultimately convinced Director Yan to change his mind and keep him, and even appoint him as the Director of the Household Registration Department.
Looking at it this way, this director isn't entirely unreliable.
She didn't pay any attention to Yu Junxun who came in. Perhaps in her eyes, Yu Junxun, as a useless member of the Household Registration Department who was destined to be laid off, was just like a discarded line in the process.
Worthless.
"It's working hours now. You're not wearing your uniform. Do you have a problem with the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs?" Director Yan didn't care what he was there for; her main concern was that Yu Junxun hadn't followed the Bureau's rules and regulations.
Yu Junxun's flawless smile, which he had always maintained, faltered slightly.
He came from a prominent family, and after taking a deep breath, he quickly recovered and explained, "The Household Registration Department does not conduct fieldwork, so there are no dress requirements."
Author's Note: Please note that *The Curse of Laws* is a standard shonen manga, and Lin Cai's character's plot, as a main character, is still designed in advance.
I feel the comic's plot is slow because I didn't handle the first arc (Lin Cai falling into the other world) well; I wrote it too quickly. The second arc improved things a bit, becoming more detailed and longer.
Thank you all for your encouragement and support!! If there are any shortcomings in the characters or writing style, please point them out, and I will actively improve. (bows)
Some plot points are currently foreshadowing and will be explained later.
