Chapter 76: Hundred Family Quilt (2/2)

As the saying goes, the husband's attitude towards his wife affects the attitude of his wife's family.

Thinking of Fu Jingchen, Jiang Yuman hooked her finger with his under the table, but he stretched out his hand and held it, not letting her take it back.

When she raised her eyes to look at him, he was smiling with his lips curled up, and that look reminded Jiang Yuman of last night.

I couldn't help but step on him before I could pull my hand back.

"What did the family say to thank you?" Fu's mother was still unaware of the lawsuit going on under the table and didn't take it seriously.

Everyone finished eating while chatting and laughing.

Fu Jingchen got up and cleaned the dishes to wash.

Fu's mother took a small stool and sat at the door with a basket beside her, sewing something in her hands.

Jiang Yuman took a quick glance and saw that the basket was full of rags. She couldn't help but ask, "Mom, don't we still have rags at home? Why are you picking up the rags?"

Mother Fu said with a smile: "I know we have some at home, but I was making a patchwork quilt for my child, and I had nothing to do this morning, so I went around asking people for some."

The so-called "hundred-piece quilt" is a small quilt made of one hundred pieces of cloth, implying that a child can thrive under the care of everyone.

Because of the previous wild boar incident, the villagers had a very good impression of the Fu family. They had a lot of scraps of cloth at home, and when they heard that Fu's mother wanted them, they quickly took them out.

That’s why we were able to gather so many.

"I haven't sewed many pieces this morning, so I can't do it quickly." Mother Fu picked up the quilt in her hand and showed it to her.

Jiang Yuman couldn't help but sigh: "Mom, you are so thoughtful. I didn't even think of this."

At a time when supplies were scarce and every household had scraps of cloth, a quilt did not require a high price, but required a lot of love.

She also didn't expect that after being the wife of Si Yu and mother-in-law for so many years, she could still be so attentive.

"You've been through a lot carrying a child, so I'm not your fault for worrying about this." Mrs. Fu said, "Don't you have to go to class this afternoon? Go in and get some sleep."

"good."

Jiang Yuman went into the house and went to bed.

I waited until it was almost afternoon before getting up and preparing to go to school.

When she got up, Fu Jingchen was mixing mud with Yao Zhenjiang, preparing to make mud bricks for the earthen kang.

Jiang Yuman took a look from a distance and saw that there was wheat straw scattered in the mud, mixed together with a shovel. It was probably similar to the principle of reinforced concrete.

She watched as the two men were preparing to put the kneaded clay into a mold, which was a square wooden frame.

When putting the kneaded clay into the pot to set it into shape, Yao Zhenjiang also sprinkled a layer of bran on the bottom.

The process is finished only when the mud is flattened and compacted.

"Sister-in-law, are you up?" Yao Zhenjiang had sharp eyes and saw Jiang Yuman at the door as he stood up.

Hearing this, Fu Jingchen also looked back.

When he turned his head, Jiang Yuman saw that there was sweat on his forehead and he was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, which made his shoulders look even broader.

There was mud on her palms, and it was obvious that he had been busy while she was taking a nap.

"How long have you been busy?" Jiang Yuman saw that there were already seven or eight pieces on the ground.

"Not long." Yao Zhenjiang explained: "It takes a day to remove this thing from the mold, and it needs to be turned over to dry, otherwise it won't be transparent."

Fu Jingchen said, "I'll take you to school first." Then he went to wash his hands.

Yao Zhenjiang also followed.

After Chen Ge sends his sister-in-law back, he will come over to make earthen bricks.

Jiang Yuman remembered the textbook on the table and turned around to get it.

Before he even entered the house, he heard a scream behind him.
